About this listing
Affordable, easy-going, and close to Old Town, Poudre River and Horsetooth trails. Oh, and we have loaner bikes.
Clean one-room garden house with wood stove near the Cache La Poudre River and Old Town Fort Collins. Private access and parking in safe and quiet semi-rural neighborhood. Kids and pets welcome in our large fenced yard complete with shaded patio with outdoor fireplace, gardens, 1 dog and 9 chickens.
We're an adventurous couple with two daughters who like to cook, garden, raft, kayak, rock climb, backpack, hike, flyfish, run, knit, and mountain bike. We've lived in Colorado our entire lives and 21 years in Fort Collins and can give you lots of great suggestions for the area. If you're flying in there's no need to rent a car since we're just one block from a bus stop or you can borrow one of our townie bikes and take the Poudre River trail 2.5 miles to Old Town, Odell or Equinox Breweries. Take the trail 3 miles west to Laporte to hear some honky-tonk or bluegrass at the Swing Station.
The Garden House has a comfy queen sized bed and we can add a cot, inflatable mattress or pack-and-play upon request. Guests can access the bathroom and shower through the back door of the main house (just 5 feet away). Garden House also has WIFI, electricity and electric heater (but no AC). You're welcome to use the dining room, kitchen, stove and fridge in main house.
Pets are welcome, there's even a doggy-door so your pet can go in and out as it pleases.
Kayakers and rafters are welcome! We're only 15 minutes to some of the best whitewater in Colorado. The Cache La Poudre River is protected as one of the last "Wild and Scenic" rivers in the United States.
From DIA take Greenride or Supershuttle right to our doorstep ~$48.
Guests can access the bathroom, kitchen and dining room anytime day or night. They're also welcome to light-up a fire in the patio fireplace and hangout there as much as they please (being respectful of host and neighbors' sleeping patterns of course).
Interaction with Guests
We've met some amazing people through Airbnb and love hanging-out with guests. We also recognize that some people like to lay-low and we respect that too.
We live on a gravel road in a semi-rural part of town surrounded by open space. There's horses across the road and we often see deer. Guests often remark about the number of stars that are visible.
We're one block from the bus stop and you can plan your route on Transfort #9. For bikes we're .5 miles from the Poudre river trail system.
Other Things to Note
Old town is 2 miles away. The Poudre river is 1 mile. And reservoir ridge trail is 2 miles.
Your welcome to smoke on the patio (just not inside the Garden House). Please, clean up after yourself. Turn off electric heater and seal wood stove door before leaving. Respect the house, animals, and people. Report any spills or damages. We charge $50 for lost keys (what it would cost us to change the locks).
+ Yard +
Please make sure the gate is closed when you come and leave so our dog and chickens don't run off.
+ Kitchen +
You're more than welcome to store food in the fridge and use the kitchen to cook at anytime. Please put dirty dishes in the dishwasher or in the sink if it hasn't been unloaded. Help yourself to eggs, milk, bread, cereal, coffee, tea, oils, spices and condiments.
Take extra towels if you need them and leave dirty ones in the hamper (in the bathroom closet).
+Your welcome to use the patio, the grill and fireplace. Patio lights are inside the back door. We often leave them on if we know you're out and will be coming back, please don't hesitate to turn them off when you return.
Had a great stay. We basically slept, showered, and took off, but the garden house was very clean and comfortable and Dave was a gracious host. He was kind enough to set up an air mattress for us before we arrived. We'd definitely stay again.
We ended up getting into Fort Collins around midnight and Annie was kind enough to wait up for us. We didn't stay very long but the garden room house was very cozy and it was exactly what we needed for a brief stop on a long, long road trip. Annie was incredibly accommodating; we were traveling in a moving truck with a hitched car and a pet! If we're ever in Fort Collins again, we'd definitely stay again, and hopefully long enough to get a chance to try their famous eggs!!
Dave and Annie were very welcoming and truly made us feel at home during our visit. The bed was comfortable and the two fans in the room kept it cool even in 85-90 degree heat. We were able to share the refrigerator with them and use various spices and oils for cooking a few nights which was very convenient. Their dog is very sweet and was friendly toward our dog. Their yard is very securly fenced and the guest house has a doggie door which was very convenient for when we were out during the day. You can even play music on their patio which is great on the warm summer evenings. I highly recommend staying here to anyone looking to visit Fort Collins.
Great location, cozy bed, yummy fresh eggs, convenient access to bathroom along with fantastic hospitable renters that made for a wonderful stay.
Thank you Dave and Annie for welcoming us into your home. We hope to visit you both again.
Annie and Dave, thanks for a wonderful stay! We were sad to only have one night in Fort Collins, but so very glad we stayed with you! The guest room is just wonderful-the bed is comfortable, and the room overall is very cozy! We enjoyed our time at your home very much. Excellent hosts and location!
We really enjoyed our time in Annie and Dave's cute little garden shed. Quaint and convenient and the family is sweet. We didn't take advantage of them this trip but the fresh eggs look wonderful!! Make sure you shut the gate so the chickens don't get out!
I had a lovely time staying with Annie and Dave! Their home is beautiful - I loved the outdoor patio! The guest house is just as advertised - clean, comfortable, and private, with a really cozy bed and a nice table to eat / work at. The location relative to downtown is very convenient, especially by bicycle (which Dave and Annie lend out - a very nice touch!). As hosts, Annie and Dave were very generous and hospitable, and made me feel at home.
