Interaction with Guests
We frequently see our guests and enjoy exchanging pleasantries.
The Marigny is one of the most loved neighborhoods in New Orleans and our property is just steps from Frenchman Street, the French Quarter, French Market, and the Bywater. Within a few blocks, you will find plenty of great food, music, and art galleries. We provide a guide in the kitchen with our personal recommendations for exploring the local hot spots and activities.
Other Things to Note
We are laid-back and amenable to a variety of personalities and people. However, please note the following:
Respect is a requirement. If you cannot be respectful of our space, of us or of yourself, please find another place to stay.
Alcohol is a part of the New Orleans experience. However, if you plan on drinking until you are sick, please find another place to stay.
We have a strict cancellation policy. Inclement weather, airline cancellations, illness and other circumstances occur when we least expect them. Please consider investing in travel insurance.
Lastly, all guests are responsible for all covered losses during the reservation. All guests are obligated to pay for damages or losses caused by such responsible guest.
All guests must read and understand the following prior to or upon arrival:
• Rule #1 - Close the main gate behind you.
• No visitors are allowed on the property at any time. This is our home. It is not an event space.
• The front entrance gate is relatively narrow. To protect it from repeated damage, we ask that if you rent bikes, please do not attempt to bring them through the gate onto the property. Please lock bikes outside the gate.
The Creole Cottage
• When entering the cottage during your stay, please use the rear door near the pool. Please do not use the front entrance on Royal Street.
• Although our neighborhood is very cute and appears safe, crime is an unfortunate reality. The front shutters should not be left open for prolonged periods of time, never should they be left open if you are not in the cottage, and must be locked at night.
• The fireplace is for aesthetics only. Please use the central heat if needed.
• No smoking is allowed inside the cottage.
• Use of the pool is permitted between the hours of 8am and 10pm.
• Use of the hot tub is not permitted.
• Out of respect for neighbors and others on the property, no loud noise is allowed in the courtyard/pool area between 10pm and 8am.
• Be mindful of glass around the pool and please tidy up.
• Absolutely no diving or running around the pool.
We ask that you treat our house as your own and please tidy up during and after your stay.
When entering and leaving the property, always be sure to close the gate behind you.
This list of guidelines for the property and the Cottage is intended to make your visit as safe and enjoyable as possible. Please understand that this is our home. These guidelines help maintain our personal safety, the safety of our guests, the neighborhood and the property itself. By respecting these rules, you preserve the ability to stay in homes like this in the future.
The cottage was cozy and lovely. We found that it was an excellent respite to the outside NOLA world, which is exactly what we were looking for in a booking. The accommodations were just as advertised, instructions were easy to follow and the neighborhood is a gem. We loved being removed from the touristy French Quarter, but still within walking distance. The surrounding neighborhood is full of character. We would recommend this property for anyone looking for a secure, clean and convenient place to stay while soaking in a true New Orleans experience.
There were 4 of us heading to New Orleans and we wanted something a bit out of all the craziness near Bourbon street but safe, clean, comfortable and with a ton of stuff to check out.
We couldn't have been happier about finding the Creole Cottage. Such a great neighbourhood, easily walkable to the French Quarter and most of the time we stayed in Marigny anyways since there was so much there to check out.
This year for Christmas, I gave my mom a trip to New Orleans for a long weekend. Staying in the Creole Cottage was absolutely perfect. It was immaculately clean, on a very quiet street, and a short walk to Frenchmen Street and the FQ. The neighborhood felt safe, even at night.
The layout of the cottage afforded us each plenty of privacy. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom (although it should be noted that the upstairs bathroom only has a hand shower, so I did not use it).
One thing to note for future guests: the cottage is behind a key code locked gate, so we never had any question about its safety. However, we couldn't figure out how to lock the shutter doors to the cottage itself. We weren't that worried about it, though.
Brooke left detailed instructions and guides for us, but we didn't get a chance to meet her.
We were extremely happy during our 4 night stay here -- the apartment turned out to be just as it was described -- clean, charming, and very well-located. Brooke and Mark were hospitable but unobtrusive -- just the mix we were hoping for. Strongly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay in this little cottage. Brooke, Mark & Scrapper were great hosts and provided kind, thoughtful & timely responses to all of our requests. The neighborhood felt safe & offered cafes, coffee & people watching. A quick walk and you are in the French Quarter. The house was clean & comfortable. The only note to mention is that the kitchen is a little bit understocked if you are looking to cook a big meal (and there is no microwave) but overall the amenities were plenty for a group of 4. We would definitely stay here again!
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the feedback. We're always looking to improve our cottage so our guests may have a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We plan to get a microwave this week and look forward to hosting you again in the future. Thank you, Hillary!
Absolutely pleasant, comfortable, and enjoyable. The use of the pool, the peaceful atmosphere was very welcome after our long days in New Olreans. The location is great, with lots of good food, and neighborhoods in walking distance. We will definitely stay there again if and when we are back in NO.
Brooke and Mark were great hosts. They were gracious and had great advice on places to go. The property was as described and we had a very nice experience that you would not get in a hotel. Great neigborhood made it all the better. Look forward to returning.

My fiance, Mark, our small dog Scrapper, and I love to travel! Mark is a New Orleans native and I'm from Southern New Jersey. We met while living in San Francisco at Bay to Breakers.
We're an easy-going bunch and love to meet new people and hangout with our friends. You can usually find us riding bikes to find some delicious food, lively music or just relaxing at the dog park or by the pool. We love to sail and we try to get on the water anywhere and anytime we can.
