Affordable, easy-going, and close to Old Town, Poudre River and Horsetooth trails. Oh, and we have loaner bikes.
Clean one-room garden house with wood stove near the Cache La Poudre River and Old Town Fort Collins. Private access and parking in safe and quiet semi-rural neighborhood. Kids and pets welcome in our large fenced yard complete with shaded patio with outdoor fireplace, gardens, 1 dog and 9 chickens.
We're an adventurous couple with two daughters who like to cook, garden, raft, kayak, rock climb, backpack, hike, flyfish, run, knit, and mountain bike. We've lived in Colorado our entire lives and 21 years in Fort Collins and can give you lots of great suggestions for the area. If you're flying in there's no need to rent a car since we're just one block from a bus stop or you can borrow one of our townie bikes and take the Poudre River trail 2.5 miles to Old Town, Odell or Equinox Breweries. Take the trail 3 miles west to Laporte to hear some honky-tonk or bluegrass at the Swing Station.
The Garden House has a comfy queen sized bed and we can add a cot, inflatable mattress or pack-and-play upon request. Guests can access the bathroom and shower through the back door of the main house (just 5 feet away). Garden House also has WIFI, electricity and electric heater (but no AC). You're welcome to use the dining room, kitchen, stove and fridge in main house.
Pets are welcome, there's even a doggy-door so your pet can go in and out as it pleases.
Kayakers and rafters are welcome! We're only 15 minutes to some of the best whitewater in Colorado. The Cache La Poudre River is protected as one of the last "Wild and Scenic" rivers in the United States.
From DIA take Greenride or Supershuttle right to our doorstep ~$48.
Guests can access the bathroom, kitchen and dining room anytime day or night. They're also welcome to light-up a fire in the patio fireplace and hangout there as much as they please (being respectful of host and neighbors' sleeping patterns of course).
Interaction with Guests
We've met some amazing people through Airbnb and love hanging-out with guests. We also recognize that some people like to lay-low and we respect that too.
We live on a gravel road in a semi-rural part of town surrounded by open space. There's horses across the road and we often see deer. Guests often remark about the number of stars that are visible.
We're one block from the bus stop and you can plan your route on Transfort #9. For bikes we're .5 miles from the Poudre river trail system.
Other Things to Note
Old town is 2 miles away. The Poudre river is 1 mile. And reservoir ridge trail is 2 miles.
Your welcome to smoke on the patio (just not inside the Garden House). Please, clean up after yourself. Turn off electric heater and seal wood stove door before leaving. Respect the house, animals, and people. Report any spills or damages. We charge $50 for lost keys (what it would cost us to change the locks).
+ Yard +
Please make sure the gate is closed when you come and leave so our dog and chickens don't run off.
+ Kitchen +
You're more than welcome to store food in the fridge and use the kitchen to cook at anytime. Please put dirty dishes in the dishwasher or in the sink if it hasn't been unloaded. Help yourself to eggs, milk, juice, bread, cereal, coffee, tea, waffles and condiments.
Take extra towels if you need them and leave dirty ones in the hamper (in the bathroom closet).
+Your welcome to use the patio, the grill and fireplace. Lights are inside the back door. Be sure to turn them off.
We arrived late due to a delayed flight, and Annie & Dave were super accommodating with out untimely arrival. The wood burning stove in the room was such a perk. Everything was very easy and we had lots of privacy.
The one con was the bed- it was very hard and wasn't the best for us.
Annie and Dave are awesome people and I had a lot of fun staying there. Thanks for having me!
We felt at home immediately as Dave showed us our cozy space in the garden house, the back yard, and the parts of their home that are always available to guests. Annie and Dave are incredibly generous, fun, and accommodating hosts and friends. We enjoyed free access to the patio, fireplace (one outside, and one in the garden house), the grill, the kitchen, eggs, and anything else we may have needed. We truly felt like we were staying with great friends in Fort Collins and we will definitely be back. There's no where else worth staying at in Fort Collins. And eating fresh eggs on the back porch was definitely a highlight!!
Review from Jack (5 years old): It has two kids. One is two and a half, one is like 10 or something. It also has chickens- they're really fun. When you try to pet one, when they look at you they'll run away. When you are careful and pet them they don't runaway. You should only pet them with one finger and be sure to wash your hands. The dogs name is Clairie and she likes to play fetch. It's a great place for kids to stay because it has like this little cabin place in the back yard. You can see a lot of mountains and Dave lets you watch cartoons in the morning with Lily. I got to pick fresh eggs and you might get to too. You should stay here.
We had a lot of fun in Fort Collins. Annie & Dave were very generous and helpful- even inviting us to their Easter celebration. We borrowed their bikes to go downtown (Dave showed us a shortcut)! All in all was a very pleasant & welcoming experience. And we have to give a shoutout to Clarry- their oh so sweet border collie.
Annie and Dave welcomed us with"make yourself at home" The cottage was a cute as advertised. Sharing the bathroom worked out okay. Annie and Dave let us use their gas grill to cook dinner which was a welcome change from restaurants. They also were pet friendly as advertised, allowing us to bring our daughters dogs to the house. It was worth the $43 a night.
Dave had cold beers waiting for us when we finally made it into town. The garden house was super cozy, and the entire family made us feel comfortable and right at home. Awesome location close enough to everything we wanted to do but still just on the edge of town so it was nice and quiet and relaxing. Perfect vacation spot!!!
