About this listing
lovely old vendangers house set into the rear of the walls of the chateau of Cesseras. In a very quiet street where there is no traffic. House consists of large kitchen/diningroom, Lounge, sunny terrace, 3 bedrooms, bathroom and toilet
The house has been well renovated in keeping the original dwelling, but adding modern features and comfort.
The house is situated in the old part of the village between what was the château and the ramparts (no longer visible except in very small areas). This narrow street is very safe as you can only enter with a car to unload/load.
There is a good Cafe in the village which serves food in the holiday season. There is a grocery shop that also serves as a bread depot. In the town of Olonzac (4km) you will find all shops, banks, restaurants etc. necessary for your stay.
There is a lake nearby where you can swim (lifeguard) and the are places in the local rivers to swim also (unguarded)
You will need some form of transport as the local buses are infrequent, I do have a variety of bikes to lend.
John was a great host he made us feel very welcome and recommended some Vide Greniers in the area for us to visit. The property is beautiful, homely and full of charm, we loved it and are looking forward to our next visit. The village itself is also very pretty and peaceful and perfect for countryside walks.
Excellent rapport qualité-prix.
My family (myself, son, daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters, aged 4 and 8) found the house to be exactly what we wanted: A large, beautiful, well equipped kitchen (with cosy wood stove and wood stocked to feed it), three comfortable bedrooms, wifi (mainly accessible from living room), all in a lovely, quiet little village a short drive from Carcassonne, Narbonne and Bézier, with other medieval Cathar villages nearby. It was unusually cold, as it happened, so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor terrace, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
About the Host, John
I am an artist/sculptor working in the Minervois region of France.
I like to travel simply and meet local people.I don't like package tours,
I have no preferences of places or countries to visit, Ideally I would like to have visited most countries one day, time will tell if I achieve that. I am happy discovering new places and things locally, it is not always necessary to travel abroad. My preferred methods of travel locally are walking and cycling.
