Answer to the two most common inquiry questions I get--
**Is the room is available? Yes, If you are able to select the days on my calendar, then those days are available.
**What is the price? On the calendar you will see the price of each day (which changes throughout the busy season and on the weekends). After you select your days, airbnb adds all those days up, and adds their fee. That total is what you pay to airbnb.

This is 1 out of 3 bedrooms in the apartment. If you are alone, a couple, or group of friends, this room can accommodate you guys easily! If you are a group of 3-4 people, you are welcome to make space as you see fit. The main bed is big enough to take 2 people easily. The other bed can fit 1 comfortably (squeeze another if you like).

When you arrive, you will have your own key to the apartment, to enter and leave whenever you want. Just make sure to lock the apartment door behind you whenever you come in or go out!

There is 1 bathroom shared amongst the 3 bedrooms. I, Lewis, will be around the house from time to time. If I am away at the time you rent the room, I will have a friend stay in the living room to let you into the apartment, give you keys, and show you around the house! We have a very large kitchen with all of the cooking supplies you would ever need, available for you to use. Please remember to clean up anything you use, after using it!

About the location: it is located at the corner of East 118th Street & 3rd Avenue in Manhattan, right by the 6 train station at 116th Street. The subway entrance is 2 blocks from the apartment.
The neighborhood is lively, well-lit, and very safe. There are supermarkets and deli's everywhere, many are 24-hours.
Central Park is at 110th Street and 5th Avenue, about a 10 minute walk away from the apartment! The Metropolitan and Guggenheim Museums are 4 subway stops away. Everything else downtown, you can use the subway 24 hours, and its right nearby!
A laundromat is right near the apartment as well.

Im currently in Medical School and in and out of the city frequently. If I am away I will have my housekeeper staying at the place to let you and and take care of anything you need. After booking I will put you in contact with her to coordinate the check-in /check-out times.

If you have any further questions, feel free to email me and ask! If you are able to view this listing, then YES it is already available for the dates you are interested, so feel free to make a booking, and hope to see you soon in NYC!

Note: Since the photos were taken, the cot in the room was broken by a guest, and it has been removed from the apartment. Also, we are in the process of getting new living room furniture, so there is no couch in the living room.

Check In
  • Great host and good experience at Lewis s house. The place is safe and for few days visiting NYC and small budget it s a good choice.

  • The room was as described in the description page.
location is good (just 2 blocks to a near subway station).
The apartment is located in east harlem - I felt safe, and didn't have any issues.

The apartment is on the 4th floor of a building with no elevator - consider that if you have big luggage.

    The room's cleanliness was OK.
It has an AC unit, but it's rather small so don't expect it to cool the room on a very hot day.

Lewis was extremely quick on response, and since he was out of town, his friend was there to check me in, and was also very responsive.

If you search for a cheap place to stay in NYC -
this room is a good choise.

  • La ubicación es perfecta para desplazarte rápidamente hacia zonas turísticas. El departamento es cómodo y cada cuarto tiene privacidad total. Buena experiencia ;)

  • In the Amenities it says "Air Conditioning" and the device can be seen on one of the photos. Unfortunately it is not present so it can get pretty warm at night when all the neighbours downstairs turn on their AC (and it gets a little noisy as well). The bathroom could be kept a bit cleaner. Otherwise it was OK, the room was reasonably clean, the bed is comfortable. The subway is less than ten minutes by foot, the connection to the city is great. The neighbourhood looks unfriendly but that was expected and I didn't have any trouble.

    Response from Lewis:

    Hi Al,
The room does have an A/C unit. Since it is just starting to get warm we havent put it in the window yet, but it was available upon request. If asked, my housekeeper was there to put the A/C in the room (its just a small window unit that takes a few seconds to install), just needed to let us know you wanted it. Sorry about that.

  • This was my first AirBnB experience and it was interesting. The host was on vacation so I met with another person who lived in the apt who explained the house rules (i.e. not to take a shower at night because other people are sleeping). The apartment room was pretty clean with the exception of under the bed which had a cup under it. It was humid and there was no AC. So if you're going in the summer be sure to be aware of this. I think the neighbors smoke cause when I got back in the room it reeked of cigarette smoke. The bathroom was a little gross with hair in the drain of the tub and some mildew on the tiles. The surrounding area (if you're not familiar with NY) is in East Harlem which isn't the nicest but it's not the sketchiest (unless you're talking to the UBER driver who told me this place is dangerous). My communication with Lewis was great though. He was quick to respond and had clear directions.

Overall, it was a place to stay for cheap in the city. Keep that in mind if you're expecting a SoHo loft for that price.

  • Great place to crash, fast communication with the host and located 2 blocks from a metro line

  • Stayed at Lewis for one night. Did not get to meet him in person but he was quick to respond and gave good instruction for checking in.

Picking up key was no hassle. Was able to arrange it with Lewis's house keeper in mins.

Street Parking was plenty and close by on Main Street but due to street cleaning, you have to move it before 8am.

Room was reasonable sized with a bunk bed. There is a small closet. Bathroom was reasonable clean and right next to the room.

Great place just to crash for the night then go.

  • Absolutely the dirtiest place I have been via AirBnB.
Location was as stated / room was as stated / couch was not there in common living area as stated, the only thing not mention on the site was the place would be filthy - I guess you get what you pay for.

I will say the the next day, someone did clean the restroom but the damage was due - I will not return

    Response from Lewis:

I would not host Randy again. He did not come at the scheduled arrival time, he came earlier, but didnt tell me. Another guest let him in the building. This would be fine, if he just let me know, but he didnt, and I had my housekeeper waiting at the agreed arrival time for 3 hours for him. I had texted his phone and emailed multiple times and Randy never let us know. A quick text would have been nice here.

I'm not sure what Randy is talking about regarding cleanliness, the place was cleaned and provided with clean sheets and towels prior to his arrival. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps another guest left a mess during his stay. Whenever this happens and guest let us know, we fix it. Randy never told me or my housekeeper there were any issues while he was there. The housekeeper was also staying at the apartment for the duration of Randy's stay since I was not there... so had he brought up any issues we could have fixed asap.

This site works best when people communicate well, and for this reason I would not recommend hosting Randy. Also, one needs to keep in mind that this is not a hotel with 24 concierge where you can show up at any time.. this is an apartment with real people with real lives.

  • Stayed here at Lewis's place for 4 days and it was pretty good overall. I was greeted upon arrival and set up in a room that had the basic essentials and everything needed for a temporary stay. The apartment was clean and tidy, including and especially the bathroom. I had no issues getting in and out of my place even though I did come in quite late the last two nights. Parking was not as bad as I thought it was going to be either; I was able to find a FREE spot fairly close to the apartment every night I was there and never needed to pay for the high-priced overnight garages. I would most certainly stay there again in the future. Thanks a lot Lewis

  • I booked this room for my mother when she came to visit me in NYC. She enjoyed her stay. The room is simple, clean, and it's very close to the 6 train, which made it easy for her to get around the city. Ryan was nice, super responsive, and even he even brought by some cookies from the local bakery! He had a housekeeper around that helped take out the trash and keep the living room clean. Can't beat the price, I'd recommend this place for thrifty travelers!
