I own a business in Costa Rica and Guillermo's place is located near to my office. This was a big plus in staying there. Because of my business, I regularly travel to San Jose and have stayed at various places. So in the Curridabat/Pinares Momentum area this is the best accommodation which I have stayed at. The hosts were excellent. It was very comfortable. Most impressive it was tastefully furnished and even stocked with basic food staples. I will definitely stay there again when I go to Curridabat.
First of all, Guillermo was an incredible communicator. When searching for a place for my 19 year old son (he did his spring semester at the university) and father for three months, which isn't an easy task from thousands of miles away, Guillermo made it very simple and quick. When my son and father arrived late in the evening, their hosts Carlos and Marcia, showed them all around the tico house and even had a pizza waiting for them after such a long trip. They were helpful every step of the way for three months and very attentive, leaving no detail unnoticed for their comfort. The tico house was clean, comfortable and in a guarded, gated community, just the type of safe area I wanted for my son to be in for the first time away from home. The home was furnished with everything they needed and while my son was at school, his grandfather had time to soak up the sun and often took trips to a nearby Walmart or bakery in the area. They did say the Uber's were cheaper than a taxi and a bus ride was only a dollar or two depending on where you went. My father ended up renting a car during the few months they stayed, simply because it was easier to get around that way. That said, he stated that driving in the city was pretty crazy and nothing like being in the US, especially the lack of road signs to know where you're going. When a friend of his flew down to see him, I sent a GPS with her and had purchased a SIM card for the GPS for Costa Rica (Amazon) which they said was immensely helpful. My son felt safe walking around with his college friends to restaurants or clubs and said that the people in Costa Rica were some of "the nicest people on the planet". Everyone was laid back, friendly and helpful everywhere they went. I can't give Guillermo (and family) enough stars for this review. All I can say is that their stay was absolutely perfect in every way, they hosts were fantastic and he hopes to go back someday and say hello and he will be sure to stay with them again! Thank you all so much for making my son and father's stay amazing!!
Great little 2 bed tico house. Great wifi Gate community with regular patrols Walmart is within walking distance if you are athletic, and taxis are available. Also if needed Food delivery to the house is available from almost every food place incvluding USA brands such as Popeyes chicken and Pizza Hut. House has a small heat plate and micro wave. Also has a small washing machine and spin dryer which means hanging your clothes to dry. Make sure to wear something warm as the nights can get cold. Be sure to bring what ever clothes you need especially if you are a large size of XL or shoe size is large. Large sizes are hard to find and all clothes and shoes are EXPENSIVE. Note to New travelers to Costa Rica .. a tico house generally means no hot water or only in the shower which this house only has hot water in the shower. Also no flushing paper down the toilet. A knowledge of Spanish is recommended for this area as it is not generally a tourist area and English is not common. I did locate a few taxis who spoke little English. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. House is located several miles from downtown San Jose - bus $1, taxi $10 to $20. Owners are super nice and friendly. Home is clean and comfortable.
Abrazos, Patricia, Sylvia y Tito
