Interaction with Guests
We spend a lot of time with our guests both at breakfast and in the evening.
It is so close to everything. Our place is so quiet and serene and that is what people love about us. They like to go downtown during the day but they love to come back here where it is peaceful and quiet and spend the evening in the screened in room in the back with a glass of wine. There is also a lot of history here. In walking distance from the house you will found and area where the only beach for African Americans used to be. In addition it had a Motel and a Nightclub where all the big names like Duke Ellington, James Brown, Luis Amstrong and other big names used to play.
Bus 40 or 41 will take you downtown + there is also a waterfront taxi. Buses are 5 minutes walk from the house the water taxi 15 minutes walk.
Other Things to Note
It is very easy to get to all the local attractions from our place. All the Plantations, the Angel Oak, Yorktown, Fort Sumter and 2 of the best beaches are easier to get to from here than from downtown.
No smoking. Not suitable for small children.
Not a party place. No shoes indoors but we do provide slippers.
Wenche's immaculate and spacious Mt. Pleasant home was only outdone by her hospitality and kindness.
She fed us great breakfasts on her gorgeous screened-in porch and sat with us as we enjoyed the meals. We greatly enjoyed our conversations with her. As a European, she's very wordly. Still, as a longtime Charleston resident, she's got that southern charm too.
We can't wait to come back to Charleston and stay with Wenche again soon.
What a wonderful break from the impersonal stays found at most hotels! The room was warm and inviting and it was a treat not to have a TV staring across at us in the evening! Wenche and Wyatt were gracious hosts and full of useful information about the area. Wenche even mapped out our trip to Savannah and showed us where to park, what trolley service to use, and some of the highlights of that historic city. We were served a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, and yogurt. And the coffee was terrific! If you need a break from all of the hustle and bustle normally associated with a tourism locale, then this is the place to stay! Thanks Wenche & Wyatt for sharing your home with us! Wenche is a lovely hostess. Her home is very welcoming, and she made me feel at home. Wonderful breakfasts! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to others.
Wenche and Wyatt were amazing hosts!!! When we arrived they greeted us like old friends and made us feel welcomed. After they saw us settled in our room they inquired about our plans for the evening/ weekend and offered us recommendations on nearby restaurants and attractions. Breakfast was oh so delightful and delicious each morning. Wenche and Wyatt always made time to sit with us and their other guests to get to know us, and us them.
The location was perfect! Not in the middle of everything but not so far away that you felt as though you were missing out on the action. Everything and everyplace was either a short car ride or a walk away. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. The house sat tucked back from the main street which made you feel like you were truly on a vacation or the break we all so desperately need from our hectic lives every once and a while. The room was just as it was in the photographs. The room, linens, bathroom and main shared areas were clean and tidy. Wenche had reading material out in regards to the area so we could do some "research" and plan out our day.
We only stayed for 2 days due to work commitments, but we will definitely make a return trip for a longer duration and when we do we will most certainly be staying with Wenche and Wyatt.
Wenche and Wyatt, thank you so much for authentic and genuine hospitality! So many people who run B&B's/hotel/Inns/etc...miss out on the people aspect of running that type of business!!! Both of you truly made us feel welcomed, and as guests in your home, not at your business.
Wenche was a wonderful hostess. We had one day to see Charlotte and she laid out an itinerary for us that was fantastic. We had a great time. The room and the bed are very comfortable.
The host made us feel welcomed by spending time with us, sharing stories and her and her husband being warm and very friendly. Wenche would offer helpful information when asked for suggestions. The neighbourhood was very pretty. There are a lot of beautiful trees and greenery all through the streets. The neighbours we seen, were very friendly, waving when we drove in.

About the Host, Wenche
I was born in Bergen Norway but i have been moving around since i was 17. I have lived in Denmark,Sweden,Italy,Finland,Spain and now in America. I love to travel and to meet people and see other cultures. I am an expert in cakebaking and i can make the most beautiful and incredible tasting cakes. I am also a great cook. My first mother in law was italian and i learned how to do everything from pasta to meat to fish. I love to read especially in the winter. When you stay with us you will have plenty of books to read should you want to stay in and read. For over 20 years i worked as a tourleader for italien groups in Scandinavia so i have many stories to tell. I speak Norwegian, swedis, danish, italien, english + some spanish, french and german. My husband and i have been married for 16 years now and we met in Miami. I love flowers and you will have no doubt about that once you come to stay with us. I love the 50th and 60th music but also classical and italien music. We have a liberary with a tv but we don't watch much tv. We spend most of the year outside and in the winter we sit in front of the fireplace and read or talk. I love a glas of wine with good friends too.
