The Exchange Building, completed in 1910 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was refitted in 1996 to house 202 attractive efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, penthouses, and handicap equipped units. While the building has undergone a series of renovations, every effort has been made to preserve its historic features, such as the original mosaic tiles, an early-1900’s era Tennessee marble staircase, the elaborate plasterwork, and the granite surfaces. The towering marble ceilings of the lobby exude the elegance of downtown living.
Located in the heart of the Downtown Neighborhood – near the nightlife, restaurants, and shopping – our apartments are the ideal home base for exploring the city. Living in a 19-story skyscraper allows a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River. Walk outside and explore the rich, dense neighborhood. Fine dining is offered within blocks at renowned restaurants such as Rendezvous!, The Majestic Grille, or Flights. Enjoy a pint at the neighborhood Irish pub, The Brass Door, or make the three-minute drive to Beale Street and relish in its famous bars such as Silky O’Sullivans, Alfred’s, or Bardog Tavern. You could also take the trolley to Beale St, to the Pyramid, or around the downtown area, since there is a trolley stop a block away.
The apartments provide a homey feel with a luxurious touch and high-quality amenities. Several of the units located on the higher floors provide our residents a spectacular view. Units come with a kitchen, fully equipped with refrigerator, microwave, oven/stove, pots/pans, and dishes. The Management office on the first floor is ready to assist you during business hours, and, as many of my residents already know, I am always just a phone call away. A laundry room with coin-operated machines and a gym on the top floor are easily accessible through the three elevators. The 1511 is a one bedroom, one bathroom unit with large windows perfect for enjoying the view atop one of Memphis’s skyscrapers. The small, yet open living room forms the center of the unit, giving it a close feel. Think a hotel room, but much more like home. Enjoy watching the trolley roll by on Main St. from our cozy 1511 unit.

Place was as expected. Great views and location; building and room was a little dated, but clean and nothing was broken. Would return.
Sardor and his staff were super friendly and helpful. The apartment is located in the heart of downtown Memphis, convenient to Beale Street, the river, and dozens of great restaurants. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and well furnished. I highly recommend this apartment!
Listing was relatively accurate, though apartment is a bit shabbier looking than in pictures. The major downside, though, was that there was no ventilation in the bedroom, as the windows were sealed shut and there was no air conditioning.
Sardor's place is in a great location, walking distance to Beale St. The description was very accurate, and checking in and out was really easy. This is a great home base for exploring Memphis and a really good value.
Excellent stay in a fantastic location (great view). The host had the place ready and in excellent order when we arrived! Highly recommended.
The room is in a perfect location in a clean and nice neighborhood. We found free street parking right outside the building. It is conveniently close to a lot of cool restaurants/bars, Beale st, and FedEx forum. The room is the perfect size for a weekend getaway. We were welcomed in the Lobby and check in was super easy. We were given rooms to a different unit than was listed on the reservation, which was not any big deal. The room was decently clean but seemed the maids hadn't finished. The coffee table was on the couch and the bedspread was folded up from vacuuming. The TV was left on, which worried us when we first walked in because we weren't sure if the room was empty or not! The sink was dirty, but we didn't really need it anyway. The carpet and couch had a few stains also.
We loved the building and the view and will definitely come here again for our future Memphis visits!

I was born in Uzbekistan and raised in Memphis. I'm the middle child, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters -- and recently a 4 time uncle (& soon a 5 time Uncle!!!!)! I've been fortunate to travel the world in my early years and learned a lot about the different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning about geopolitical history, architecture, and technological advancements that benefit the myriad societies around the globe. To me, Memphis is an exciting city that competes with the great cities of the world as a worthwhile stop for play and leisure. Allow me to host you in my apartments, located in the historic Exchange Building in downtown Memphis.
UPDATE: Due to the increased traffic, I hired additional help to make the check-in process more convenient for my guests. The lobby now has a staffed Frontdesk, where you will be able to get any assistance, should you need it. I hope to see you while you're in Memphis, but I do travel a lot and sometimes I miss out on meeting my guests personally. I hope you have a wonderful stay at The Exchange and please don't hesitate to contact me via Airbnb should you need anything.
