We had a lovely weekend escape in Brigid and Bill’s charming home. The farmhouse is warm and comfortable with lots of character & it was great to have use of the cosy living room to relax in the evenings. Bed was comfy, and the freshly prepared homemade breakfasts were delicious. Brigid and Bill were more than helpful with local info, maps, weather forecast reports with breakfast, and good tips for food locally that were all spot-on. We enjoyed the company, felt very at home and hope to be back - would highly recommend!
We were made to feel very welcome, Bill and Brigid's house was cosy and comfortable, with many small touches to make one feel at ease. Bill was very chatty and attentive, but knew to leave us in peace to relax as well. They had very useful local knowledge, and the house is in a beautiful, peaceful place with lots of things to do and see in the area. The honey from Bill's bees was delicious too!
This charming cottage is the real deal. Very quaint, comfortable and homely with a lot of space. Bill and Brigid were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Esperienza fantastica! Assolutamente raccomandatissimo!
Such a wonderful, homely place to stay. We were very impressed with how well kept and decorated our room was and we had a whole side of the house to ourselves! Very friendly host who was happy to chat but also gave us our own space. Highly recommended!
Sandra and I spent two lovely days here. This country B&B is first rate. The premises are like a small apartment with every facility, delightfully decorated. Brigid and Bill cared for all our needs unobtrusively. We recommend this facility without reservation.
Bill and Brigid are the perfect hosts. They are so lovely, helpful and attentive but also really relaxed. They bring you tea when you need it but give you a lot of privacy. It was like staying with friends. Their cosy and beautiful home was the best BnB we ever had. It is so very special and lovely decorated. As a guest you don't only have your private room and bath room but also a whole living room including a chimney and a comfortable couch and armchairs. Next to the living room we had a breakfast area which we didn't always used because of the good weather: Breakfast in the sun outside was the best. We had fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals, toast, jam, selfmade honey, bacon and cheese. Additionally we chose pancakes one morning: Bill is a great great chef!! We did not only fall in love with their house, garden and the landscape but also with their pets. They are so charming and lovely. We really didn't want to leave after 8 days because it was heaven on earth! Everything was clean and well equipped. After a day outside in West Cork we were so happy to come back "home" ... and we definitely will!
Magdalena, with Dominik, it was having friends to stay! you are the very best and we look forward to your return asap. Since you left Brigid keeps asking me if 'you are going to be alright' and 'will you get lost', she really loved having you to stay.
Our home is yours
About the Host, Brigid And Bill
We love this area and we love living with the history of a West Cork farmhouse. We enjoy walking with our dog and nothing 'detoxes' the mental system and feeds the spirit better than a walk on a wild, stormy beach.
Living in the countryside puts us in touch with the passing of the seasons and the beautiful, ever changing, range of colours on the hills in front of Dromforde tell the time of the year to us.
Bill plays Golf at Bantry, the most friendly club you couild wish for and with views to die for.
We both garden, Bill tends to do the planting while Brigid does the weeding but we both share the pleasure of eating all the fruit and veg that we grow.
Brigid is an avid reader while Bill is the typical 'Shed man', mending making or just tinkering in his workshop.
Together with one of our sons, Toby, we have a company, Greenhus, building Passive and low energy timber frame houses in Ireland. A new venture for Bill but learning a new and better sustainable way of living, from Toby, has been a rewarding challenge for both of us. Our other son, Patrick, is doing very well in the Music Business in London playing in several critically acclaimed Jazz and Ska bands.
We both wish to welcome you to Dromforde.
