This home is exactly as described. I enjoyed my stay there. I had access to everything I needed. Plus, it was nice to be able to interact with the other guests. This listing is located in a nice neighborhood. And, getting there from the Millbrae train station was very easy. It took about 10 minutes on foot.
Very convenient location with many restaurants and groceries stores nearby. BART and Caltrain just a short walk away. SFO a short drive away. Host was very responsive and gave clear instructions on checking in and staying. The place was clean and well-maintained.
Just stayed for a night, but it was great. Vic is very nice and uncomplicated. Housemates were very friendly. Enjoyed my stay!
Great area. Although I never saw or met Vic, he was a very friendly communicator. For the price, can't be beat.
BUT...the room was an absolute mess. The girls who were already in there had every inch of floor, dresser, desk, and closet space covered with their things. One (friendly) roommate apologized....but even after 10pm had the light on and was typing on her computer. Then the other roommate came home very late, and had complete disregard for us 2 who were trying to sleep...lights on, stomping around, opening and closing the door, crazy inconsiderate. Then all night both of their phones were dinging receiving messages. Then that 3rd roommate woke up to an alarm super early and repeated all she had done at 2am! I was so shocked and upset as I had a job interview the next day. I'm not a light sleeper and it was just a miserable night.
The bathroom was covered in hair, filthy.
The kitchen was full of dirty dishes and trash was overflowing.
I realize the price is so low that really I have no buisness in complaining....
Perfect location and everything is exactly as promised. Would definitely stay there again.
Vic is a good host. He runs about 11 different homes in the bay area though, so I can't confirm whether or not you'll see him. I did get to meet with Vic and he's an upbeat person.
As far as the home goes, I stayed in a room that had six beds (three bunk beds). It felt a bit cramped in the room because people had a lot of stuff. There was another room that had four beds and felt much more amicable but it was booked up by a group of people who never actually came to the place. There's a third room with a queen sized bed and a bunk bed. That's the girl's room.
When I showed up, it felt kind of messy and dirty. Thanks to me and some others at the place, we cleaned it up and organized the kitchen stuff. It's likely something you'll have to do too. Sometimes Vic comes by and cleans stuff or pays someone to do it. I'm not sure about the schedule. Your bed will always be clean though, so that's nice.
Outside of that, I'd consider staying here again for the $30/night I paid. If it was a full house (3 in girl's room, 6 in first room, 4 in second room) then maybe not. It would feel too crowded and busy for me. I was fortunate that on my two stays at this place that there was less than 9 people each time even though it was booked for more (Again, some people who booked the 4 bedroom room didn't ever show up).
Vic was quick to respond to my last minute request, accommodating, and provided a clean, comfortable room. Just know that it is a dorm style room with bunkbeds, but I ended up having the room to myself. Keyless entry meant I didn't have to alter my schedule. About a 5 minute lyft drive to the airport (might take longer, my driver was a maniac) and a 10 min walk to the BART/Caltrain station to all points north and south. Very convenient for making my 6:00 am flight.
