Create a truly memorable & filmic experience by staying in this spectacular new architectural home perched on the hillside of Silver Lake. The camera flows through huge sliding glass doors onto decks overlooking the Silver Lake Reservoir with the Griffith Park Observatory and Hollywood Sign beyond. The camera gazes across the shimmering water to look through John Lautner's masterpiece home, Silvertop.
As the camera pans inside, you will see rooms designed by the architect, Tom Marble, who drew inspiration from both Frank Lloyd Wright and John Lautner’s use of hexagonal geometry to bring in light and create flow in multiple directions, inviting you into spaces both severe and surprising: with no right angles, this home dares to truly think outside the box.
The interior is a spectacular flowing space that belies its modest area of just 1100 square feet, with custom built-ins give the home a nautical feel, as if you are in a boat floating above the reservoir. And despite the steel structure, the spaces take on a more exotic flavor, aided by the Japanese decor, the king size bed floating on tatami mats, and a living room with comfortable pull out couch and TV.
Enchanted by the diamond-shaped master bath, the camera dissolves between a shower gleaming with golden tiles and a large bath with its own unobstructed view to Silver Lake. A jump-cut to the kitchen reveals a series of vignettes of stainless countertops and appliances, a Viking Stove, and a warm travertine peninsula atop Douglas Fir cabinets whose shape resonates with same hexagonal geometry.
The camera follows you out of the house, down the flowing steps to Silver Lake Reservoir itself, capturing perhaps a romantic walk to a coffee shop, restaurant, or bar; it follows you as you pass the dog park then stop by the meadow where you see athletes stretching, kids playing and flying kites, hipsters communing in circles.
This has to be one of the most beautiful places in Southern California.
Located 15 minutes from Hollywood, 45 minutes from LAX, 45 minutes to Santa Monica , and 15 minutes to downtown.

Tim's beautiful home is like paradise. Perfect location, design, comfort...how could anyone want to leave! Tim himself is extremely kind and attentive as host, and could not have been more accommodating, flexible, or kind to me over the weekend. Thank you so very much
Such a great experience, everything from the ease of making the reservation with Tim before we arrived to the amazing view from the two balconies. Tim was a great host and we only saw him when we arrived and when we packed up to leave. Always easy to get a hold of through text though. The architecture of this house is just purely stunning. Not a right angle in the whole place! The bed was super comfortable, plenty of towels, well stocked kitchen, close to everything in the Silver Lake area. A truly private home up in the hills overlooking the Silver Lake reservoir, the Hollywood sign and the observatory. Will definitely be calling Tim back for future stays.
amazing house well situated not far the main Silver Lake neighbourhood with stunning views to the lake. The house is completly new even if the kitchen appliances needs to be changed (cutlery, pans...). Perfect for a retreat and relaxing week.
Excellent accommodations! An honor to stay in this beautiful architectural work of art. Thank you Tim for your gracious hospitality.
Can we move in? Tim's house was incredible and we loved our stay.
The space is really one of a kind and you tell that Tim thought out every square inch of the place in his design. It feels like you are staying in a magazine photo shoot location. The view from the large deck is unbelievable and it is fun to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sunset over Silver Lake. Tim was the perfect host- very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed meeting him. I highly recommend staying here and hope to go back and stay again soon.
What a house! What a home! What a view! Great host, Tim was kind and easy to communicate with. By far my best Airbnb find. I agree with the others who said, they want to keep this place a secret. This house was built with love and it is felt. The view is so good you might overlook the multitude of sweet details from Tim; fresh flowers on the table, nice soaps in the bathrooms and the softest bedsheets. Tim has a gift for design and for those who appreciate, you will enjoy the 'look'.
The house has a unique quality of making you feel immeadiately at home and safe.
There are steps and streep streets surrounding this gem but it's worth the climb.
I call Tim’s modern masterpiece The Flying Dutchman. It looks like a teutonic ship tossed up into the hills, where it hangs Ark style. Every angle of approach is impressive and I found myself wandering from room to room and deck to deck to appreciate the thoughtful way in which it was designed and executed. It is very close to “the city” but seems miles away; the setting is tranquil with views of the LA foothills to the south and the Silverlake resevoir to the west (crowned by the Hollywood sign and the observatory in the distance). At night the water reflects the glittering hills above it, making it magical. Tim has kindly provided everything one needs, including new appliances (minus micro). He's also genuinely pleased to make guests comfortable and will answer questions you might (website hidden) is included, but I doubt you’ll come in from those decks long enough to actually watch anything except a favorite show. Only regret: I didn’t stay longer.
I've just spent some divine time in Tim's place. I know everyone who's been has rightly praised it to the skies, but I want to join the chorus. The aesthetic pleasure Tim provides in this stunning creation would be hard to top, and I thank him for an unforgettable experience.
We almost feel we shouldn't leave any positive comments to keep the secret for us ...
But yes Tim's house has been beyond our expectation in terms of comfort, design, equipment ... and the view has been our everyday delight. We stayed 2 weeks in LA and the flat has been a big part of our trip ... we even had few friends to come for a sunset "apero" on the terrace.
Tim has been welcome, helpful, easy ...and fun. He's sincerely happy to share this home he has so committed to create.... And its beautiful.
We will come back and send friends for sure !
Tim's home is absolutely lovely! It's an immaculate space with gorgeous views - I spent so much time on the balconies that I didn't even miss watching TV (ok, I'll admit - not having a TV seemed like a big deal in the beginning but didn't affect our stay at all). The shower was super luxurious and the light was breathtaking. A wonderful place to spend a vacation!
