Stay comfortably in this beautiful, newly renovated, historical flat with charming original features: exposed brick walls, marble stairways, and a cozy bay window. The front-facing room has a double bed, and the adjacent room has a sofa-bed big enough for 2. There is an open kitchen equipped with cooking & eating utensils and a sweet dining area with natural light from the surrounding windows.
This is the perfect base for a couple or friends to stay & explore the city from. It's directly in the center - yet on a quiet and safe street; away from the noise but within walking distance to everything (5 min. to Istiklal, 20 min. to ferries, 30 min. to the old city, plus lots of public transport around to everywhere).
The surrounding neighborhood is home to both newly-arrived expats and families that have lived in the same homes for decades. There are several small corner markets around for groceries (some of which are open 24/7), and on Sunday, one of the largest and best outdoor street markets in Istanbul is only a few blocks away. Food-lovers will love the local restaurants within walking distance, and we're happy to recommend our favorite places, as (website hidden): smell problem is finally fixed
Listing was precisely as described, comfortable, clean, good wifi, good shower. The host's friends Ali and Amylin were very welcoming, prompt to reply with queries - we had an issue with the key which they sorted within a few hours, can't fault them at all. Location was a 4 minute walk from the main Istikal Street and, although tucked away, felt perfectly safe day and night.
Onder's place was very clean. Even though we didn't meet the host, his friend Ali was a great help. Showed us how to get to the necessary places and he was very friendly. Apartment was well equipped. Recommended!
In general we had a good experience.
We arrive late in the evening and Onder's friends, Ali and Aymilin were very welcoming although we have to sleep the first night in another flat, because they did not have the right keys !
The flat was clean and looks like the pictures. It is located really close to Taksim and Istiklal Caddesi (pedestrian street). The area is very quiet, specially during the night.
Overall impression of the place is quite mixed. We really enjoyed connecting with Onder's friends - his friend Ali showed us the appartment and was very nice to give us small advice how to get around, also we did receive the guide on the local places, which was very useful. The flat itself is very clean and nice, the area is a very quite and close to Taxim square, where there are a lot of places to eat and relax.
What brought our mixed feelings is the following: there were no proper light in the bathroom, the shower was leaking all over the floor. It felt like a small renovation could have done a big difference.
I wouldn't book this place again.
It doesn't look quite as nice as it does in the pictures, but it's still a nice enough place. The problem with it is that the bathroom has been poorly installed and the drainage of shower water is too slow, leading to a strong smell of mildew throughout the apartment. We had the windows open as much as possible and it wasn't too bad. The overhead lights in the bathroom were not working, but there was a lamp. This meant that the plug socket in the bathroom was in use and so couldn't use a hairdryer in there. The people involved with the apartment are helpful and friendly though.
Very nice place. Great location. Hosts were very helpful and nice.
Enjoyed our stay here. The flat is compact, functional, well renovated, secure and clean. Also a great location, really liked the area. Short walk to the main shopping street and a good stroll down to the water.
It didn't smell very fresh sometimes, think there might be an issue with drainage. Also often quite noisy at night.
Great directions to find it and really helpful 'map for guests'.
We were met by Ali who was friendly and helpful.
Communication was a bit patchy when we were there.
Great little flat in good location. Close to Taksim Square and all the food and shops. Önder was great with his communication and his friend Amylin who assists him with guests was vrry welcoming and helpful upon my arrival.
We went to Istanbul with the family in March this year. The city seems crazy, although protest have left their marks on the population.
Onders friend Ali met us at a taxi and saved us from the corrupt taxidriver. He is doing the check ins and outs. We only saw him once, when we came to the apartment.
The apartment is quite clean and has a perfect size for three people. The door is safe and the neighborhood is alright. Not very posh, a bit poor maybe but very authentic and super close to Taksim and Istiklal Caddesi (shopping street).
Since we did not bring our own towels we asked Ali's girlfriend - who made a great orientation tourist map for the guests - if we could get some from them. This was not a problem. All three people I wrote with about the apartment were super kind.
The beds are comfortable but don't forget to ask for extra sheets for the couch because there is this narrow gap in it through which the cold can come in.
All in all we really liked the flat and the area.
There is a lot of stuff to do if you are lucky with the weather.
A small thing I would improve: Please provide Oil, Salt and Pepper and Hand towels in the kitchen.
Other than that thank you for the nice stay!!
