About This Listing
These are the only wood-framed, blue buildings in Tamarindo! They are well built and have the essentials you'll need for a pleasant stay. Full kitchen, AC, TV, wireless internet
It is a short walk to the beach, shopping or eating.
The property is gated, and the common area has an outdoor shower, lounge chairs and beautiful, natural flora.
You have your own space, a full kitchen, but not a hundred other guests to contend with. This unit sleeps 4 adults comfortably. Upstairs is a queen bed, downstairs, two singles that can be pushed together for a cozier feel.
The A/C is upstairs, but will cool the entire house down when the widows and door stay shut. There is hot water in the shower and the kitchen has the things you'll need to cook a meal at "home".
Each unit has a full kitchen, bath and space where things can be hung to dry. Our helpers may be able to do some of your laundry if the washer is not busy with sheets and towels. Just ask and we will try to make it happen!
Interaction with Guests
Bob is often busy in his shop, but when he's not, both he and Sue may be found hanging around the property (working or relaxing) or on the beach. Don't be a stranger, please say hello and help us get to know you!
The neighborhood is close to everything. If you are coming to attend one of the Spanish Institutes, you would only have a short walk to class every day! The cabins are close enough to walk but far enough to not hear the late night noise of the bars!
Walking is pretty easy in Tamarindo. The side roads are un-paved, but the main roads are paved. It may get a bit dusty in the dry season, but there is a shower in the common area and the beach is always close by (600 meters)! There is parking at the Cabinas, so if you rent a car you will have a place to park just outside our gated area.
Other Things to Note
This is the four person cabin, so if you ask for this one and only have two or three, we reserve the right to change you to another cabin in order to free this one up for a larger group. Thanks for understanding.
We all try to respect one another and keep the noise level down when others are trying to relax or sleep (early mornings before 8 am or evenings after 8 pm).
To help keep the cost of renting our cabins low, please help us conserve electricity. Electric costs are quite high here in Costa Rica, so if you are leaving for the day, please turn off the AC, the lights and the fans. The cabin will cool down quickly when you return and you don't waste electricity! Thanks so much.
Bob and Sue were absolute stars. Out of all the places we stayed around the whole country, Cabinas Madera Azul was easily my favourite thanks to this lovely couple (and Bella). Great, charming accommodation, the hosts were helpful, hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. 100% (email hidden)d if I'm back in Tamarindo I'll definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful time at the cabins with Bob and Sue. Sue was available for help with anything and the cabins were set up with a full kitchen and BBQ in the courtyard area. Cabins are air conditioned which I feel is a must and walking distance from the beach!
We came as a group to Cabinas Azul and rented all three cabins. Bob and Sue stayed up to meet us when we came in late. We had an amazing time! Sue recommended an amazing sailing adventure with fabulous food and lounging on bean bags! She also pointed us in the direction of Xplore Costa Rica and we took two tours with them and greatly enjoyed both. We took a trip to Playa Avellanas for food at Lola's, surf and Lolita the pig mascot, which I would surely recommend. The cabins are all super cute with a lot of personal touches from Sue. This is a great place to be able to cook meals, but still have the option to go to town and buy a meal, which helps save money. The court yard is a quiet haven to rest between adventures and heading to the beach to surf or play in the water! I missed my own pup, but was able to get some love from the resident dog, Bella. She was so sweet once she got to know us! Buster, the cat entertained with his energetic play in the yard. Had an amazing time in Tamarindo and staying at Cabinas Azul! Thanks Bob & Sue! Can't wait to visit again!
Bob and Sue were very gracious during our stay. We had an unexpected circumstance where my cousins had to leave early, and Bob and Sue let us borrow their ipad to skype our family and even assisted in getting my sister and I to the airport on the day of our flight departure. Sue cooked us cookies our second day in Tamarindo, let us borrow some vegetable oil to cook our eggs for breakfast each morning, and gave us anything we needed to help us to feel right at home! We loved having Bella and Tina (their dogs) as company as well. The cabinas were very accommodating and comfortable. We didn't have hot water in our cabina but then again, most places in Costa Rica don't have hot water so this is not something that we were concerned about. We were there for the experience, and we were definitely able to receive that at Bob and Sue's cabinas, literally a walk to the beach. We were able to see the beautiful sunset every night we were in Tamarindo! We would definitely stay with Sue and Bob again if we had to do it all over again! Thanks for all your help, your hospitality, and friendliness Bob and Sue! We appreciate you making our stay with you in Tamarindo a pleasant one!

Bob and Sue were very helpful, there when you needed them and full of great insights into the area and things to do. The cabins are cute, clean, and it is an easy walk into town and many restaurants, and an even shorter walk to the beach.
We arrived late at night and Bob and Sue met us at the gate. The next morning I couldn't find my wallet. Turned out I had lost it OUTSIDE THE GATE. But luckily Bob and Sue and the dogs found it on their morning walk before anyone else did.
If we are in Tamarindo again, I would certainly stay here again.
