When I first found Crannong Eco Farm on Airbnb I didn't expect anything like the experience I ended up with - after arriving at the farm and being greeted by Marion we were shown to the longhouse, and honestly the pictures are beautiful but still couldn't do the place justice. Everything was made of wood and decorated with natural objects. There was a fire running in the stove, and two lovely dogs waiting for us by the door. We explored the farm, on which sheep, dogs, chickens, ducks and horses are kept, along with a large pond full of frogs. Behind the farm there are over 40 acres of land, and although we only walked through the land for an hour and half there were so many beautiful sights to see - there were hills for miles and so many interesting things to find in the forests. We discovered the Hogan (a wooden, circular building with a hole on the roof and a fire pit in the middle) that Flor built, me and my girlfriend spent both our evenings there, buildings fires, listening to music, just enjoying the peace and quiet that the farm offers. Throughout the whole trip the only sounds we ever heard were that of the birds and occasionally the animals, there were no cars or sounds of the city, the air was quiet and clean and it felt so healthy to breathe. We shared the long house with a family of five, and although that made seven of us in a small house there was nothing but love there - sharing the experience with strangers just enhances it, opposed to making it too crowded. We attended an intermediate yoga class with Marion on the second night which was interesting, educational and calming (even though I managed to pull a stomach muscle - but I think that was just me trying too hard..) She popped her head into the longhouse a few times a day to make sure we were okay and that we knew anything we needed to know about the day, herself and Flor were extremely pleasant hosts who left us to our own devices but were always around if we had any queries or wanted company. The longhouse is heated via a stove which was a new experience for me but the place was always warm, the toilets were compost toilets which were clean enough and although I was a bit scared (being a city girl and all) we managed fine. We brought all our own food but all the cooking utensils we needed were provided. All in all the experience was one I'll never forget, the people we met, the views we had, the different, interesting and exciting way of life was something I'd never come across before, but me and my girlfriend will be back as soon as possible, with friends to share the experience with!
Flor gave us a nice welcom and me and my daughter liked to stay here. It was a little advanture for my daughter and we had fun exploring the property. Here is a playground and horses and chickens and dugs and dogs and sheaps and ..... We got planty of options for things to do in the area as well. The accomodation is nice with lovely litle details and all the things you we needed in a selfcatering accomodation.
