Nothing represents Cape Cod like the charming, seaside village of Chatham where this lovely cottage is located.
This bed and breakfast is in the perfect spot for walking to everything Chatham has to offer. A short two-block stroll leads to the Main Street, which is lined with shops and galleries, restaurants, day spas, cinema, summer theater, four churches and tree-filled parks offering old fashioned band concerts in season. Summer league baseball, the Chatham Golf Course and town tennis courts, as well as a bicycle rental shop and the bike trail are all within two blocks of Mermaid Cottage.
Nearby saltwater beaches are Oyster Pond, three blocks away, with its bathhouse and lifeguard, as well as the expansive Chatham Lighthouse Beach, a pleasant 1.5 mile walk through the village and the town's most historic neighborhood. Freshwater swimming at White Pond is a two-mile bike ride away.
Leave the car behind and enjoy Chatham on foot or bicycle.
The two second floor rooms are furnished beautifully with antiques, fine fabrics and art:
Room one has a queen bed, and accommodates one or two guests.
Room two has a twin bed, accommodates one guest, and is only used if two guests travelling together would each like their own room, or for a third guest for parties of three.
A bath with shower is off the private hallway between the two rooms. Please note the bathroom is small.
A mini refrigerator is in a hall cupboard.
The rooms are small, with sloping ceilings, but are charming, comfortable and private. Both rooms have air conditioners.
In the front garden, a pretty sitting area under a shady tree awaits you. Beach chairs and beach towels are provided. Morning coffee and tea are offered, and breakfast vouchers for several nearby breakfast spots are included.

Relaxing weekend in Chatham, despite the rain. Great little cape house with private suite upstairs. Cheryl was a thoughtful and pleasant host who ensured we had everything we needed. Location of the house couldn't have been better, 5-10min walk to Main Street and all the action.
Margeaux's place was really lovely, in a charming part of Chatham a short walk from the main part of town. She was extremely friendly and was quick to offer us many suggestions for how to enjoy our time. We had a short stay but particularly appreciated her recommendations on where to bicycle on Nantucket. For a few days exploring the cape, we had a wonderful time!
We loved staying here. Our host went to great lengths to make sure we were comfortable. She took us on a lovely tour of the house, and checked in with us every day to make sure that we had everything we needed, from refreshing towels to giving us directions to setting up an ironing board and iron, to even being willing to call restaurants for us to make reservations. When a friend who wasn't staying with us stopped by, she welcomed him with as much enthusiasm and hospitality as she welcomed us.
The home itself was lovely. It was very clean, and our host very graciously offered us use of her living room at all hours and her porch anytime during the day. Sitting out on the porch with a cup of tea was a great way to start the morning. The bedrooms were upstairs and offered plenty of privacy. The beds were very comfortable, and the bedrooms had tv, books, and WiFi so there was no chance to be bored if we decided to be make it an early night. There was an outdoor shower that we did not get a chance avail ourselves of, but which we look forward to trying next time we come!
Cheryl was the best AirBnB host I've ever had. She drove us to the beach and had all the best recommendations. We'll definitely be visiting Chatham again.
Cheryl is a wonderful hostess. My parents stayed with her a few days while visiting Chatham. The Mermaid Cottage is picturesque and very clean and neat. We had a great time and would recommend Cheryl to anyone staying in the Chatham area.
Our stay at the Mermaid Cottage was wonderful. We didn't spend much time in the cottage, but we felt extremely safe and comfortable (thank goodness for the air-conditioners!) both nights. The proximity to Main Street was great, and we were able to walk everywhere in town and to the beach! I would recommend The Mermaid Cottage to a friend and hope I'm lucky enough to return.
I had an amazing time at the Mermaid Cottage. I was in Chatham for the weekend for a wedding and I couldn't have asked for better accommodations or company. As soon as I walked in the door, Cheryl was incredibly kind and helpful with helping me get my bearings and recommending places for me to go. As luck would have it, a friend of Cheryl's had caught a striped bass prior to my arrival and shared it with her. She, in turn, shared it with me, providing me with the freshest possible dinner I could have had my first night in Chatham. I don't think I could have felt more welcome.
The house itself is in an amazing location; I was able to walk right downtown within about 5 minutes, and I was also within walking distance of the Chatham Bars Inn which is where the wedding I attended was being held.
Not only was the location outstanding, but the house itself reminded me of the beach house on Cape Cod that my family grew up going to. It has every amenity you could ask for, and if you decide to hang around for the day, you can take advantage of the meticulously maintained backyard.
I can't say enough good things about the Mermaid Cottage or my host, Cheryl. I absolutely recommend this location for a visit to Chatham.
