The HackerHome Network
Whether you're new to the Valley, bored with your current housing or need a transient place... I would like to help. When you reserve with me, you'll have instant friends and be part of a network of 12 homes in the Bay Area.
Cute one bedroom unit all to yourself! Newly remodeled bathroom and floors. Ground level and has an enclosed private patio.
All utilities are included and free WIFI.
Clean linens/bedding are provided + a fresh towel.
Why would someone say light cooking? Home prepped meals really warms up the house and it's encouraged. There's just a small kitchenette in this unit, but if you'd like to cook a fancy meal, you're welcome to use the big kitchen in the main home.
Interaction with Guests
You're not sharing your living space, but you have the option to hang out and interact with other guests.
We are a very communal/respectful group and strive to provide space for everyone to work and hangout. Remember that work, musical instruments and books take precedence over the television.

It has been great staying at Vic's Hacker Home in San Jose. He is friendly, outgoing, dynamic and extremely helpful. His brothers and sisters (that's how he calls his visitors) is a young and energetic crowd from all different types and backgrounds. A unique experience that widens your view on the world. Delightful!!!
Vic is been great in making my stay pleasant. The apartment is "keyless", so you can choose freely the time of your come in and come out. It is at about 1km from the center, located in a residential, very quiet, area. It is a cozy place, with the "main house" few meters outside. I had no opportunity to hang out with the guys in there, but when I asked them for help they are been always very friendly.
Speaking of services, there is everything you need. I had to buy nothing, everything was already there.
If I would like to come here again? Sure, it's been a good stay.
Vic was super accommodating and responded with emergency haste when my wifi wasn't working. He promptly came over and fixed everything. The location was central and great and I'm definitely going to stay there again.
Everything was great! House, garden, common space, people, community. House is also great; beds, bathroom, furniture. We lived there 3 people for a month and believe me it was just like our home. We had few small issues but Vic and Vinh, superheroes, solved everything in hours or a day. They are excellent, warm people and also friends to you should have! We will definitely stay in contact with them and consider one of their houses next time we come to US. Thank you for everything!
My experience with Vic was good. Very reliable and always responds on time. The actual location is a little isolated from downtown san mateo but a very quiet neighborhood despite the fact it is next to the highway. Good overall.
Hacker Home Hopping, Part II!
After Dogpatch, where I had such a good experience meeting people and staying there, I decided to spend a week at the San Mateo HackerHome. And it did not disappoint.
The people there are super nice and welcoming, and even though I got there at midnight (having missed the Caltrain from SF), I wound up in conversations with the people there — people I had only just met, yet already I felt comfortable and part of the community. I ended up hanging out till 1am that first night, and knew I'd enjoy my stay there.
The house itself is very nice. It's got an open floor plan, so it's easy to talk with people while you (or they) are making a meal. The rooms are clean and large and quiet and comfortable. The neighborhood itself is safe. It's not really in the suburbs, but it is a bit away from the Caltrain station. Still, there are two buses that can get you there in about 15 minutes, so that was never a problem for me.
And Vic, as always, was the best host I've ever encountered on Airbnb. He checked up on me to make sure I was settled in well and had everything I needed, which I really appreciated.
I've been recommending the HackerHomes to my friends. Thanks to Vic and his HackerHome network, and the community of awesome people staying in these fabulous homes, my experience has been awesome.
Next stop, the Sunnyvale HackerHome! :)
So much more than a place to stay - HackerHome is fast becoming a community of friends regardless of how long or short their paths cross. Really love this place and will be back soon!
