I've travelled the world and Catherine's guest house is a remarkable combination of being completely out in nature and close to town. As a tranquil base for day hikes it was ideal for us. It is 10 to 20 minutes by car from the start of several awesome hikes West of Tucson (Yetman trail, Sweetwater trail, Gates pass trail...). A day trip to Madera canyon gives you an option of several hikes in that area that are in a completely different environment (and, lots of spectacular hummingbirds). Relaxing at the guest house was a perfect companion to the hikes. Highly recommended.

Catherine's place went beyond our expectations. The setting is beautiful with layers upon layers of hillsides covered with sauguro cacti and a charming patio for morning tea. It is very quiet and peaceful. Thanks bed is comfortable with a memory foam topper over the futon mattress. It has a full size frig, microwave and two burner gas range ~ all the dishes and utensils you would need as well as a great smoothie blender. The only negative is the water pressure ~ it is very low so anyone with long hair will have a hard time getting their hair rinsed out. The place is a very good value, the hosts very responsive and unique in many ways. We will return ~ we stayed for 9 nights.

Response from Catherine:
So happy to host you and Paul again, Susanne. I am always happy to see you again and Blair and I really enjoyed our time with you on Saturday morning before you left. I have the Japanese Soaking Tub as you can see and plan to have it ready in the next few months. You will really enjoy it especially under the stars. Glad you found your stay relaxing and we'd love to see you again next year. In the meantime, take good care and be well. Warmest, Catherine

Very unusual and pleasant rental. Actually just over the mountain from the Desert Museum. Can't get more of a remote desert experience than this. Yes, we saw wildlife. Inside, it is very nice, very clean and very large. Very little internet and no tv but for us, this was a plus. Owners are nearby but never intrusive.

Response from Catherine:
Totally our pleasure hosting you and Kerry, Bill. Glad you love the desert and enjoyed the wildlife. We like our guests to have their privacy because we realize our guests come to be on their own. It was fun meeting you both and we welcome you back gladly. Take good care, Catherine

From the moment the GPS says turn on Chaos Canyon, you can feel magic in the air. This is a gem of a retreat. The comfortable bed (and sheets), towels, toiletries and book selection, make you not want to leave. We had a massage (1 1/2 hours each) by amazing Patty who comes to the guesthouse. The sounds of birds, soft chimes and air moving around the well appointed patio and meditation areas, make the lack of TV not missed one bit. Catherine is delightful and we enjoyed walking our dogs together in the early morning. This is a spiritual place yet somewhat remote so if you are looking to be in the center of action, stay somewhere else. We loved it!

Catherine is a jewelry designer and metalsmith, using silver and semi-precious stones and co-creating pieces of jewelry with clients that mark significant moments and people in their lives. Blair practices law and is an award-winning fine art photographer.

We love traveling and meeting lively, fascinating people, in addition to experiencing the oceans, islands, great cities, art galleries, wine country, museums, architecture, jazz, and indigenous cultures around the world. Great food, especially Northern Italian, and fine wines are high on our list. We love quiet and privacy where we stay and if it is possible we like to bring our Australian shepherds, Socrates, a 4 year old male, and Lena, 1 year old. Uncluttered, clean, modern, light-filled facilities in a natural setting are our favorites with great views, books, music, and culture near by are our favorite. We love nature, hiking, scuba diving, exploring the wilderness, discovering culture, experiencing beauty, and celebrating life.

It is a joy for us to meet people who love life, art, music, nature, lifelong learning, engaging conversation, preserving the environment, human rights, and traveling also.

We have a beautiful 700 sq.ft. private guesthouse with fireplace, kitchenette, free WIFI, with great biking, hiking, and golf near by. We live in a box canyon in the lush Sonoran Desert with all kinds of wildlife.

Our life motto is taken from the Navajo, "Walk in beauty." We invite you to be our guest.
