Comfy restored room in Old Quito

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Vicente Rocafuerte, Quito Canton, Pichincha, Ecuador

The Space

Beautiful, comfortable, independent restored bedroom /suite, with private bathroom, sunny private corridor/working area; authentic antique furniture, colonial and art-deco. Terrace with an interesting view of surrounding architecture and mountains.

Ours is a historical, XVI Century house, mostly restored. We are located in the heart of the Colonial Quito, one block from La Ronda Street, half a block from Plaza de Santo Domingo, three blocks from Iglesia de La Compañía, three blocks from Casa del Alabado and Plaza de Santa Clara, four blocks from Plaza de San Francisco. Many call us: ¨casa de las Tías,¨ due to our great-aunts` work, generosity towards the surroundings´ community. This place, always was and is an ¨slow house.¨ If you are looking for an authentic space, surrounded by the wonders of Quito´s ¨Centro ¨Histórico¨, this is the right spot.

Some areas of this beautiful 470 year-old house still need to be restored and are periodically being worked on.

We, artists, live work and own this house; we share our place with our friendly, polite cats.

Very close access to public transportation: trole, buses, taxi.

Three blocks from our house, from 7 am to 7 pm, a recently inaugurated Qmandá Park offers some fun alternatives such as:

- "Baño de cajón", literally means, box bath, used as a relaxing treatment.
- Swimming pools
- Gym
- Aerobics, etc.

If interested, we will be glad to help you arrange a visit of one, two or more days within Indian Communities two or five hours North and South of Quito.

  • Something has be spectacular for me to review and Fancesca's Comfy restored room in Old Quito is one of those. Charming, warm, inviting, friendly are just a few adjectives that describe her lovely home. Francesca herself is an incredible woman who loves what she is creating within her historic house. From the french press morning coffee to the home made breakfast meal complete with delicious fruit and home made sesame milk, a great way to start each day to explore Quito. Her family is lovely and if you have any need she is there for you. Need a special ride arrangement, she's got it, need some other service or recommendation, she's got it. Stay their and you will be blessed with an amazing location and everything else that Francesca offers you as a host to her home and country.

  • We had an amazing experience staying with Francesca. It was our first time in Ecuador and Francesca was warm, welcoming and had a wealth of knowledge to help us have the best time in both Quito and the rest of Ecuador. Our accommodation's were excellent with tea waiting when we arrived and a healthy beautiful breakfast every morning. Francesca's home is like a museum with breathtaking artwork and old Spanish feel. We loved our stay and hope to see Francesca again during our future travels to Ecuador.

  • Francesca was one of the loveliest hosts I have ever met. Such great hospitality is difficult to match! From the true kindness and care to the rich breakfast and useful advice, over warm smiles and intelligent conversations: an unequaled experience. Thank you, Francesca; it was great to stay with you! :)

  • A magnificent home with wonderful hosts, and perfectly located in the most beautiful part of the city! Francesca and Daniel have created a super cozy and comfortable guest area in their home. In addition, they themselves are a fascinating couple, with much knowledge to share about the home and city, not to mention their own creative endeavors. My wife and I loved staying with them, and wish we could have spent more time there. We will definitely stay again when we return. Thank you Francesca and Daniel!

  • Francesca welcomed us into her home and was extraordinarily gracious and helpful throughout our stay. I had decided that, for my first visit to Ecuador, it would be nicer to stay with a host than in a more impersonal hotel. This was absolutely the perfect choice for us: her beautiful home in Old Town is well-located yet very quiet, the room is private, spacious, gorgeous, and comfortable. The breakfasts are generous, fresh, and organic. Francesca is extremely friendly and helpful; she arranged our transport from the airport, speaks perfect English, has a wonderful sense of humor, and is very generous with her time and enthusiasm. I wholeheartedly recommend this b'n'b!

  • Francesca and Daniel are such wonderful hosts ! She was paying attention to any details to help me during my stay. They both are artists with stories to tell. Staying with them feels like being at home.
And their house in the old Quito is so beautiful and peaceful that l wish that l will be able to be back in Ecuador to enjoy their quiet place and for sharing time with them again !

  • We felt right at home here, from the very start. A lovely appartment in a beautiful patio house, located in the centro historico neighbourhood, which is very well patrolled by police.
The very kind and hospitable hosts went out of their way to help us. Stories, practical tips, herbal advice, companionable breakfasts, and even a stately candlelight dinner.
The paintings from one of the hosts decorate the hallways. The other host is a master puppeteer. We enjoyed tagging along on local busses to a puppet show outside of Quito.
All the charm and hospitality we were hoping for, and more!

Casa de las Tías, Quito.
I am a member of Airbnb for some months now, I currently live in Ecuador, I work in the arts. I am a painter. I, we are, indeed, privileged to be able to restore our 475 year-old historic house in Quito's "Centro Histórico". Ours is one of the few historic houses which has always been "alive" and well kept. Historians: Fray José María Vargas, Dr. Fernando Jurado have written about our house. When you choose us, you are helping us continue our work. We love to share our big house, our comfortable kitchen, our organic homemade bread, coffee, etc. We found clear evidence of a very interesting, XVI century fresco right in our kitchen!!! We really like that our guests feel welcome, at home. Living here is like traveling, comfortably, back in time. We have an small puppet theatre by the colonial patio; if you wish, you may join us any time. If you like to learn more about our puppets, we are "La Puerta títeres". If you choose to stay somewhere else, come and visit us anyway. We will be happy to welcome you and share our art, some of what we do.
