About this listing
Lovely, beach cottage with room for four. The cottage has everything you need to enjoy a wonderful coastal vacation on one of the nicest stretches of beach around. It has an updated, beachy decor with a fully stocked kitchen and table for four. It has a queen bedroom, a large bathroom, and a full-sized futon in the living area. It has a new flat-screen TV, and comfy living room seating. The propane fireplace is currently not working. There is a fire pit outside, and plenty of alternate heat inside. There is also a nice DVD collection, radio with IPOD dock, and lots of games, books, and even a basket full of children's toys. Enjoy the absence of wifi or cell phone reception, both which can be accessed down on the beach, or in town.
The cottage is located in a small community called Tierra Del Mar, which is located just 3 miles north of Pacific City. Tierra Del Mar is a very quiet spot, and does not have cell phone reception or cable. It is less than a half a block to a gorgeous sandy beach where you can have a bonfire, collect shells, and take your dog for a long walk. The house has a lovely deck with seating and a charcoal BBQ, so bring some charcoal and enjoy! From the beach, you will see Cape Kiwanda to your left and Cape Lookout to your right.
Just a few miles south is Pacific City which is home of the Dory Fishing Boats, the Pelican Pub & Brewery, and some of the best surf along the Oregon Coast. There are several great restaurants, a public swimming pool, art galleries and shops, horseback riding, and the beautiful Nestucca River that runs right through town. It's a little piece of paradise!
Please no smoking, no dogs on the furniture, and keep the thermostat down when you are out.
Front of the cottage. There is a lovely deck to the left with built in seating and charcoal BBQ, and trees to your right
We took our two pups with us on our trip to Oregon.
This little cottage is the first place we stayed.
It is close to the beach, which is just at the end of the dead end road it is on. It was clean and quiet. There were nice personal touches like board games, DVDs and books. There is no wifi or cell reception.
The bed was not so comfortable. We could feel all the springs. The place smelled quite musty throughout our stay. Most of the decor and fixtures are retro. The shower "door" doesn't stay closed which can make for a chilly bathing experience.
Overall, we enjoyed our time here. If you are looking for a peaceful time away, this place has it.
I'm glad that you had a nice stay. The bed did get a bit softer these past few months and needs to be replaced. I am planning on bringing a new one out there later this month. I am sorry you could feel the springs! As far as the musty smell, having a rental house on the beach lends itself to must. The sea air along with the fact that the house is not open and aired out on a daily basis, can cause it to get a bit stuffy. As long as you open the windows and doors upon your arrival to air things out, there shouldn't be any smell. I am sorry you experienced this. Being dog-friendly is also a challenge with keeping the house smelling fresh. In response to the shower door, it is the original door from when the house was built in the 70's. It has magnet closures on either side, and if it is finessed, it will close completely. The bathroom also has it's own wall heater that can be turned up during your bathing experience to combat any chilliness.
I'm sorry that you had some issues arise during your stay. We try and keep the house comfortable and clean. I will check with the other recent visitors about the musty smell, and see if there is anything more proactive I could do about that.
Thanks for your feedback and I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
Cute, clean, and cosy, we had an amazing peaceful and restful time at the Dolphin Cottage. Just 3 miles from Pacific City where we hang out at The beach and at Kiwanda RV park and swiming pool with our relatives.
My Granddaughters really enjoyed the children's movies and the extra large futon. They felt as if they were in a ferry tale. The most observant one said "look At the dolphins on the entrance wall and the pretty chairs on back porch". They also spend some time looking at nature. They saw the blueberries looking bush and I used opportunity to teach them that those berries in the bushes were not edible. They also admired the big plate filled with rocks, shells and feathers. My 5 year old Grandaughter picked up a shell and said I can hear the ocean. They had an amazing and playful time.
This is a lovely little cottage just a hop, skip and a jump from the beautiful beach. The beach access is easy and lovely. During the week we were there, there were maybe a dozen other people on the beach at the same time. We pretty much had it all to ourselves. Also, the cottage is only 3 miles or so from Pacific City so if you need to run to the store or you want to go out to eat, that is also very close.
The cottage had everything that we needed and was very clean and comfortable. It's larger than the pictures make it look. It's also very quiet. We loved being able to have our dog. She's an important part of our family and we were grateful to be able to have her.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends. Thank you, Ashley for a great vacation! Michele, Tim, Saoirse and Lilly
We had a great time at Ashley's little cottage. Perfect size for our family of 4 and so close to the ocean. The description was accurate. We prefer function over luxury, and we were pleasantly surprised at how functional it was for the size. Ashley was available and helpful when we needed her.
description of cottage was great- secluded and private little getaway; cozy is the perfect word. Accommodations were welcoming and above par. Overall, we had a very relaxing weekend.
We had a great time at the cottage. It's very close to the beach and the perfect place for a weekend getaway. No cell or internet signal and is very cozy and warm. We never met Ashley but her instructions were dead on and we didn't have any hassles. Also very close drive to pacific city. I highly recommend
