We are within a five-minute walk of both the The Aquarium, the largest in Europe, and Porto Antico, the touristic port district restored by Renzo Piano. The Principe Train Station is about a 10-15 minute walk, and all the museums of the Strada Nuova are closer than that.
The neighborhood is pretty quiet, but the lively university quarter around Via Balbi is very close, and on foot you can also reach also Piazza Erbe cafe area just as easily.
Our flat has 6 rooms with 90 square meters, a typical unit in Genoa's ancient buildings. It is located near a corner of the Sottoripa, the long colonnaded arcade along the touristic port area, near the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the historical center.
The main square of Genoa, Piazza De Ferrari, is only a 10-minute walk away, and two metro stops are also very close: the San Giorgio and Darsena stops. Buses run from and to Piazza Caricamento and Piazza Nunziata, both about 5 minutes away.
Rooms include a little bedroom for you and a living room with a sofa bed and also an armchair which can serve as a single bed. Furnishings are not elegant but are very cozy and clean, with a CD and DVD player. The little bathroom is modern, with toiletries and a hairdryer, with towels and bathrobes included.
Benefits also include a flat-screen TV in the living room, but only Italian channels, and facilities for making tea and coffee.
You can use the kitchen if you want without any problem.
Wireless internet is available for free.
We have no rules except to request normal cleanliness, politeness, and, as we get up early in the morning, no noise during the night!
I stayed here with a friend for the weekend and it was super nice. I did not see Alice and her boyfriend much as we were rushed to see the city. But I highly recommend them and their hospitality. (:
We loved staying here. Alice and her boyfriend make a great couple and we had fun with them for the short time spent in Genova. Thank you Alice!
I spent an awesome month with Alice and Mirco. They were great hosts. The apartment is very cozy and close to the city center. I recommend this room.
The hosts Alice and Mirco are friendly, welcoming, attentive, and responsive. The apartment is spacious, with good kitchen, bathroom, clothes washer, and computer access. The climb of the entry stairs may be an issue for people with any limitation on mobility, but otherwise is not bothersome.
The location is on a side by-way just inland from the Via Sottoriva aisle of arcaded portici fronting the Ancient Port, facing specifically the Acquarium. The Airbnb listing of the address is inaccurate and must be corrected to indicate Vico Giannini, Apartment 6A; otherwise finding the correct location is very difficult. The building is less than five minutes from two different stops of Genoa's metro, and has several different low-cost grocery stores nearby. It is at the foot of the historic Centro Storico, no more than a five- minute walk from the wonderful Strada Nuova/Via Garibaldi parade of 16th-17th century palazzi, and a little more to those of Via Balbi, with Genoa's main train station another five minutes on. It takes about 12-15 minutes to walk, even with luggage, from that train station to the apartment. Being in the middle of the Centro Storico is a delight, and a continuous revelation at the discovery of the peculiarities and attractions of each different little passage thru the medieval labyrinth. A joyful place to be, an excellent base for exploration hosted by a fine couple.
The apartment is really cozy, the room is nice and everything is near to the Porto Antico and the city center. Alice and Mirco are perfect hosts - I felt really welcome and would advice everyone to stay at Mirco's and Alice's place while visiting Genova!
