Very peaceful and private, yet adjacent to our house, so you won't feel lonely or abandoned!
The Studio is beautifully decorated and spacious. This is a room with soul!
Guests have access to the garden and entire farm if you feel intrepid enough to walk down by the stream and up through the trees and fields.
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting people and hearing about their travels, but we are very respectful of privacy. We will welcome you and then leave you to make yourself at home. We are open to chats if the opportunity presents itself.
The studio is a self-contained bedsit in a beautiful rural Kilkenny location. If you're looking for a place to retreat to from the hustle and bustle of towns, then this is your place. Kilkenny is fairly close however, so if you need some more action you can always go there for entertainment and eateries. Kilkenny is 20 minutes drive away. If you are needing an evening meal, we recommend you either bring some provisions or go into Kilkenny. I will leave you some breakfast provisions.
There is no near-by public transport. You need a car!
Please don't feed the dog...she is prone to putting on weight and can't say No!
Feel free to walk wherever you like on the property, but make sure all gates are shut behind you.
Kate and James were absolutely fantastic hosts. They were very friendly and welcoming. We were also very warmly welcomed by the dog, cat, and goats. The room, separate from their house, is really lovely and atmospheric. They were also kind enough to leave us some fresh bread, eggs, fruit, juice and milk. They also left us maps and suggestions of places to eat in town. There is a TV with some DVDs available and some books to read, in case you want to relax. Their property is quite beautiful. Kate and James also allowed us to add an extra person with no advance warning. We insisted that the couch would be fine, but they brought out an extra mattress from the house anyway. You will need a car to get there, but if you have one, it is well worth it. I highly, highly recommend staying here if you have a chance.
Kate and James were very kind and friendly hosts! Their listing was located in absolutely fantastic area to take a rest. Also, the listing was so clean and well organised! We're hoping to stay there once again!
The Powell's were wonderful hosts! They went above and beyond helping us out. Their property is beautiful and perfect for a good, quiet night sleep. If ever back in the area will certainly see if their space is available.
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Kate's place was beautiful. A bucolic setting in the country, well appointed, with everything you could want. It is listed as a private room but you essentially have your own place. It is a cottage totally separate from the main house. However, Kate is around for any questions you might have and has great suggestions for things to do in the area. Everything is included to make your own breakfast including eggs from the hens on the property!
Can't recommend the place enough. It is a little tough to find as it is in the country so make sure you know your way back when you set out. The directions provided from Dublin we perfect.
We stayed 2 nights in the studio and it was great. The studio itself is very well organised and furnished. Everything was as advertised. The house is very remote and calm. Kate and James were very nice even is we had only a few chats with them as we were visiting the area most of the time.
We definitely recommend staying there if you want peace and quiet.
Unfornately, Kate had to go away during our stay and we were received by a friend of hers : Colleen. Colleen is so pleasant and warm, present and attentive. The lodging is perfect, the surroundings idylic with downhill a brook winding in a wild landscape and from the garden a chair facing sunset !
We were welcomed with fresh eggs, milk, blackcurrant jam, bread, and we ate the freshest asparagus of our lives ! Colleen gave us detailed maps and advice about what to see, do... in the area. Thanks.
I am a musician who teaches the fiddle to kids. I grow flowers and vegetables in abundance! I also love yoga and walking. I live with my husband James who is a conservation consultant for old buildings and he has renovated several houses beautifully, including our own. Our son, Teige is 10 and knows a lot about cars! He is also a great musician and swimmer.
