My stay at Vic's place went well. Vic responded to every request I had in a very timely manner. He went over and beyond to make my stay exceptionally comfortable.

Spent two weeks staying in one of the back cottages at the SJ HackerHome. The location is in a quiet bedroom community. Street parking and driveway parking was fairly easy. Kinda far from any restaurants or sports bars, although Mi Pueblo Market a couple streets away had a good taqueria inside the store. Overall, a decent place to stay for a single guy like me.

I'll start with the positive: Vic is a very gracious and responsive host, and the communication with him was smooth. I liked that I could have my own space and could bring my cat with me, as I was staying semi-locally (I live in Oakland, but was working a very intense week in San Jose). It made it very convenient. It was also great to be able to use the free laundry facilities, and parking was easy. However, I have to ding him for not being clearer in his listing. There's the main building, but there are also two back cottages/in-law units, and everything is listed together, so it's impossible to know when you book what your accommodations will actually look like. I was put in one of the cottages, and while it was nice to have my own space, I have to admit I was less than impressed with the state of the place. It had bunk beds, which wasn't clear when I booked. The screen door was off its hinges and sitting next to the front door. The overhead light didn't work, so the place was very dark, and one of the windows wouldn't close all the way. I wasn't spending tons of time there, luckily, due to the hours I was working, but given the choice, I wouldn't stay there again.
