The Space

- If you're looking for a great, quiet place to relax after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings, this is your Hollywood Oasis. You'll have your own private room with a private attached patio, a spectacular view (see photos), and there's abundant adjacent parking. This 2-story, 3 bedroom, single family house is located within a private gated property with 4 other houses with a beautiful, lush, courtyard and fountain.. It is private, secure, and exclusive.

- This is the best location in Hollywood. It's just a short walk to local attractions such as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, great hiking at the famous Runyon Canyon Park (where you might even see a Celebrity), the Hollywood Bowl, The Magic Castle, the Walk of Fame, the Dolby Theater (where they host the Academy Awards), the Hollywood Highland shopping center, and many more.

- For public transportation, the Metro Red Line is just a 15 minute walk away and there's a bus stop just down the block which will take you to all parts of the City! You're minutes away by car from Universal City, the Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and shopping / entertainment attractions like the Grove, Farmer's Market, and LACMA.

- Come enjoy your stay in this Hollywood Oasis, and please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have.

PLEASE NOTE: YEA, there's no more construction noise!! :) April 25, 2014.

Also, you are welcome to use the kitchen for prep as well as the refrigerator for perishables, water, ice, etc.

  • Charles was an excellent host always wiling to give directions and suggest attractions in LA. Great neighborhood close to Hollywood Blvd and other LA attractions such as Hollywood sign. We enjoyed our stay in LA and would definitely go back to Charle's house in the future.

  • Chic was great, the location was brilliant and the room was just as expected. Chic was around to give us good advice on how to get around LA without a car. The room was huge and the courtyard great for our evening meals.

  • Chic was a great host and the room was very clean and comfortable! He was nice enough to take us on short notice, which he usually doesn't do because it takes more time to get the room prepared, but he said it worked out that the room happened to be ready.

A few things I really loved: the water pressure in the shower was AWESOME. The location is right in the middle of everything, but the neighborhood is quiet. I loved how close we were to Runyon Canyon, which if you read the yelp reviews, parking is a number one complaint that we didn't have to worry about. Parking in this neighborhood was a breeze because Chic provides you with a parking pass and he's very aware of the parking restrictions and warned us before street sweeping happened.

I don't think there's anything I disliked. The bathroom is technically shared, which is usually something I don't like, but I didn't even notice. There was never any overlap and the bathroom is kept scrupulously clean. We only stayed two nights, but it was a very comfortable two nights and I know we would return on other LA jaunts. Chic was a great host and he provided little touches that were thoughtful, like artisanal chocolate from an LA-based chocolatier and a California magazine in case people need more ideas of what to do. He was very friendly and both my boyfriend and I enjoyed chatting with him when we were leaving/returning from our day's outings.

  • The most amazing thing about this place is probably the location. On one side, it is merely a 10 minute walk to the Walk of Fame, on the other side, the house is located in a quiet and very green neighbourhood just off Hollywood Boulevard. Since we are on a roadtrip, having a place to park was THE key point in deciding for Chic's place because of the good reviews considering the parking situation. Not only does he provide a parking permit (FREE PARKING!) but also parking spaces were numerous and the neighbourhood felt really safe, so we absolutely didn't mind leaving our car on the street.

The room was spacious and clean and the attached patio is definitely a huge plus. One of our best moments was sipping on a glass of wine on the patio and watching the sun set over L.A.! We couldn't have been happier with the accommodation!

Chic's hospitality exceeded all our expectations as well. It all started when we were greeted with delicious chocolate but also, he was incredibly helpful during our entire stay. He not only recommended places to go to, he even took the effort to research vegan restaurants near his house and always was glad to answer whenever we had a question considering how to get to places. Moreover, we enjoyed ourselves chatting with him just about anything.

Thank you again for everything, we would definitely give you 6 stars if we could!

  • Lovely room and Chic is very friendly. Exactly as pictured. There was construction (March 2014) as noted in other reviews, but I had no noise problems whatsoever. Amazing to have parking in such a great location, and tourists spots such as hollywood walk of fame etc are within walking distance. Runyon Canyon at the top of the road highly recommended for an early hike.

  • Chic has an amazing house, conveniently located in Hollywood, but quietly tucked away from the fray. He's a great host, from my home town, and everything was as advertised on the site. Chic's place is super clean and I had a great time staying there....my little dog loved the park like setting...we'll definitely be back in 2014!

  • A perfect place in Hollywood with a parking place (vistor card) which is priceless. Chic is nice and helpful. Keep in mind you are not supposed to use the kitchen and there is noise after 8:30 in the morning with the temporary construction workers. Otherwise excellent exprerience.

  • Ideal location in West Hollywood with a large room and shared bath. However, room was spartan with old pillows and firm bed.
Demolition and construction next door which woke us up at 730 AM with the sound of the jack hammer. Permit parking on street is provided by host. However, gunk from trees or construction covered our vehicle the following day. Hillside oasis with stairs. Lots of breakfast places to try like Cheebo, Shaky Alibi and Alcove. You need a car to see LA from the hills to the ocean! With a NAV/GPS which offers alternate routes, sightseeing and finding new places was a breeze! Did I say the weather was perfect during our 3 night stay?!?

    Response from Charles:

My house is located in Hollywood, not West Hollywood. The room is exactly as it appears in the pictures. It is large, clean and uncluttered. The bed and pillows are both relatively new. The ease and availability of parking is exceptional for Los Angeles. My neighbor is in the process of rebuilding their multi-million dollar single family home. This is a temporary situation. Please read my other reviews.

  • Great setting in the heart of Hollywood. A very clean and tidy place, Charles was a helpful host. Peaceful apart from the temporary building work next door. Overall, recommended as a very reasonably priced stay for that location.

  • My wife and I had a wonderful stay with Chic (Charles) in West Hollywood. His home is spacious and accurately described/photographed on the Airbnb site. The place truly provides a safe, beautiful and convenient location for visiting Hollywood since it is within easy walking distance of many popular attractions and transportation. Free street parking via a host provided permit also worked out well during our two week stay. LA parking in general can pose challenges but we never had a issue with convenient parking in his neighborhood. Chic was always a willing sounding board for us since we were first time LA visitors. As a long time resident of LA, his suggestions for places to either eat or visit were helpful and always worth considering. Although Chic is a gracious and friendly host, he always respected our privacy. Breakfast is not provided in this location but we enjoyed Chic's daily pot of complementary coffee as we ate continental breakfasts taken in his dining room. We also appreciated that we could store purchased perishable foods in a designated area of his refrigerator. Should we have occasion to visit the Hollywood area again, we would not hesitate to stay with Chic again. Our overall experience was positive and our stay was so much more comfortable than it would have been in many of the area's hotel.
