Our apartment is on an island: Isola dei Pescatori, Stresa, one of the three Borromeo Islands on Lake Maggiore. It is simple, old, with wood on the ceiling and stone (cotto veneziano) on the floor. It faces the lake and is furnished with old authentic furniture. It consists of a main living room, a bedroom a bathroom with shower and a small kitchen.
If you come by train the best station is Stresa, if you come by car we advise you to leave your car at Baveno (the nearest village). Every 30 minutes there is a public-boat to Isola dei Pescatori from both the two villages Stresa or Baveno. There are also private boats.
On the island there are many restaurants and various shops. The food is however more expensive on the island and we advise you to go to the main land to do the big shopping. It is quite fun and 10 minutes by boat.
The apt has been furnished with antique and original objetcs. What we do care about is respect for the place while enjoying its quitness. We also ask each guest to leave kitchen and kitchenwares clean.
For staying longer than three nights we ask 30 € as cleaning expences.
Listing description was accurate. The apartment was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. Anna met us at the dock, was gracious and welcoming, and took the time to get to know us and answer all questions before leaving. If one wants to get a feel for life on the island, this is a good location to do it.
Our stay in Anna's flat was just perfect. The island is so quiet after 6pm until 9 am it was a real pleasure... The flat was very clean and comfortable. Anna also put a small bed for our 1 year old daughter. That was very nice of her. we truly recommend this place!
The house was charming and wonderful, small but had everything we needed. The hosts were very helpful and kind and the island was easy to get to on a Ferry that comes every half an hour. It exceeded our expectations and we had a fantastic time!
a truly great and unique place to stay at isola superiore dei pescatori a couple of days! the appartment is very cute and cozy! the little kitchen is perfect if you want to cook some pasta etc. we would recomend this place to everyone who wants to stay at isola superiore! thank you anna and rento for everything!!
We stayed in Anna and Renato's apartment this week and found it to be quite charming. Plenty of space, everything one needs and the situation just perfect. A great place to relax; just sorry we couldn't stay longer. They are a very special couple and couldn't have been more helpful. The restaurants on the Island are very good and reasonably priced. Once again Anna and Renato, thank you for a wonderful stay. We shall certainly return again.
Renato welcomed us when we arrived on the island and showed us to the beautiful apartment. The apartment itself is very cosy and old-fashioned, ideally located for lazy evenings on the island after all the tourists have left! Frequent ferries connect you to mainland Stresa as well as the islands Isola Bella and Isola Madre, which are both worth a visit.
Anna was very friendly and helpful before we began the trip, with prompt responses to our questions. It was a very enjoyable holiday and I recommend to anyone wishing to visit Stresa to stay at Anna and Renato's!
Pay attention to the last ferries arriving to the island at night and the first ones for Stresa in the morning so as to make sure your arrival and departure works out ok.
we are a couple in our fifities with two grown up children who are currently studying arts and architecture. Anna is a high school teacher while Renato runs a small bookstore on Isola dei Pescatori, Stresa.
