This building was recently profiled in the New York Times :
Guests are welcome to use anything in the pantry and any additional linens. Nespresso machine and capsules for your use. There is also a working Victrola with plenty of records! We like to leave a little treat like locally made chocolate or wine. There are umbrellas to borrow and NYC/Brooklyn/NY State guide books to use.
Interaction with Guests
We are nearly always available and don't mind being contacted for help of suggestions while we are away. We also have the friendliest neighbors in Brooklyn who are more than willing to help.
South Williamsburg has been home to Basquiat and Bill Murray (on our floor!) among others. Because it isn't on the main drag in central Williamsburg, there is still plenty of color and character. The building is a neighborhood unto itself, filled to the brim with artists and creative types, an amazing community roof where BBQ's and gatherings are held as soon as it's warm enough!
East River Ferry is one block away and will take you to Manhattan in minutes or in Brooklyn from DUMBO to Long Island City Queens, stopping in N Willamsburg and Greenpoint along the way. JMZ train is a short 10 minutes walk away through a safe neighborhood and the L is 15 minutes through the center of Williamsburg. There is a Citibike station just outside the door and many bike paths.
This is a friendly building with lots of events going on especially on weekends. Please don't bring the party back with you as we are on a quiet floor. This is a non-smoking apartment. You may go to the public roof to smoke but please, no smoking on the deck.
I had a wonderful stay in this magical cabin loft. The hosts were warm, friendly and more than hospitable. The loft was conveniently located to great shopping, tasty restaurants and a convenient bus line to get to Downtown Brooklyn. Although too cold to hang out on the balcony, I was able to enjoy the view with a warm cup of coffee and cozy bed.
David and Melissa's place was perfect. Their lovely garden and deck with a view of Manhattan made our stay in New York. They met us on time and showed us around the apartment block and gave us tips for ferrys/trains/restaurants. We would stay again!
We spent 5 nights around New Years at David's place and we fell in love with the apartment immidetiately! The apartment was small but at the same time practical and perfect for three people. The view from the terrace was beautiful, not to mention the one from the rooftop. Locationwise it was good; it was close to the bars and secondhand stores in Williamsburg and the subway to Manhattan was closeby. David was very helpful and he gave us good tips what to do in the neighborhood. We warmly recommend the apartment!
Hosts were very accommodating and friendly check in process was a breeze, Melyssa was more than helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. The apartment/loft has a very eclectic and authentic New York feel about it. Fully equipped kitchen and the deck and rooftop offers one of the best views of NYC, and the convenience of the ferry being only 2 minute walk away offers quick access to either midtown, north williamsburg or DUMBO. We loved our time there and especially our visits from Gus!
The neighborhood is quiet and really close to the animated Williamsburg. The apartment is a 2mn walk to the ferry stop (you can get to lower Manhattan or Midtown quickly) and has a wonderful view on Midtown from the deck. David was very welcoming and indicated some really fine restaurants in the area. Highly recommended !
I have spend a really great time in David's apartment! He was make a really nice welcoming and give us a lot of suggestion about activities and restaurant! David's house its like a museum, very artistic and funky! Sure you gone loves to be there!
We are a family comprised of Photographer David, Retaurant Consultant and Blogger Melysa, and Professional Baby Violetta. We are avid readers and collectors of art and ephemera. You'll find lots of great eye candy and reading material in the loft. Melysa is a former chef so you'll find a kitchen well stocked with essentials and oddities. If cooking is your thing, go for it! Violetta doesn't have a lot of gear but she does have a crib. She will not be in it for the duration of your stay. Sorry but you'll have to bring your own baby. We spend most of our time, eating, reading, resting, and gardening on our beautiful deck. If it rains, we park it inside in front of the windows in our indoor hammock swing or at the kitchen bar which feels like a pub. Many people have called our place "the grown up treehouse". We are pleased anyone calls us grown up. We all really enjoy taking walks in the neighborhood and taking the East River Ferry to DUMBO park. Williamsburg suits us all.
