A private bedroom in an easy-in, easy-out apartment on the first floor on a great block on the Upper West Side.
We are a very laid back couple with an 15 months old boy. We love hosting and we appreciate privacy and space. We have an extra bedroom (3 total), right by the front door and our apartment is right by the building's front door... we are very hospitable, community oriented with the outmost respect for privacy.
Of course there is a kitchen which you may use. 1 bathroom. Our space is very "ZEN" if we may say so.... as parents we like to keep a calm atmosphere as our child is also pretty calm. We do have midnight diaper changes going on with the occasional cries but overall it's pretty chill around here.
We got fast internet wifi, filtered water and everything in the house is earth friendly...
Walking distance to 3 parks: Central Park, Riverside Park and Morningside Park. Also, amazing Church grounds close by with gardens and peacocks walking around. Within 5-10 minutes of walking there are multiple ponds, lakes, waterfalls and woodsy trails... and you are still in the heart of Manhattan! Yes.
This is a great family neighborhood. Lots of restaurants, multiple subway lines and all that good stuff.
What makes our place unique? Well, our energy, our family and our deep respect for home. Your room is right by the front door and our apartment is right by the building's frontdoor so you can just come in and out... (if you are a very light sleeper, this may not be a good option as you do hear the building's doors closing).
We are a very easy-going parents with a fantastic baby boy - so our love and feelings makes our place very unique... your luck is most likely to improve just by staying with us... can we say that? well that's the kind of people we are!
We had a very good time in New York, also thanks to our stay at Oriya and Karri's home. Just like many guests before us already said: they are extremely friendly and easy going people. The room is quite nice, the bed very good. At first, we had to get used to going through their living room for bathroom and toilet, but as they were comfortable with it, we were too. We felt very welcome.
Subway stations are close, and Upper West Side is a great area to stay anyway; Broadway between 80th and 100th Street is very good as far as grocery shops and affordable restaurants.
I enjoyed my brief stay with Oriya's family. They are fun to talk with, and their apartment is super convenient. They are casual and cheerful, interesting conversations. The baby was a plus, very dear. My room was comfortable and I slept well. It's a sweet family experience, homey, and with privacy as desired.
Very nice place and friendly people. It is first experience with (website hidden) - and we enjoyed it very much.
Oriya was very accommodating, and the bedroom was neat. The place is very close to the subway and located in a safe neighborhood. I would stay here again!
A lovely room in a lovely neighbourhood with a lovely family. My boyfriend and I had a great stay. Highlights being meeting their son Hanu who was such a nice kid, the bed which was incredibly comfortable, biggest slice of pizza I've ever eaten just a couple blocks north on Broadway, and a snowy adventure in north Central Park.
Overall Carri and Oriya are just as easy-going, zen, and positive as they say. The room is comfortable, the neighbourhood is good, the apartment is homey and the price is great. What more could you as for in an Airbnb experience.
We had a great time in New York and a great time staying at the lovely home of Oriya and her family. The neighborhood is quiet and the bed is comfortable. So it was a nice place to recover from all the sight seeing and walking around the city. We would highly recommend it.
@Oriya: Thanks again!
Oriya has an awesome little place and a very cool family including a curious 17 month old boy.
This was my second visit to NY and I stayed in SoHo last time so this was my first experience on the upper west side. There are cool jazz bars around and plenty to see and do in the immediate vicinity of the apartment. Oriya is very helpful and even accommodated me after my flight was late and arrived at 1am.
It is pretty easy to get the subway into Times Square or virtually anywhere else even if you don't know the system. I bought a metro card and felt like an expert by the time I left.
The only issue was more my own fault. It was my first Airbnb stay while travelling on business and so I was on the phone a great deal as well as coming in quite late at night so I felt like I was too noisy for this quiet little home. I hope it wasn't too much disrupt for an otherwise peaceful and quiet little pad.
Thanks guys (grow well Hanu!)
Excellent hosts. We very much enjoyed staying at Oriya's place. We'd definitely return.
I had a great time at Oriya's place. They are very nice, zen people. They are very quick at responding and very accommodating.
The room was very comfortable and quiet. There were really good vibes in the place.
The neighborhood is very pleasant, close to the subway, supermarkets and very nice places to eat.
I would definitely stay here again!
Thank you ! =)
We liked the room, very practical, next to the subway and to Central Park. It was very nice, even if our stay was fast. Thank you!
