Interaction with Guests
We spend a lot of time with our guests both at breakfast and in the evening.
It is so close to everything. Our place is so quiet and serene and that is what people love about us. They like to go downtown during the day but they love to come back here where it is peaceful and quiet and spend the evening in the screened in room in the back with a glass of wine. There is also a lot of history here. In walking distance from the house you will found and area where the only beach for African Americans used to be. In addition it had a Motel and a Nightclub where all the big names like Duke Ellington, James Brown, Luis Amstrong and other big names used to play.
Bus 40 or 41 will take you downtown + there is also a waterfront taxi. Buses are 5 minutes walk from the house the water taxi 15 minutes walk.
Other Things to Note
It is very easy to get to all the local attractions from our place. All the Plantations, the Angel Oak, Yorktown, Fort Sumter and 2 of the best beaches are easier to get to from here than from downtown.
No smoking. Not suitable for small children.
Not a party place. No shoes indoors but we do provide slippers.
Staying at Wyatt and Wenche's home was a true pleasure. We came to Charleston for our anniversary, and they did so much to make it special for us. We really appreciated their recommendations on restaurants and things to do. Our room was lovely, with a vase of fresh flowers and a note wishing us a happy anniversary. Wenche is an excellent cook, and breakfast each morning was delicious! We hope to return to Charleston soon and stay with Wyatt and Wenche again!
Our bed was very comfortable and our hosts were lovely. We enjoyed breakfast with other guests on the enormous screened porch and sitting outside in several different seating areas. Very clean and comfortable
From the communication during and after initial booking, to our stay with Wenche's and Wyatt our hosts, it was a flawless experience.
Their home was full of character, charming and comfortable. The location perfect for visiting downtown Charleston as well as the coastal region with too many site's mention.
Wenche's was more than accommodating with information about the area, including their favorite restaurants.
All in all, we would go back in a heartbeat.
My wife and I had a great time over the 4th of July staying at Wenche's place. Her is convenently located just across the bridge from Charleston, just a short drive to downtown. The room was great and much better than staying at a hotel. We had our own private bathroom. She also pointed out some great resturants to eat at. She has great knowledge of the area which helped my wife and I, since it was our first visit to Charleston. We would highly recommend staying there if you are going to be in the area. I'm sure we will be back.
Wenche's immaculate and spacious Mt. Pleasant home was only outdone by her hospitality and kindness.
She fed us great breakfasts on her gorgeous screened-in porch and sat with us as we enjoyed the meals. We greatly enjoyed our conversations with her. As a European, she's very wordly. Still, as a longtime Charleston resident, she's got that southern charm too.
We can't wait to come back to Charleston and stay with Wenche again soon.
What a wonderful break from the impersonal stays found at most hotels! The room was warm and inviting and it was a treat not to have a TV staring across at us in the evening! Wenche and Wyatt were gracious hosts and full of useful information about the area. Wenche even mapped out our trip to Savannah and showed us where to park, what trolley service to use, and some of the highlights of that historic city. We were served a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, and yogurt. And the coffee was terrific! If you need a break from all of the hustle and bustle normally associated with a tourism locale, then this is the place to stay! Thanks Wenche & Wyatt for sharing your home with us! About the Host, Wenche
I was born in Bergen Norway but i have been moving around since i was 17. I have lived in Denmark,Sweden,Italy,Finland,Spain and now in America. I love to travel and to meet people and see other cultures. I am an expert in cakebaking and i can make the most beautiful and incredible tasting cakes. I am also a great cook. My first mother in law was italian and i learned how to do everything from pasta to meat to fish. I love to read especially in the winter. When you stay with us you will have plenty of books to read should you want to stay in and read. For over 20 years i worked as a tourleader for italien groups in Scandinavia so i have many stories to tell. I speak Norwegian, swedis, danish, italien, english + some spanish, french and german. My husband and i have been married for 16 years now and we met in Miami. I love flowers and you will have no doubt about that once you come to stay with us. I love the 50th and 60th music but also classical and italien music. We have a liberary with a tv but we don't watch much tv. We spend most of the year outside and in the winter we sit in front of the fireplace and read or talk. I love a glas of wine with good friends too.
