About This Listing
Available while we are away for work. Very big stylish residential loft in commercial/industrial building in the heart of the plateau! About 40% of the building's spaces are residential lofts, the rest are studios for artists and musicians. Our loft is located in the Plateau, the area in Montreal with the most interesting clubs, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Also walking distance to Downtown, the Old Port, McGill University, Parc Mont Royal, Rue St. Denis, Rue Prince Arthur and much more. Located on the corner of Pine and St. Laurent, a busy intersection with a lot of restaurants and clubs, also a 24/h grocery store across the street. A lot of public transit nearby.
The Loft has two closed bedrooms and a huge living area (dining room, living room combined, kitchen in its own area but still part of main room) and full bathroom. The whole loft is 1500 square feet. Very bright, one whole wall is windows. We have an artificial wood burning stove that looks real and is a very strong heater.
Please note that if you do not pay extra for the second bedroom, it will be locked.
Things provided include:
Coded entry system (no key needed)
Queen size bed with bedding and sheets
High speed Internet (wifi)
Things that have changed:
We no longer have the pinball machines
We have a different couch that replaced the sectional
$97/night for one bedroom (2 people), $30/night per person for the second room.
This is a great place to stay in an amazing and fun area of Montreal!
By the way, the photo of me is not taken at my place, it's my sister's house in the country.
We require a $300 safety deposit that Airbnb deals with in the event we decide to keep it. That rarely happens and has only in the past due to guests having parties. Our biggest house rule, NO PARTIES!!! Our place is great for them and it's tempting but they are not allowed. We also ask for an additional $50 cleaning fee that goes to the cleaner we hire after you leave (we pay her $75).
Please water our5 plants if you're there for more than a week. Thanks!
Emily's place was fantastic - hands down the coolest place I've stayed in with a very funky style which doesn't feel artificial or forced like many other b&bs I've stayed at. It's also incredibly spacious and stayed pretty cool during the relatively warm days. The location can't be beat as its right off St Laurent between the popular Montreal clubs in one direction and all the cool bars/shops in the other. It can get a little noisy at night but I didn't find it to be much of a problem as I was out late most nights anyways.
Emily provided very clear instructions and was available for contact if needed and also left many helpful guides to the city. I would certainly stay here again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Thanks Emily!
My coworker and I traveled to Montreal for 5 days for work. Instead of staying in a hotel we looked for an AirBNB walking distance from our office and we fell in love with the loft. While the interior is crazy beautiful and unique and I'd love to have my own home reflect the shabby chic industrial loft vibes- I wouldn't recommend this home for anyone staying for work purposes. I wish I paid closer attention to other reviews- the walls are VERY thin and you can hear everything from inside your rooms. I had a air filter that helped cancel out some noise- but my coworker who slept nearest to the door was awoken much more often by general business in the hallways. Both of us were kept up by bands playing in the basement as well as being woken up by frisky loud neighbors. I don't think we had a night where either of us slept entirely through- which is not ideal for a work schedule.
Outside of the noise the place is beautiful and huge. Shower and bathroom were just fine. My bed was incredibly comfortable. The wifi was reliable and helped us work from home in the evenings if we needed to. The location is awesome- walkable to coffee, shopping, dinner, etc. Was also crazy easy to catch a cab outside of the apartment.
Emily was very easy to get a hold of and responded quickly when we had a question about the shower (note: the hot/cold is switched just in the shower). She left detailed instructions otherwise and left everything in her home useable to guests.
If you're going to have a raucous weekend in Montreal- this place is for you. If not- make sure to bring ear plugs and don't be surprised if you're woken in the night!
For our first time in Montreal, the location was perfect. We were a 20- to 25-minute walk from most of the city's major tourist destinations and St. Laurent is home to a number of great bars, restaurants and shops. The loft is also conveniently next to an upscale liquor store and across the street from a market.
A testament to the City and the area, we had no trouble asking around for recommendations. Moreover, locals seemed to want to host and ensure a great experience. I would highly recommend staying here to small groups of friends looking for a weekend away!
The loft itself is uniquely decorated, as depicted, which mirrored the funky, young vibe of the neighborhood. We're from New York City, and were reminded of Brooklyn. The bedrooms are not huge, but certainly adequate for two in each room, and the main space is perfect for a dinner in or cocktails before a night out.
Emily was a great hostess. She answered all of our pre-arrival questions, and let us have the space to ourselves once we arrived. She also provided a number of Montreal travels books, which would have been very helpful if we spoke French!
Overall, we had a wonderful time in the loft and in Montreal! Highly recommend!
A lovely place, I enjoyed it a lot. The loft is very big and pleasant, and beautifully designed. Everything we needed in terms of food, groceries, cabs, and what not was in short walking distance from the building, including many places that are open 24/7 or late at night. Communication with Emily was quick, reliable, and helpful. Had a very good visit overall. Hope to make it back there soon.
Emily place is quite unique. Very warm and inviting when you get through the door.. Once I arrived I kinda thought of it as the reincarnation of Andy Warhol's silver loft. The build is mixed between commercial and residential and rehearsals spaces. The noise levels was not to bad. Thursday was kinda noise but still reasonable noise levels. The neighbour was friendly when I walked out of the loft. He Introducing himself.
I've been to Montreal several times but never really spent much time in the Plateau-Mont Royal area. Wish I had discover the area sooner. Lots to do and see in see in the area. If your into graffiti art its a great area to take in all the works of arts on the sides of buildings. There are plenty of restaurants in the area.. The loft is close enough to the downtown area just a short uber or transit ride away.
The next time I return to Montreal I would definitely try and stay at Emily place again if it's available..
About the Host, Emily
I'm 33 and live with my husband. We will be going away a lot for work (art installations) and would like to rent our cool downtown plateau loft while we are not here.
