A lovely comfortable spacious 2BR home in a quiet neighborhood. Artistic and pretty, this home has classic detailing, good natural light, a fireplace and a back yard with grass and flowers. It is close to BART and Muni, freeways, and has a driveway.
This is a charming bohemian artsy home with lots of nice touches. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, and a double bed in the second, comfortably sleeping 4. There are hardwood parquet floors, arched ceilings with crown moldings, french doors, original tile in the working fireplace, and a brightly colored bathroom. The outdoor garden is an oasis with grass and flowering trees, hummingbirds, bluejays, and a firepit for those foggy San Francisco nights. There is a weber gas grill and an outdoor seating area for bbqs and al fresco meals.
Guests will have access to the whole house to themselves. You must walk through garage (which I'm not gonna lie, has a lot of my stuff in it) to get to the outside space.
Interaction with Guests
I am available to meet with you and give you the keys and any tips you may need about San Francisco, but then prefer to have you enjoy the space and the city on your own. I am usually a 15 minute car ride away, and reachable by phone for any guest needs or problems.
The Mission Terrace Neighborhood is awesome! It's a little further out, but super accessible to the MUNI J-Church line to take you into Noe Valley, the hip Mission District or downtown. The quaint village of Glen Park andThe Glen Park BART is a 10 minute walk. The Freeways are super close. And even though you are close to the urban action, there is a feel of being closer to nature with all kinds of flowers and birds everywhere. The neighborhood has a safe family vibe and most folks have pride in their homes and keep up the pretty landscaping. Newly redone Balboa Park for dog walking, a fun playground for the little ones, skate park, tennis courts, and an indoor pool is close by.
JChurch MUNI 5 minutes walk
GLEN PARK BART 10 minutes walk
Mission Muni bus 14 and 49 5 minutes walk
highways 280 and 101 are 5 minutes driving
The house has a driveway for your use if you have a car.
Other Things to Note
There are two adorable, mellow love cats that live here (mostly downstairs) so must be a pet lover and non-allerigic :-) I care for them by the separate side entrance, so will not disturb the guests. This house is from the 1920's...and is more on the funky, charming side than the sleek modern totally updated kind of place. This home gets tons of natural light during the day, so it's well lit naturally. But, I don't rely on bright overhead lighting, and have mostly lamps and mood lighting in my home for nighttime. So, if you require a very bright well-lit atmosphere...this might not work for you.
No smoking inside the house. No loud parties. Respect my space and my neighborhood. Be cool. :-)
Made to feel very welcome. As advertised, and bigger than expected, easy to get to stations and very quick to get into downtown on the BART. Very easy to arrange arrival and departure, and little touches like bagels and fruit were very welcome! Overall would definitely use again!
Christine has a lovely home located in a quiet neighborhood just outside downtown San Francisco. It has all the amenities we needed. I especially liked the big windows which allowed natural light to come in. She also provided bagels for breakfast! Although we didnt get to meet her personally, she gave clear instructions for a smooth check in and out. And the welcome note was a nice touch!
I struggled with writing this review. On one hand, the home was so lovely and so many nice touches that I saw that a lot of care had been put into it. It felt cozy and comfortable, and you could tell that a very nice person lived there.
On the other hand, my search on Airbnb for this stay was done using the search terms "parking" and "garage." These were the central most important criteria for me since we didn't want to worry about parking during our trip. The ad showed a residential home with a driveway and a car in it. However, the driveway was rented out to City Car Share, and we were awakened on a Sunday morning and instructed to move our car from the driveway.
I could write this off as a misunderstanding, had I not messaged the host specifically asking if the driveway was available. Subsequent messages were responded to, but that question was left unadressed. The listing simply said "plenty of street parking available" without specifically stating that the driveway would not be available for use.
When I informed the host that I was upset about this, she asked me what she could do about it, leaving me in the uncomfortable position of having to request a partial refund or something, which would not really have solved the problem.
Really, the only thing that could "right" this experience is to see the host's good intentions, and proof that this was not an intentional omission, by seeing her listing specifically state that the driveway is occupied.
James, I am so truly sorry for the inconvenience! I have on my page that there is a car in the driveway. I did not mean to mislead in anyway, and even put in the instructions that the car lives there, and the only option for those with a car is street parking. Parking in San Francisco is a challenge, and my neighborhood is one of the easiest, with no time limits, only street cleaning on Mondays and Wednesdays for two hours. I understand how awful that must have been to be woken up while you were on vacation, but I wasn't trying to hide anything or be misleading to you about the circumstances. I will gladly offer you another stay at a discounted rate to make up for the hassle. I hope you were able to enjoy this beautiful city and my home in spite of the mishap. Cheers to you, and thank you for being such a respectful guest. :-)
Christine was a great host, very warm and welcoming. We kept in touch via email both before and during our stay. We were a party of three adults and one baby, and her place is huge! I thought it was much bigger than the photos showed. It's got an old-world charm, and is full of quirky personality!
Christine is also extremely conscientious - her description of the house mentions she owns cats, but she made sure to specifically mention that fact again when we were discussing the booking, just to make sure we had no allergies. I really appreciated that, as it's good to know what to expect, i.e. a little unavoidable cat hair on a cushion or two. But nothing to detract from the cleanliness of the house, or our enjoyment of it.
The only thing we'd mention is the shower - the hot water knob is stiff, and the water pressure is uneven.
Christine's home is very conveniently located about a 5-minute walk away from the MUNI J-line, and a 20-minute walk from the Glen Park BART station. It's a quiet residential neighborhood, with nice sandwich shops close by.
We had a great stay, and loved Christine's home!
Christine's places was perfect and the exact stay that we needed. I was able to travel and stay in SF with my two dogs which was beyond amazing and convenient. There was plenty of street parking in the neighborhood and it was just on the edge of the city which felt spacious, safe and accessible. The house was clean, comfortable and just as described online. I would gladly recommend to anyone staying in the SF area :)
Christine was a fantastic host, really welcoming and sorted out all of our requests and needs over the stay. Great place to stay and a really good base for exploring SF!
Christine's house was nice to stay. Not far from BART station and Downtown.
A typical residential area!
