Casa Colorín isn't just a place to stay: it's a place to find the real slice of Mexico you're looking for. The house's location and design highlight the best of urban Mexican living.
This beautiful and recently updated casa is perfect for the traveler who wants an authentic Mexican experience. Centrally located in the Santa Teresita neighborhood of Guadalajara, the house is within walking distance of fresh squeezed orange juice, piping hot tortillas, and a traditional Mexican open-air marketplace. Banks, restaurants, currency exchange, bus lines, and other conveniences are also within 3 blocks of the house.
The house was remodeled in 2007 by the owners, who aimed to bring a vibrant energy to the house. Set in an “L” shape, the house is bordered on the long part of the “L” by a patio and garden with pomegranate, lime, guava, avocado, papaya, and mandarin trees, as well as an outdoor eating area and a quiet hammock space to relax and enjoy the colorful cascades of bouganvillea blossoms. The house sleeps 5, featuring a queen sized round bed in the master, and a queen/twin bunk bed in the second bedroom. The fully equipped kitchen has beautiful granite countertops, and there are two living rooms: one with couches and another with a composite wood floor perfect for stretching out and doing some yoga. A detached office is located in the back part of the garden, and has a built in desk and bookshelves, high speed internet, and is the ideal retreat space for those in town on business or doing a little bit of work on vacation. The two bathrooms are clean, both have hot water showers and one also has a large bathtub perfect for a relaxing soak. Other amenities available on request include maid and cooking services, reliable and trustworthy child care, and use of a local cell phone.
The house was beautiful and Annie was very helpful. My mother and I stayed there for 11 nights and were able to enjoy several open air markets (tianguis) that we wouldn't have known about without Annie's help. I loved eating breakfast and dinner out on the patio and hanging out in the hammock. There were several affordable places to eat nearby and we ran into quite a few friendly people around the neighborhood. I liked being in a residential area and felt safe walking home at night. I highly recommend staying here.
Annie's place was amazing. It was that rare occasion that I rather stay at my guest house than go sightseeing because the house itself is such eye candy! Everything you can think of to make your stay perfect is there.
On a side note, I traveled with a disabled girl and her caregivers were very concerned about the area being safe and her being able to handle the bathroom and layout of the house. The master bedroom was perfect for her since the shower was very handi-friendly and the layout of the house was flat so she managed with her limp quite easily. And the area was super safe.
Hola una casa hermosa y tranquila la verdad no dudaría en volver a hospedarme, Annie lindo suma persona muy amable y atenta todo perfecto! Gracias
Very nice experience in Guadalajara. The house felt very authentic with a great backyard and a roof with excellent views. Kitchen was well equipped and the round bed was our kid's favorite. The water pressure in the shower could have been better (a very minor concern for us), otherwise the house and its location are great.
Casa Colorin was a wonderful place to stay! Three of us spend a great Christmas there, and a few days either side, and loved it. The house is a treat, and the Santa Teresita neighborhood is a great place to be. Lots of tacos/tortas/birria/jugos... and all kinds of things neaby, and the Sunday tianguis comes within a couple of blocks. Annie is a great hostess and we had a great time.
We just completed 10 days - Nov '13 - at Annie's Place. If you want to know how the working class locals live, if you want to know what it is like to live in an original "oldie" brought up to date inside, this is the place to be. The neighborhood is wonderful; we made friends with the baker at La Ciabatta round the corner - great great great bread! We also made friends with some of the tienda owners in the open market. We walked till we dropped it was such a good location. And, when we wanted to go to Centro City - no problem - cheap cab.
Finally, if you want one of the best hamburgers in the World you must find and go to Gaspar. BTW, their amazing hamburger rolls are made by La Ciabatta.
Thanks Annie and Jose.
Casa muy agradable, tranquila y bien centrada en la ciudad.
Excelente, la recomendó
Beautiful, quiet, clean, private, great daily fresh markets nearby. Great antique market on Sunday. Enjoyed the garden. Nice office space with monitor to connect; if I were to work there for an extended period of time I would arrange for an office chair for proper ergonomics. Cannot say enough about the artful window glass! Enjoyed our stay and would return. Annie is a great host and always quick to respond.
The house is a charmer. Besides the round bed and the colored glass windows the neighborhood is quiet. There are plenty of places to eat and buy things close by. Avenue Americas is only several blocks away and you can catch one of the inexpensive taxis to anywhere in the city. The house cleaning is done every week and I quickly settled into life in the barrio. You can't go wrong renting this place.
