This colonial hacienda offers privacy, gardens, enormous fruit trees (pick your own lemons daily), one of the best views in town, easy access to centro, and a uniquely Mexican style of graciousness, this is your vacation home.

I may be there when you arrive to deliver keys and orient you, but fully respect the autonomy of guests- it's your house! Marta (who lives in neighborhood) is available for any troubleshooting, and I am usually at my ranchito 15 minutes away.
This is NOT a gated community! High above town but only 8 blocks from Parroquia, it's just past the Hotel Mirador del Frayle on a dead end street. A real Mexican neighborhood with mix of elegant and humble houses, I've lived here 30 years and raised my children here. Very safe and colorful, a unique opportunity to feel part of a real neighborhood.
Buses go up Salida de Queretaro to make for a flat walk return from centro; taxis are cheap (30 pesos currently) and easy to catch, and can be called to house as well for small extra charge
The enormous ceilings and stone floors, wood beams, multiple terraces, incredible views, lawn (!), and privacy of compound makes this a memorable home- not a cookie-cutter slapped up rental with kitschy Mexican tourist decor!
Sara was a fabulous host. Considerate, responsible and generous, she did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. Arriving at the house after a long travel day, we found that Sara had stocked the kitchen with breakfast supplies generous enough for several meals, as well as a bottle of wine. Her recommendations for things to do and places to eat off the beaten track were spot on.
The hacienda itself is spacious and comfortable, set in a lovely garden. There is ample private outdoor space - balconies and a large porch - for eating and relaxing, watching the variety of butterflies and birds that populate the garden. The house is on a hill above the city, wonderful to come home to after a busy day. It is a bit over a mile from a large shopping center and the Tuesday outdoor market which is not to be missed. If desired, taxis are easily available and inexpensive to and from the city center and to other sites.
My husband and I had a wonderful month in SMA. We enjoyed the perfect weather, the city with its many charms, the house, and getting to know charming Sara and partner Bill, We hope to see them again, in SMA or elsewhere.
The reservation was canceled 33 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We spent a fabulous two weeks at Sara's Hacienda in SMA. It is incredibly spacious both inside and out. The views from the 2nd and 3rd floors and the roof are amazing. I think the best compliment that could be paid however is that it felt like home from the moment we arrived until we left. Sara's thoughtfulness contributed to this feeling.
Being located on a hill directly up from Centro means that it is very quiet, provides great views and contributes to strong leg muscles but does mean that you need to take inexpensive taxis on the way back home.
Thank you Sara!
The place was stunning, perfect in every way, we couldn't have asked for more. We had been worried we should have gotten something closer but taxi's to and from the square were always available and cost about $2.30 when we didn't feel like enjoying the phenomenal view down to the jardin and the parroquia. If you stay here, definitely ask Marta, the gentle and sweet housekeeper, to stay and cook for a night, her cooking is not to be missed! Sara is lovely and we were just blown away by the place and would stay there again in a heartbeat if we're ever so fortunate to have the opportunity.
