Interaction with Guests
We spend a lot of time with our guests both at breakfast and in the evening.
It is so close to everything. Our place is so quiet and serene and that is what people love about us. They like to go downtown during the day but they love to come back here where it is peaceful and quiet and spend the evening in the screened in room in the back with a glass of wine. There is also a lot of history here. In walking distance from the house you will found and area where the only beach for African Americans used to be. In addition it had a Motel and a Nightclub where all the big names like Duke Ellington, James Brown, Luis Amstrong and other big names used to play.
Bus 40 or 41 will take you downtown + there is also a waterfront taxi. Buses are 5 minutes walk from the house the water taxi 15 minutes walk.
Other Things to Note
It is very easy to get to all the local attractions from our place. All the Plantations, the Angel Oak, Yorktown, Fort Sumter and 2 of the best beaches are easier to get to from here than from downtown.
No smoking. Not suitable for small children.
Not a party place. No shoes indoors but we do provide slippers.
Wenche was very welcoming and the house is large, clean, and very well decorated. Our room was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The neighborhood, while not in downtown Charleston, is quiet and close to everything. Our daily breakfast was wonderful.
My host picked me up from the airport ($35) and brought me to the downtown area of Charleston, where my conference was. She spent an extra 45 minutes or so taking me around the city to help me become familiar with the area, and gave me landmarks and major roads, all of which proved very helpful for the rest of my stay.
When I arrived at Wenche's home she offered me wine or tea, and brought a glass up to my room. When I entered my room the heater was on so I didn't have to wait for the room to warm up.
Breakfasts were fine and served on time or even early, depending on my schedule, so that I could make it to my conference on time. Wenche provided rides to and from the conference center ($10 each way) which saved me time scouting out other forms of transportation.
We stayed Mr and Mrs. Fox's house for 3 nights on new year's day. It was awesome! Room was large, very clean, and much prettier than pictures! We enjoyed nice breakfast and conversation with Mrs. Fox every morning. She helped us plan our day in Charleston and her recommendation for restaurant was great! She even helped us plan our day in Savannah.
I strongly recommend this place to anyone who visit Charleston!
My friend and I enjoyed two nights in the red room at Wenche's B&B. The room was very quiet and peaceful, and we slept very well while there. I really appreciated Wenche's suggestions of places to visit during our short time in Charleston, and her partner Wyatt gave us a wonderful history of how they came to build, furnish, and decorate this house. I would definitely stay here again if I ever happen to find myself in the area.
Our hostess, Wenche Fox, was just incredible. She and her family were so welcoming. She made us feel right at home and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be visiting the Fox Family again.
Thank you for a very enjoyable visit.

The Fox Residence rekommenderas helhjärtat!
My boyfriend Alex and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Charleston. It was great - the room and bathroom were clean and comfortable (there were robes too). Breakfast was good and filling and our host was exceptionally helpful - she had sent restaurant tips in advance and gave us some other useful tips for what to see in our limited time. The day we left, we were headed down to Savannah and she supplied us with a map and some tips for that city as well. Overall a great experience and I would stay there again if we head back to Charleston!

I was born in Bergen Norway but i have been moving around since i was 17. I have lived in Denmark,Sweden,Italy,Finland,Spain and now in America. I love to travel and to meet people and see other cultures. I am an expert in cakebaking and i can make the most beautiful and incredible tasting cakes. I am also a great cook. My first mother in law was italian and i learned how to do everything from pasta to meat to fish. I love to read especially in the winter. When you stay with us you will have plenty of books to read should you want to stay in and read. For over 20 years i worked as a tourleader for italien groups in Scandinavia so i have many stories to tell. I speak Norwegian, swedis, danish, italien, english + some spanish, french and german. My husband and i have been married for 16 years now and we met in Miami. I love flowers and you will have no doubt about that once you come to stay with us. I love the 50th and 60th music but also classical and italien music. We have a liberary with a tv but we don't watch much tv. We spend most of the year outside and in the winter we sit in front of the fireplace and read or talk. I love a glas of wine with good friends too.
