At Dromforde you can enjoy the real experience of an original West Cork Farmhouse. We are just a family house with two rooms to share with visitors to the area.
Dromforde has been sympathetically restored with its exposed beams and low ceilings maintaining its integral history and character.
We ran an Interior Design Business for 25 years in S Devon, UK. before moving back to Ireland. Dromforde has been featured in both '25 Most beutiful Homes' and House and Homes' magazines.
When our two sons had finally left home, we were attracted to West Cork in 2001 because of Brigid's family connections and by the varied artisan food producers and interesting mix of perople, artists, writers, potters, furniture makers etc. who find themselves in West Cork. It is a real creative mixing pot! West Cork is so unexpected.
You will have a seperate entrance and stair case to your own private landing giving off to one room in which we can either give you a double bed (6' wide) or twin beds and another beautiful little single bedoom. This room will be ideal for a third member of your grouip, or a child. Between these rooms is the shower and WC.
You are welcome to enjoy the sitting room with wood burning stove to relax in after your day out seeing what this area has to offer.
We both enjoy cooking and eating and will promise you a good breakfast with fruit, fresh coffee, our home made bread, marmalade and preserves with, of course, our own honey!
You can also have local artisan produce of bacon, sausage and egg (€5) or pancakes and bacon with maple syrup (€5). What better way to start the day!
While we have a dog and two cats we promise you wont see them unless you want to! If you suffer from associated pet allergies, sadly we might not be the best place for you to stay.
There is a good election of restaurants nearby and we will happily drive you to and from ( small charge) so you can enjoy that very good bottle of wine.
Dromforde is 10 k from Bantry and 12 K from Ballydehob

Brigid and Bill are delightful hosts! Their charming farmhouse was more than a home away from home and I only wished my stay was longer. I look forward to a return visit.
Staying with Brigid and Bill at their charming farmhouse was one of the best moments of my girlfriend and I's trip to Ireland. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, but we'd go back to Ireland just to stay here again. They were truly wonderful hosts, offering us tea at our arrival and making us an delicious breakfast in the morning. The room and living space are incredibly cozy with a fireplace and books to explore. I can't recommend staying here enough!
I had a lovely stay with Brigid and Bill for 2 nights in the west cork farmhouse..on arrival I was offered a cup of tea and shown to my lovely room..bill told me where to go in Bantry to get the best fish and I really enjoyed the meal..breakfast was all homemade and really delicious .. I would recommend to everyone to book the west cork farmhouse its grand
What an amazing place.
The house is beautiful and cozy, with a welcoming fire in the fireplace. Bill and Brigid make you really feel at home, and love to pamper you with their homemade breakfast. The crunch to chew ratio of Brigid’s toast is just so perfect!
The house is lovely decorated and very clean, the beds are very comfortable so you wake up fully rested to explore the gorgeous surroundings.
The area is nice and quiet, and nearby Bantry is a lovely little town.
We loved staying with Brigid and Bill. They are warm and gracious hosts with a lot of entertaining stories! The guest accommodations were an entire section of their house, giving us a lot of privacy, but allowing us to still enjoy the coziness of being in someone's home. The breakfast in the morning included the best pancakes we have EVER had! We only wish we had stayed here for more than 1 night and will certainly try to come back. Highly recommend!
Adorable cottage dans les montagnes dominant Bantry, idéal pour se reposer à la campagne. Bill et Brigit sont des hôtes charmants et (website hidden)ès jolie adresse (attention il faut aimer les animaux !)
We spent a wonderful weekend here while visiting Cork and Kerry and everything was just as we'd hoped it would be. The overall standard of the accommodation was extremely high, the bed was enormous, the breakfasts delicious and substantial, and Bill and Brigid were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. A little gem! ;-)
Brigid & Bill were the perfect hosts! We were warmly welcomed with delicious Earl Grey Tea and biscuits! In our interesting conversation we received numerous helpful advices on our further journey and the stay in Bantry! Bill even called the famous Fish Kitchen to book a table for us- the food was delicious!
We loved the homemade fruit salad for breakfast and we had the honour to taste the honey of their own bees- just to mention two specialities of their great breakfast!
You have to see this beautiful house and garden which is situated in a very peaceful area! We would love to come back! Thanks Brigid & Bill for this perfect stay!
Brigid and Bill are wonderful hosts, and their cottage is delightful - authentic, comfortable, and ideally situated to enjoy the delights of West Cork.
What a special place. This is a true gem and such wonderful spot, I almost want to keep it secret. With its traditional farmhouse features beautifully restored and completely in keeping with its surroundings, Dromforde was such a find. Bill and Brigid were so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, try the pancakes!!! Good strong coffee too. We had a lovely room, looking out to the garden and it very much feels like you have the place to yourself with the added bonus of having the locals next door for restaurant recommendations etc It was so clean and tidy. We felt at home straight away. It was nice and sunny while we were there which was lovely to enjoy the garden but can imagine it would be a right little haven in the winter with the fire going and a good book (of which there are many in the house) so we'll be back. We had a car but Bill & Brigid very kindly offered to drop us into the village if we wanted to have a drink which we may just do next time! Bantry was so charming, lots of places to eat, shops and great place to have a wander. If you are looking for an authentic Irish farmhouse experience, a relaxing space, a home away from home, or simply to meet some lovely people, this is the place. Only regret..........we only stayed one night. Next time it will be for longer. I would highly recommend a stay here for anybody.
