Interaction with Guests
We are available, (we live upstairs), and as longtime residents of Atlanta, willing and able to offer advice, directions, etc. if you need them. We also work, nearby.
This is a lovely, walkable, area, with restaurants, and a local grocery just up the street, and lots of friendly people out walking walking, jogging, gardening, etc. Lots of green space, old growth trees, and beautiful gardens.
Marta train station is about a 15 minute walk from our place , then hop on the train to most areas of the city, or travel to the airport.
Other Things to Note
sorry we don't book more than 3 months out unless it is 3 days or more, if more than 6 months 4 days or more. If you have issues with stairs then this is may not be the place for you! However, we have another unit across the corridor, with the same amenities, and no stairs, so check that out.
No cleaning fee. Respecting this place and leaving it in a reasonably clean and orderly condition will allow us to fully refund your deposit as we would love to do. we are eco friendly and would appreciate keeping the thermostat at a reasonable temperature the summer while in the apartment and adjusting if leaving for the day. we have ceiling fans in all the rooms and that helps keeps things cool on their own. especially responsible with water, as Atlanta is challenged in it's water resources. Debra and Dennis provide an amazing getaway with their Urban Oasis. My boyfriend and I recently took a short trip to Atlanta and our wonderful experience was complete with the comfortable abode the Oasis provides. When we arrived, we ran into Dennis who greeted us warmly, but we did not have the fortune of meeting Debra. Despite this, Debra checked in with us every day and I knew that if we needed anything during our stay, we could reach out. The neighborhood this listing is in is incredibly accessible to all parts of the city and has some adorable places within walking distance. On our way out of the city, we happened upon Candler Park Market that's only a few blocks away and wished we had come across it sooner. If you're there for a longer period of time, I highly recommend stocking up on a few things and taking them to back the comfy haven that is Debra and Dennis' place. Had we not been there for such a short time, I would have loved to have connected with Debra and Dennis to pick their brains about the surroundings. I will definitely do so the next time I'm in Atlanta!
Debra and Dennis were in excellent contact about the arrangements and Dennis showed us around. We also had a couple of pleasant conversations--they are an easygoing interesting couple. Responsive, but not intrusive. We found the description spot on, "Urban Oasis"--walk down a wood path and wide steps from the street and through a wood breezeway, (not the 3-D map on the wall and other neat art) and you are in a different world, small fishpond, lots of decks, a wooded and cleared area, a stream...lots of singing birds and on occasion, a great little grey and white cat. We spent some of the time we were there on our "private" deck. It was perfectly sited for our needs (doing research at the Carter Center) and there were a plethora of great restaurants around. We especially liked the Folk Arts Restaurant. The street was quiet and there was always a place to park. We didn't use the kitchen (which along with the bathroom is up a fairly steep set of stairs) but it would have been fine...we preferred to eat out. The picture on their site shows it quite well. We watched a couple of movies and used the internet. We would stay there again, or in their newly completed studio apartment which is across the breezeway and also very private.
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying at Debra and Dennis's urban oasis! They were very helpful and accommodating. Their place has wonderful character, is private and quiet, and very centrally located. It took 10-15 minutes to get to Piedmont park and downtown. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen has all the appliances necessary if you're staying longer. Would definitely recommend staying here
Dennis & Debra,
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home for the past few days. It was a such a charming place and the location was perfect! It only added to the great experience we had in Atlanta. It was a wonderful setting to spend our short getaway.
Thank you once again for welcoming us into your home!

Listing was precisely what it said it was. You need to go down, essentially, behind the main house to find the door. Private patio, which I did my work on one afternoon. Everything was clean and kitchen had coffee :) I was a happy lady.
Was in a GREAT location near food, shopping and a quick drive downtown. Good neighborhood, felt safe as a solo traveler.
This apartment was everything we needed for our Atlanta stay. It's location makes for easy access to the surrounding neighborhoods. (Also, the Natural History Museum is right across the street). It was clean and comfortable and very peaceful. Our hosts were very nice and helpful; I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Highlights include an amazing backyard and fantastic water pressure in the shower. Recommended.
Great neighborhood. Nice place. Separate apartment to yourself. It was very cold (30-34°F) & there is a wall unit heater in the small living room. I didn't think it was sufficient for the whole place. There was plenty of blankets for the bed though.
Hey Neil, we really don't like people to be uncomfortable and had you told us we would have told you to bump the central heating up and or the new system on the wall goes up to 80 degrees. When we introduce ourselves we always ask people to let us know if you have any questions and we mean that!

Hello! Thanks for considering our space in your travel plans! My wife and I are artists, who own a small furniture store, where we feature hand painted furniture and lovingly restored vintage items. We like to travel, ourselves, and used AirBnB exclusively, on a long trip in Italy last year, and loved it! It's a great way to meet people, and get the skinny on what it's really like to live in a certain place, and find out the inside scoop on where to go, and what to do. We are big walkers, and urban explorers, so glad to help you with suggestions and tips, if you want them.
Welcome to Atlanta!
