Guests highlight the charm and thoughtful decor, with many calling it comfortable and cozy
Our shabby chic 1940’s cottage sits just above the Dan River and just across from the Sauratown Mountains/Hanging Rock. Our secluded mountaintop location is only minutes away from Hanging Rock State Park, downtown Danbury, and a variety of local tubing/kayaking options. Spend the day on river or at the park and return to this private setting in time for sunset, porch suppers, and evenings by the fire.

The space
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:
OUR PROPERTY IS REMOTE. OUR HOUSE IS OLD. IF YOU HAVE A WILDLIFE FEAR OR INSECT ALLERGY, OUR PROPERTY MAY NOT BE FOR YOU.

Our three bedroom/two bathroom cottage sits at the top of the hill opposite Hanging Rock giving us long range views of the Virginia mountain line (Fall/Winter/Spring.) Although an easy drive up on paved road, our property is mostly secluded with very little traffic.

Amenities:
•Front porch dining and sitting area.
•Living area w/ electric fireplace, games, books, Roku TV, and WIFI.
•Eat-in kitchen w/ induction/convection range, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker along with fully stocked dishes and starter supplies.
•Additional outdoor seating on back porch.
•Stacked washer/dryer located downstairs.
•Master bedroom (king) located downstairs adjacent to walk-through closet and full bathroom with Clawfoot tub.
•Full bedroom and dual twin bedroom located upstairs.
•Second full bath located upstairs with walk-in shower.

Guest access
Guests have full use of the home and property. There is plenty of lawn to spread out, play games, picnic, and use the fire pit. Older barns and buildings are set away from the house and should not be entered at this time.

Other things to note
This property was reclaimed after decades of vacancy and being engulfed by Mother Nature. We have slowly brought the home out of the forest and back to life. We plan to add more amenities and upgrades as we go. However, our work isn’t yet done on the property. There are many outbuildings that remain in disrepair and await our TLC. You are welcome to walk the grounds between the road and power lines that hug our property but at your own risk. Children should be monitored and we ask that no one enter or climb on the old barns or buildings at this time. (There is plenty of lawn to play on and spread out close to the house and away from these areas.) Wildlife and bugs are all around on 10 acres of woodlands. With this home being older, it is not uncommon to spot insects around or inside. We provide sprays as well as a handheld vacuum to use as needed but if you have a fear or allergy, our (country) location may not be a good fit for your stay.
