The Space

The Studio at Capeview has been created in a converted garage by a boat builder!
The Studio has natural light from french windows a Swedish style shower room ensuite and its own front door.
It has a small but ergonomically effective foot print.
It is ideal for one but has a double bed and wardrobe space for two.
For those who like to cook there is a fully equipped mini kitchen with 2 burner hob, fridge, microwave oven toaster kettle and various pots and pans...enough to make a few snacks and a cooked breakfast!!
There is no washing machine but I am more than willing to wash and dry laundry for a very small consideration!!
Any other requests or needs please just ask.

Guest Access

Access to wifi, own front door.
Access to courtyard garden.
Short stay visitor permits allow for 24 hour parking. ( restricted )

Interaction with Guests

This accommodation is completely independent but should any guest request help or any information at all a quick text e-mail or knock on my door and I will be more than happy to help.
If anyone needs to leave luggage or get a taxi to the Airport I am willing to help.
There are also 2 permanent residents who work at The Mayflower Theatre living upstairs in the Mews house and if I am away please knock on the door if you need to.

The Neighborhood

The property is in the centre of Southampton, off the bottom of The Avenue.
It is 4 stops on the bus up to Southampton University and about the same number of stops to The Solent University.

All shops and amenities are within walking distance and the area has immediate access to Southamptons many café bars and restaurants.
For the Young and the young at heart there is a vibrant night life within a 5 minute walk to Bedford Place and beyond.10 -14 mins to The Mayflower Theatre.

Everywhere is walkable from The Studio so no expensive car hire!.
The Station is a 15 min walk for trains to London Winchester, Southampton Airport and all destinations to Exeter and the South West.

Despite bring in the town centre Southcliff Road is in a peaceful area. There are late night bars and restaurants within a few hundred yards so sometimes there are noisey revellers making their way home but fortunately not every night!!

Getting around

Plenty of public transport Buses trains etc.
The No 1 bus goes up to The University 3 stops and you are there.Taxis are also reasonable and reliable.
Going the other way the bus will take you all the way down to The Bargate and the docks and Yown Quay for the fast ferry to Cowes.

Other Things to Note

The Studio forms the bottom part of a Mews house. The Mews house accommodates 2 permanent residents as well as a very large ground floor bedroom which accommodates guests also on this site.( under Stunning City Centre double room)
It is linked by adjoining courtyard and internal stairwell.

    Lovely to meet you.

  • Great location, very clean, well-equipped (don't forget your toiletries though, as there is not even hand soap in the bathroom), and rather quiet (you'll faintly hear the tv and people talking upstairs). Communication with Julia was super easy, and if you like to be left alone, this is your place. She showed me around, told me where to leave the key when I left, and that was that.
The "natural light" though is minimal: there is a French window, but as there is a metal garage door right in front of it, there will only be enough light to tell whether it is night or day outside!

    Response from Julia:

    Thank you for your comments.
I will be happy to provide some soap!
Yes diffuse light from french windows limited.
But there are security issues with bigger portholes in the garage doors.. so limited it will remain!!!
Sorry not to have interacted more.. I should have been more considerate and come and found you so we could have sat in the garden chatting over a cuppa.. sometimes work just takes over!!
Bless you for staying with us anyway.

  • I had a great time at Julia's studio. Stayed there for two weeks during a visit of the University of Southampton. The studio has al the furniture you need and I was surprised how comfortable such a small place can be! The location is great, close to the city centre and other interesting places. Just around the corner you can find The Rockstone, a great place to eat and have a beer.

  • Julia is a great host - always available to help and if any problem arises she makes the proper arrangements quite fast. Her studio had everything I needed for my month-long stay in Southampton. The small kitchen and the fridge were quite useful for preparing meals. The place is cozy and designed to make you comfortable. It is located at the heart of the city - walking distance to everywhere (including bus-train stations). The neighborhood is silent and peaceful. I would strongly recommend Juila's studio to anyone and I will surely contact her in my next visit to Southampton.

  • Truly amazing place to stay. Perfect I'm everyway. Jules is a dream I a host. Nothing is to much. Everything in the studio is high spec and has everything in it that you need. If staying for a long or short stay, this is the ideal place. City centre on your door step. 15 mins to city centre. 20 mins to docks. Shops near by for anything you need. Very high standard in studio. Having your own little space is a dream. Jules as a host is amazing. Nothing is to much and she will help in anyway she can. Highly recommend on all levels. If your are staying in Southampton, stay here. 5* all round x

  • Thanks for your kind availability Julia. Julia has always been reachable (even from abroad). She was very detailed in all the information and instructions about the studio. She is the perfect host: right balance between being always available and respectful of privacy.
The studio is nice, clean and functional. Lovely area of Southampton.
Yes unfortunately because of the storm we decided not to risk travelling during night. We had a great time there!

  • Julia's place is conveniently located, clean and comfortable. Even though she was away, she made sure that I could find her place and had access to the room. Good experience overall and I will book again.

  • Cozy quarters in an interesting historical port city. Lots to see and do even in the rainy weather. This studio was snug, warm, and convenient to public transportation. I was impressed with the care and detail which went into furnishing the space to get the maximum utility out of a small footprint. Staying here gave me some ideas for home remodeling! Thanks to Julia (and Airbnb) for a unique stay experience in Southampton.
