Looking for a breezy quiet get away with an ocean view, surrounded by coconut palms? Look no further.
A private exterior staircase takes you up to The Coconut Lanai. The breezes off the Kalapana Coast rustle through the coconut tree canopy that surrounds this airy upstairs apartment. Seven sets of sliding glass doors and a walk-around covered lanai encircling the entire apartment and provide the open and verdant feeling of a tree house. The manager and local artist, Heather Wilkinson, lives downstairs in this two-story house in Seaview Kalapana Estates with her wily cat Mr. Undertoes. Heather will be your source for how to get the most out of your stay on the Puna (east side) of the Big Island of Hawaii.
Your unit accommodates two persons and consists of a living room, dining area and kitchen in an open floor plan. The large bathroom and a bedroom with a queen size bed both open onto the lanai. The living room has a full size fold-out sofa bed and a partial ocean view. The kitchen, which is fully equipped, has a microwave oven, gas stove, new refrigerator and a dishwasher. The unit has complimentary wireless internet. The unit does not have a telephone, we recommend using Skype through the internet to make calls. Cell phone service is spotty in this area, there are some hot spots down the road. We have a brand new state of the art water filtration system so you can drink the rainwater out of the faucets. We have very recently converted the entire house to Solar Power. Parking is available on the street. We have a coin-operated washing machine and a propane dryer. There are also many clothes lines available for drying clothes.
The atmosphere here in Puna is totally laid back, friendly, and in tune with Nature.
There are locals markets Wednesday night and Saturday morning 10 minutes down the road at Uncle Roberts Kava Bar. Kahena Black Sand Beach is only a three minute drive from the Coconut Lanai, and many great attractions including flowing lava, warm ponds , snorkeling, surfing, and steam bathing are within easy driving distance down the Red Dirt Road, which is actually paved now. Important additional information
The damage deposit is $100, and will be refunded after your departure as long as there is nothing damaged or missing in the apartment.
