This is a 1920s cottage artistically remodeling to utilize every square inch of its 400 square feet to perfection. Come see how beautiful and efficient it can be to live in a small space. The cottage is set in a beautiful wooded back yard just 2 miles from downtown. The cottage sits on the highest crest in East Austin with a wide view of the valley below. In fact you can see all the way to the airport. This cottage has been remodeled with handmade furniture to artistically utilize every corner of this old house. The Cottage has AC and heat, Queen Tempurpedic Bed, and a Full Service Kitchen with everything you will need to cook for yourself.
The cottage is very secluded and quiet. The trees and songbirds have a way of making you feel you are not in the city. There is a beautiful backyard shower and claw foot bathtub with hot water.
I am a massage therapist and facialist and am happy to offer discounted rates for my guests so just ask. I also offer an herbal bath treatment in the open beauty of the outdoor tub.
There are several restaurants within walking distance. And I am happy to help you with suggestions of great close by restaurants on the east side. The bus line is close by and easy to use. Look up Metro's Go Line for information before going to catch the bus from Crest Ave-my street. There are Car-to-go nearby and I provide rides here and there based on my travels around town.
I have a couple of bicycles you are welcome to borrow. There are bike lanes from my home to downtown which is a 15 minute ride. There is also plenty of space for parking right in front of the house if you have a car or inside the gate if you desire this. This is the best side of town for avoiding traffic both coming and going, easy-in, easy-out.
The cottage is located in a neighborhood of artists, business owners and old neighborhood folks - its in the process of gentrifying which means it is ecomically diverse. Come experience the Austin East Side.
Guests will have access to the Cottage, outside sitting area, and the bathroom which is in the cottage. If the Airstream is booked, The folk will enter the bathroom from the outside.
Interaction with Guests
Most of the time I personally check guests in and I will interact as much as you need but otherwise I assume you'd like your privacy. Sometimes I'm out of town.
This is a neighborhood in the middle of big change. ```` Since there is a fantastic view of rolling hills from this spot, investors and individuals have been buying all the lots and building fantastic beautiful homes all over this little street. Once you travel one mile you start to get into little restaurants and stores that have a very Austin feel. I will send you a complete guide of what there is to do within 2 miles of the hotel when you book.

Show love for the space which is so easy to do because it is so beautiful and peaceful. You will feel like you were transported to a stress free zone. Everyone that comes cannot believe the view because it is so spectacular.
The living room also has a twin size mattress on the "couches" which also serve as storage.
Deb's hilltop cottage is a lovely little haven. I came to find a retreat after long business meetings, and it was everything I had hoped for. I was able to watch a lovely full moon one night and listen to a riotous thunderstorm the next. Deb has provided a space that is easy to inhabit and feel comfortable in. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this for anyone looking for respite in a unique environment. The hillside view of Austin is amazing.
Deborah's cottage was a perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway. I didn't think it could exceed my expectations from the reviews and description but it really did. The view is honestly the best I got to see in Austin and makes the place so tranquil. (As a bonus we could see the moon from the bed...that was incredible.) The backyard is so peaceful. The neighborhood is definitely off the beaten path but not far away from where everything is happening. It's the perfect balance. Tip: get Car2Go, it'll make coming home at night safer and easier.
The bed was comfy, the decor is cozy and funky, and it has everything you need. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, it's perfect. For us we didn't have a hitch with the bathroom. Since it's part of the cottage it's not inconvenient - you just have to put up the sign that it's occupied. It'd be nice to have a private bathroom but for the price we couldn't complain.
Great little east Austin hideaway. Deborah was great. Make sure to take advantage of the outdoor bath tub.
The cottage is a clandestine, magical sanctuary in a cool, up-and-coming neighborhood. I was surprised to learn that many of the restaurants I wanted to try were within the same neighborhood. With lots of unique charm and an amazing view of the city, this hilltop cottage is definitely recommended.
What a great location! This quiet bungalow is located in the midst of a quickly gentrifying area. There were four houses under construction on the same street! The property is very warm and welcoming. Sip your coffee out on the patio or stay in bed and listen to the birds chirping--perfect for long, lazy mornings. I usually have a very hectic schedule, so it was nice to get away to this tranquil abode. The kitchen and bathroom functioned perfectly. "How do I turn on the heat? Why is this light not turning on? Where do I catch the bus?" Debbie preemptively answers any and all questions you may have ahead of time via email and there are notecards strategically placed in the home with all the 411 you need. Debbie is very kind and had breakfast with us the last morning. I would definitely recommend this place!!
The pictures don't even begin to capture what a little paradise this is - it's like a little pocket of serenity just a stone's throw from downtown. The cottage itself is cozy and beautifully decorated - a great place to unwind and relax before/after a busy day, and the backyard/view are...I mean, the word that comes to mind is "therapeutic". Deborah clearly went out of her way to make the place as accommodating as it is and it felt comfortably like a home away from home.
I was in Austin for SXSW and the cottage was an incredibly welcome retreat from the frenetic nature of the festival. Sitting outside with the little french press in the morning was one of my favorite things ever.
I never actually got a chance to use the outdoor tub but I have it on good authority that it's an absurdly relaxing experience that I'm bummed I never really got a chance to try (by the time I got around to wanting to use it, the weather got a bit nasty).
All in all everything was super easy and as far as everything on my trip is concerned, the Airbnb was the one thing I didn't have to stress about at all.

About the Host, Deborah
I find myself living outside of our industrial complex often enough where I have time, space and peace in my life. I seem to live an abundant life where I am so thankful for all my silly creative friends, amazing healthy food to eat, time to play and create, and a job that makes sense to me. I am amazed at everything that grows. I love to walk in the rain. I don't mind running into snakes.
I have lived many lives. A mother and wife of 18 years, lived on a community I started in South austin raising farm animals and vegetables with some of my friends and now living on the east central side of town enjoying Austin Life while I work as a massage therapist and facialist out of a studio in my home. I also work in a Aveda Salon in North Austin.
I am a creative/nuturer type. Prefer to play music or spend time with people, animals or plants.
