  • Awesome location and a great host. Unbelievable view and all the amenities. Plenty of privacy and easy access to host if needed.

  • This cottage is delightful and cozy. It was quite windy and cold during our stay but the cottage was wonderfully warm. We intended to go into Portsmouth because it was so close but the cottage was so relaxing to us that we opted to just stay put! As a painter and lover of light, I was in heaven with the beautiful big windows that allowed so much wonderful light in. The sun porch was a lovely place for me to paint during the day. Also we fully enjoyed the gorgeous views of the river out almost all the windows... truly a beautiful spot. And Michael was a perfect host! We would definitely come again! It would be nice to get out on the water.

  • My wife and I visited Maine in late Feb to early March and stayed with Michael. The house is right on the river and the view from the bedroom window is phenomenal. The house has everything you could need and is is located close to pretty much every place you would want to go. We are strongly considering a return trip soon.

  • I am hesitant to leave a good review, because I'm selfish, and I want to be able to return any time that I want, and not have to worry about you all taking the good weekends :) -- Needless to say, my boyfriend and I just wanted to get away from the stress of the immediate Boston area for the weekend. Michael's cabin was incredibly clean and he and Petra were great hosts. They let us have our privacy, but at the same time made sure that we knew that they were available if we had any questions or concerns during our stay. We did some cooking, and a lot of relaxing. PERFECT weekend away. We hope to return for a weekend this summer. We fell in love with the Piscataqua River, the house, everything! I never wanted to leave. We love airbnb! Thanks again, Michael!!!!

  • Michael and Petra were amazing. You can tell they take great care of the place and are very proud. My Fiance and i spent a couple days up there to relax and celebrate our recent engagement. The cottage was rustic and beautiful. We had fun going to Portsmouth, and one night we were completely snowed in with a huge storm. This was fine by us as we spent the evening by the fireplace. Similar to the previous post we selfishly didn't want to leave a positive post we want to be able to come all of the time, summer, fall, winter, and sping.

  • Stayed here over Valentine's weekend. Loved holing up in front of the fireplace, birdwatching, and enjoying the cozy home. The hosts were great, allowing us privacy for our stay but also making themselves available for any questions or assistance we might need (help shoveling, as the case was for us). It's a quiet getaway easily accessible from Boston but feels like it so much further away.

  • Perfect get-away... quiet, full of natural beauty, clean, comfortable and welcoming.

  • We loved staying at Michael's place! When we arrived late the first evening, we found a cozy warm cottage and a box of scones for our breakfast the next day. We appreciated Michael's hosting style: hands-off, but full of information and friendly and available when we needed him. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Our stay at this lovely cottage was spontaneous and turned out to be a perfect weekend. Michael and Petra are gracious hosts, the cottage is lovely, and the location is ideal. When arriving on this idyllic peninsula in the Piscataqua, you get the feeling of being somewhere remote. It's easy to forget that just 15 minutes earlier you were driving through Portsmouth, a beautiful and fun city worth a few days of exploring. Upon arriving, the first thing you'll notice is the immediate welcome of the hosts, who had some delicious local treats waiting for us when we arrived. Their laid back and inviting attitude made us feel at home immediately. Being able to bring our beloved dog along was great for us and Michael and Petra were happy to have her. The comfortable atmosphere provided by hosts like this is one of the reasons that Airbnb is the best way to travel. The cottage is well furnished, in great shape, and very cozy. We experienced some frigid nights and a good snow storm, but the cottage was lovely the whole time. The fireplace adds a great ambiance. We found plenty to do in Kittery and Portsmouth, but were more than happy to sit by the fire with a book, walk the dog, or sit and admire the view. This is a great getaway, and absolutely worth the trip. We'd recommend this to anyone, and it's safe to say we will be back.

  • An excellent winter getaway! It was a treat to stay in this cozy cottage complete with wonderful views of the river from all its rooms. The location was perfect (both the site and the surrounding area) and the house was well-stocked with amenities that may be useful for a vacation.
Michael and Petra were attentive and very welcoming hosts, and they made sure that everything was in order. Their attention to small details (such as a box of delicious scones on arrival) made for a entirely satisfying experience.
Although the weather outside was very cold that week, the fireplace was warm and cozy. A ready supply of firewood and kindling was supplied by the hosts to make it really easy to enjoy.
This rental is tremendous value, and I'm looking forward to returning there...
