JFK Airport: 60 minutes to 2 hours
LGA Airport: 35 minutes to 1.5 hours

Room is great for 3 people, but feel free to pack as many as you see fit! I've had guests bring yoga mats/sleeping pads/air mattresses in the past to add more sleeping surfaces. It is your room, use it as you like.
Answer to the two most common inquiry questions I get--
**Is the room is available? Yes, If you are able to select the days on my calendar, then those days are available.
**What is the price? On the calendar you will see the price of each day (which changes throughout the busy season and on the weekends). After you select your days, airbnb adds all those days up, and adds their fee. That total is what you pay to airbnb.
This is 1 out of 3 bedrooms in the apartment. If you are alone, a couple, or group of friends, this room can accommodate you guys easily! If you are a group of 3-6 people, you are welcome to make space as you see fit. The main bed is big enough to take 2 people easily. The other bed can fit 1 comfortably (squeeze another if you like).
When you arrive, you will have your own key to the apartment, to enter and leave whenever you want. Just make sure to lock the apartment door behind you whenever you come in or go out!
There is 1 bathroom shared amongst the 3 bedrooms. I, Lewis, will be around the house from time to time. If I am away at the time you rent the room, I will have a friend stay in the living room to let you into the apartment, give you keys, and show you around the house! We have a very large kitchen with all of the cooking supplies you would ever need, available for you to use. Please remember to clean up anything you use, after using it!
About the location: it is located at the corner of East 118th Street & 3rd Avenue in Manhattan, right by the 6 train station at 116th Street. The subway entrance is 2 blocks from the apartment.
The neighborhood is lively, well-lit, and very safe. There are supermarkets and deli's everywhere, many are 24-hours.
Central Park is at 110th Street and 5th Avenue, about a 10 minute walk away from the apartment! The Metropolitan and Guggenheim Museums are 4 subway stops away. Everything else downtown, you can use the subway 24 hours, and its right nearby!
A laundromat is right near the apartment as well.
Im currently in Medical School and in and out of the city frequently. If I am away I will have my housekeeper staying at the place to let you and and take care of anything you need. After booking I will put you in contact with her to coordinate the check-in /check-out times.

The location is very nice, close to subway (20'-30' to downtown) and to La Guardia. Although poor, the east part of Harlem is lovely and full of life, just avoid wandering alone in the night. The apt was quiet and none of the other guests gave us any problem. Poor organization with check in/out: Axl, the girl apparently in charge of welcoming the guests did not respond my email one day before arrival, nor my several phone calls the evening we landed in NY. As a result we went to the apartment with no confirmation that someone was really going to be there... we had to knock all the doors of the building (for general info it's the 4th floor), this happened because Axl's phone was in "sleep mode"... thank you.
The apt was generally dirty, especially floors, linen and bathroom (the latter had brown stains on the floor that were definitely not chocolate ice cream). Despite the descriptions mentions a kitchen, guests are not allowed to use it to cook.
Overall not worth the price.
Lewis was a great host, very kind and helpfull when talking to him. On the other hand, the housekeeper he left in charge wasn't that kind, we didn't have a common area because she sleeps in the living room, it is not permitted to use the kitchen not even to boil water and there was no microwave either. One night we were chatting with a couple of other house guests in the kitchen because she "cooked" before and our rooms were invaded with the smell and smoke (the smoke detector turned on because of that) so we went to the kitchen to talk, but she asked us to please go to our room to continue our conversation because it was late (11pm) and she and her boyfriend were watching a movie on her laptop and couldn't listen to it. My advice is to stay in Lewis's place when he is also there. It'll definitely be a better stay
Lewis responded to my inquiries in a timely manner, he wasn't in the apt but had arranged Axl to meet me. Axl is a sweetheart. Neighborhood, it seems a bit abrasive because it is the Spanish Harlem, but nobody bothered me, I didn't feel threatened.
But, I didn't know it was a 4 fl walk up, (actually more like 5 because of the building), so I was very sweaty & unhappy climbing with a large suitcase using my injured hand to help along. I will definitely ask that question next time I use airbnb.
Lewis was awesome at getting back to me - within minutes. Grateful for the last minute booking. I had some concern about the safety of the area but I shouldn't have. The streets were very well lit and populated even after coming home from the bar at 1 am. Axl (housekeeper) was lovely and so accommodating (our bus arrived an hour and a half after planned). Unavoidable cons of the place is that there is only 1 bathroom to 4 bedrooms, but we didn't have too much trouble there. Also, bring your own handsoap for the bathroom. Overall it was a perfect cheap place for tourists just wanting a place to sleep in NYC. Thank you Lewis (and Axl)!
