AIRP residents are very welcome! We have had several groups stay with us while attending the class at AFI Theatre. They appreciate the close proximity to class and the quiet comfort we offer for studying, preparing meals and relaxing. We appreciate the US and international acquaintances we've made as their hosts.
Interaction with Guests
We take our interaction cues from our guests. Some are more private than others and we respond accordingly. We are not early birds so our guests can have the kitchen to themselves in the morning and the self-serve breakfast items we offer. The kitchen can be made available as needed for evening meals. I enjoy baking and sharing the results with our guests.
Our Spring-Park home is in an urban and eclectic neighborhood at the nexus DC, Silver Spring and Takoma Park. Two Redline Metro stations are one-mile away--Takoma & Silver Spring. Our community is family oriented and quiet but with all the urban resources you need to easily shop, dine-out, see a movie and more, all within walking distance. We are also walking distance to a tranquil, woodsy park with a lovely hike/bike/jog trail along a creek.
We are a mile from 2 Metro stations and one-half block from a bus stop. While you can get by easily without a car we also offer free parking so you can enjoy transit or driving. Also the neighborhood is very bike/walkable. You will find this a convenient location from which to see the sites, work or study.
Other Things to Note
We have 2 cats, so if you are allergic, this is not the place for you. If you are traveling with a pet, your request will be thoughtfully considered and if accepted, please add an additional guest to your booking.
Since these rooms are in our home we require a complete Airbnb profile with official ID submitted and identifiable photo posted. Especially if travelers do not have any prior Airbnb reviews.

Gail and Danny made me feel welcome, were very accomodating with regard to everything I needed, and kept the house/room in perfect order.
Gail and Danny were very accommodating hosts, friendly and conscientious. They have a lovely home and I felt very fortunate to stay there. I would recommend this listing, or any of their other listings, to anyone looking to stay in the area. No complaints whatsoever.
Gail & Danny were great hosts and very helpful throughout the duration of my stay here for 6 weeks for a medical school rotation. They are friendly, warm people that will give you privacy if you need it but are always happy to have a conversation about almost anything. The music room is on the ground floor of the house and close to the bathroom in the adjacent hallway. The two cats were quite shy and I almost didn't see them for several days during my stay. They kept the house very clean and were kind enough to even clean the bathroom often and replenished fresh towels as often as I wanted. They also gave me a street parking permit which allowed me to leave my car on the street during the restricted hours. The neighborhood is quiet and very close to downtown Silver Spring. I would happily stay here again and give Gail & Danny the highest recommendation.
I stayed with Gail and Danny for a month while attending the AIRP course. They have a beautiful home in a great location for AIRP (about 15-20 minute walk). Also a Silver Spring parking permit was supplied by Gail and Danny so I could park closer to the AFI on days I didn't want to walk. They were excellent hosts that made me feel very welcome in their house...especially for SU basketball. I felt right at home as if part of their family. It was a pleasure living there, chatting with them and cheering on SU. The internet was extremely fast, good study space, plenty of room in fridge for food, Gail offered food/desserts she made on several occasions, and Danny was always offering to make more coffee! The laundry facilities were great as well. I attended Bikram yoga classes in Takoma park about a mile from the house. Overall, a very easy place to stay for a month and would highly recommend for anyone doing AIRP or just traveling through. I will definitely miss Gail and Danny!
Our stay with Gail and Danny was our first AirBnB experience - and because of them, it will definitely not be our last. It was an absolute pleasure to stay with them, and by the time we parted ways, they felt like old friends.
We stayed in their "Music Room" for about a week. It's a lovely space, and Gail and Danny will give you just as much privacy as you need while also being available pretty much right away whenever you might need anything. We found everything to be exactly as described, and were thrilled too with the proximity to Downtown Silver Spring, where we had business to attend to each day.
You'd be truly hard-pressed to find a more convenient location, or a cleaner / nicer / more comfortable room, or better hosts. Definitely five stars - and the next time we have business in Silver Spring, Gail and Danny will be hearing from us!
I stayed with Gail and Danny in summer 2013 for an internship in Silver Spring. They were great hosts --- the perfect balance between helpful and unintrusive. The accommodation is clean and the house is lovely, quiet, and walking distance from downtown Silver Spring. I would definitely stay with Gail and Danny again.

We have several listings that include private guest rooms in our home as well as a fully furnished guest home next door. Our location is at the nexxus of DC/Silver Spring/Takoma Park and walking distance to the Silver Spring and Takoma metro stations and the downtown Silver Spring commercial district. This includes the AFI Theatre where the AIRP class is held. Many of our guests are radiologists who are here to attend that class. Of course, we accept other travelers as well and have had guests from all over the world.

We have lived in the DC Metro area for 30 years and enjoy all it has to offer. We raised our adult children in this home. Two of the rooms we offer still display their youthful touches. We are avid travelers ourselves and have been Airbnb guests, so we feel we know what makes a good host--accommodation and flexibility without intrusion. Feel free to ask us for recommendations or anything to make your stay more comfortable.
