We had a lovely time with Wenche and Wyatt. The food was fantastic and they were wonderful hosts. We look forward to seeing them again the next time we are in the Charleston area. The location was also ideal, as it was very close to many restaurants and attractions, but not in the midst of the hustle and bustle of downtown.
Wenche and Wyatt keep an immaculate, very warmly decorated home, nested among dense trees where friendly animals frolic throughout the day. I felt welcomed staying there. The location is conveniently situated about 3 miles from downtown, away from the busyness and noise. From the house, one can easily access other nearby destinations like the Boone Hall Plantation and the Isle of Palms Beach. And one can drive to other destinations bypassing the downtown traffic. Both are excellent hosts, mindful of my needs and such a pleasure to speak with. They take the time to converse with their guests at the beginning and the end of the day. And that has now made me a fan of Norway, which I would someday like to visit. Wenche was quite helpful at recommending daily itinerary activities, especially since the weather was not quite cooperating when I visited. And though she did not have to, Wenche prepared hot breakfasts for me that were well-presented and absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend their home as future lodging to my friends.
Our time with Wenche and Wyatt was wonderful. Their house is superb; loved the fabulous décor. The location and availability of access is perfect for anywhere you want to be and do. It is a very special place to relax, get away and meet new friends. Our evening and morning conversations were greatly enjoyed. The generous breakfast was elegant and tasty. It was our first time in Charleston, but Wenche was able to help provide us with a full day of plans.
We had a wonderful stay with Wenche and Wyatt. They were a pleasure to spend time with. In addition to being a great wealth of information about the area and places to visit, it was like being with family. They are a very friendly and interesting couple and we enjoyed our many conversations with them. The breakfasts were superb and they were very accommodating. Their house was beautiful and we were sad to leave. We will definitely stay there again if we are lucky enough to be in the area.
We stayed 4 nights at Wenche & Wyatt's lovely home in Mount Pleasant and recommend it over Charleston's overpriced B&Bs. It's easy to find and less than a 10-minute drive over the beautiful Ravenel Bridge to downtown Charleston where there's plenty of inexpensive parking ($9 per day at St Philip's open-air carpark to $20 at a covered carpark); 5 minutes to Patriot's Point to see the USS Yorktown etc; 5 mins to Isle of Palm (website hidden) Pleasant is a safe, green, walkable area. From their house it's a 10-min walk to the Ion community of restaurants, cafes and shops.
We were in the 'red' room, which was fine, and though the private bathroom is not attached it's just a few steps away. The shower pressure was great; lots of towels, bathrobes, toiletries, hair-dryer provided. There's also a sitting room upstairs with loads of reading material about Charleston & environs.
Wenche was fun to talk to and gave good advice. The restaurants she suggested (Pearlz, Husk, Blossom) were excellent. It was nice that she sat with us at breakfast, which she gets ready for whenever you want it. She & Wyatt are the kind of hosts--friendly, chatty, informative--that make staying in homes far preferable to hotels.
Wenche and Wyatt were gracious hosts, the home is lovely, delicious variety of coffee cake, muffins, fruit and cheese. Wenke made suggestions and gave directions and so nice to sit around table on lovely screened porch at night and visit with Fox's and other guests after we got back from sightseeing all day.. Wenche went out of her way to make sure we got night pictures of the beautiful Ravenel Bridge our last night. We enjoyed our 3 day stay immensely and just wish we had 3 more.
We arrived earlier than expected and were warmly greeted by Wenche her husband. The place was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is not far from Charleston at all, but removed from the hustle and bustle of the downtown. A great continental breakfast was provided to us, along with friendly conversation.
