Private room with Queen size bed in my home near Alberta Arts district. Surrounded by gardens and artistic works, this home is a gallery and gathering space for special events such as concerts, yoga classes, art openings and other happenings. This is the Cully neighborhood with large, sprawling lots full of gardens and mature trees and walking distance to all of the art, food and music you desire on Portland's famous Alberta Street. Near major bus lines and MAX, this town is known for it's simple and efficient public transportation. Our neighborhood has it all though: art galleries, wine bars, sake house, sushi, Thai Food, African food, Ale houses, a plethora of restaurants, music venues, parks, shopping, art and food carts, tea houses, dessert spots, bike rental, bike paths, walking paths, unique local-made clothing/jewelry, vintage second-hand store, theatre, New Season's grocery store offering conscious, organic choices, and a new restaurant opening up just around the corner: Old Salt Marketplace featuring a restaurant, butcher's counter and bar.
The bedroom is spacious with about 180 sq. ft, a queen size bed, other sitting options, good light, bamboo floor, and a shared restroom just a few feet away. The two other rooms in the house are also listed on Airbnb and the house has many common spaces to enjoy such as the living room/gallery, shared kitchen and garden. Here you can expect a peaceful, relaxing stay or getaway. The house is clean, tidy, bright and welcoming and you might just find many pieces of art in the gallery to fall in love with! Currently I am showing ceramics, photographs and paintings. More to come!
I am a ceramic artist and have a studio on-site. Lessons can be arranged by appointment if this interests you during your stay!
The pictured baby grand piano is used by Portland vocalist Jonathan Brinkley to teach voice lessons from time to time. His sessions are playful, inspiring, refreshing, and benefit more than just singing. He is available should you decide you'd like an impromptu lesson!
Your own bedroom, and shared spaces such as kitchen, bathroom, living room, and yard.
Interaction with Guests
I live here and hope to show you around the space. I keep busy with artwork, business and a full-time job, otherwise.
Yes! #75 bus can take you to the Hollywood transit center in about 5-7minutes. From there you can take a Max train to anywhere inside or outside of the city. Also, a bike rental shop in in the 'hood. Easy, bike-friendly town!
Please park on far right or far left of driveway, making sure not to block anyone else in, or park on house-side of street in front of house. We all clean up after ourselves to keep the space bright, clean and fresh. Remove shoes upon entering house. Quiet hours are between 10PM-8AM. We have a whispering practice between those hours. Please avoid using perfumes, colognes or strongly scented products while you are here, as I am sensitive. I do, however, love to burn natural incense (Nag Champa) and sage. Smokers: please smoke away from the house as we like to avoid smoke coming into the house through open windows. Be as brief as you can in the restroom as there is only one for the house. The kitchen is available for your simple, brief, and tidy meal prep.
This place was lovely. The house is big, light filled, and super cozy-just like our hosts! Jenn and John are so kind, and even gave Michael a birthday gift to a great bakery nearby. The house is so close to several great places (pine state biscuits, little big burger & Mississippi records to name a few). We had a warm and wonderful stay here and would definitely stay again. Thanks for everything!
The home was very cozy and offered a great Portland experience. I interacted with the other residents a bit and enjoyed all of our interactions.
*Guests should note that quiet hours are from 10 p.m. To 8 a.m.
Jennifer greeted my sister and I upon arrival at her home. She was involved in Portland Open Studios the weekend we visited and was still able to greet us. We had a quick tour of the home and went over the "house rules". When we saw the house rules when we booked the space, my sister and I both felt a bit uneasy... we were worried we would feel like we were in high school sneaking around after curfew! Not the case. In fact, it was nice to have a quiet space to come home too!
Jennifer was very friendly, and Johnathan gave us recommendations in the Alberta Arts District. Both were familiar enough with TriMet (public transportation) to help us get around a bit.
The location was good- being pretty near the artsy street with great restaurants and bars. Room was clean and comfortable. All was fine!

About the Host, Jennifer
We are Jennifer Love and Jonathan Brinkley. I am Jennifer from Portland, Oregon via Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a ceramic artist by day and work in a local Southern Italian restaurant in the evenings. I love music and learning about music. I practice yoga, am learning about meditation and love to hike in the forest. I enjoy gardening and am currently harvesting kale and spring greens. One of my life mottos is to work hard and play big. Five things I can't live without: fine dark chocolate, kale, music, dance, and sunshine. My favorite traveling destinations so far are Sicily and Todos Santos, Mexico. Oh, how I love the desert, cactus and the gentle sound of palm trees rustling in the wind! I have a dream to run a large Bed and Breakfast, Hacienda style with warm desert colors, lots of tacos and homemade ice cream! Jonathan is a musician and voice teacher. Together we have traveled all over Europe sharing Jonathan's music via concerts in peoples' living rooms! We love to host and share all of our favorite spots in Portland.
