A comfortable room in a large ground floor apartment in Greenpoint. The room can accommodate 1 or 2 people sharing a full size bed. Near Williamsburg with easy access to both lower and midtown Manhattan via 2 subway lines. Ideal for NYC explorers!
Rent a spare room in my apartment located in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn. Shops, restaurants and parks down the street and it's walking distance to Williamsburg.
Convenient access to 3 subway lines (G train, 7 train and L train are all within walking distance) makes it very easy to get to Midtown or downtown Manhattan. For drivers apartment is close to Williamsburg Bridge, Ed Koch Bridge, Midtown Tunnel, 278 and 495, so it's very easy to get to just about anywhere in the 5 boros (and I have a parking space you can use if you let me know in advance).
The apartment is clean and spacious, with wireless internet, washer/dryer, a well kept kitchen (with a dishwasher), parking (with advance notice) and access to a nice backyard with a garden. There is air conditioning in the room. I love this apartment, I've been here for 7 years and it's nice quiet neighborhood without being too far off the beaten path. I also have a spare bicycle that you can use while you're here. Apartment is on the ground floor so it's very easy to get in and out.
Smoking is permitted but only outside. I'm a friendly, easygoing musician, I want you to have a good stay. If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out!
Guests have access to a shared kitchen and bathroom and backyard garden. Parking is available right in front of the house upon request.
I am always there to help if anything is needed and to show you around upon my arrival but will generally be respectful of your privacy while you stay. I will be staying in the front room unless otherwise noted but it is a large apartment and I doubt we will get in each other's way.
Greenpoint is full of all sorts of cool little restaurants and shops. Restaurants I recommend are Paulie Gee's (pizza), Vamos Al Tequila (Mexican), Cafecito Bogota (Colombian) and Champion Coffee (Coffee and Pastries). There are lots of little boutiques along Franklin St that are worth checking out too!
Both the G Train and 7 Train are within walking distance, giving you easy access to all points the city (as well as the B43 and B62 buses). There is a private parking spot right in front of the house that is usually available upon request.
Mattie is a great host, very easy to communicate with and flexible with arrival and departure times.
The room and entire apartment are really clean and the bed is crazy comfortable.
Location was perfect for my short stay, since I spent most of time in Brooklyn, but its super close to the G which can get you anywhere in the city.
Would recommend Mattie's place to anyone and would stay here again!
Mattie was a great host! Super friendly and he let us stay in a larger room than the one we had booked. He was helpful with giving directions for the subway trains. I'll definitely consider staying again next time I'm in the city
Mattie has a lovely place in Greenpoint. Area is of course really cool. In close proximity to lots of great stuff in Brooklyn. There is a really idyllic garden out back, which is really pleasant to sit in in the morning.
Mattie was an impeccable host. He was very flexible and easygoing when we were arranging a time for me to check in. Offered me the big room with its own separate living room when I arrived as there was no one in it, even though I'd booked the smaller room.
When I asked if there was a Citibike stand nearby, Mattie very kindly said I could use one of his. I also could freely use the laundry, which helped me a lot a couple of weeks into a holiday.
And to top it all, Mattie's just a friendly, cool guy.
Stay at his place!
Mattie was really pleasant and helpful. He gave us directions for the subway and to fun neighborhoods to check out. The room and Mattie's entire home were really clean. We had gotten a rental car and Mattie gave us his driveway to park in which was hugely convenient!!
Mattie was an excellent, communicative, and laid back host. His place is in a quiet spot in Greenpoint and very cosy. There is a comfortable bed in the room I letted, which helped after long days at work, and would do the same after long days of exploring NYC. Would stay there again and recommend you contact him about availability.
A private parking spot... in New York.... What?!?! Everyone thinks Manhattan is the place to be in New York, and sure, it's a great place to play. But while in Manhattan, you don't get to see Manhattan. Mattie lives a 2 minute walk from the East River ferry. Not only does it get you to Manhattan on a reasonable budget from Brooklyn, but you get to see Manhattan, the statue of liberty and you sail underneath the Brooklyn bridge. Brooklyn is a very lovely town that is worth seeing on its own and Mattie was very knowledgeable and helpful making sure we got the most out of our short New York stay. And then, the cherry on top, we had our own parking spot, amidst the tight chaotic street-parking of the city. We felt almost like royalty.
Staying with Mattie was a great experience. Very comfortable, private, convenient, and airy. I would strongly recommend the room to anyone, as long as they don't need lots of space at night.
There was a hot shower, fresh towels, a garden in the back, and Mattie is somewhat of a private person so it definitely felt like I was the only one there when I was there.
The bed was VERY VERY comfortable. If you need a comfortable bed, stay here! There is wifi though I never used it.
The only drawback was the size of the room in regards to floorspace. I had a very big suitcase and there wasn't really enough space around the bed to use it.
However, there was a great ceiling fan, a desk to use, and most importantly, the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable. I was very jet lagged from travelling to other places before I got to NYC, and I slept like a baby. Or a rock. Or a baby rock.
Mattie was friendly and helpful and the apartment is conveniently located. It was a short walk to amazing delicious pizza (Triangolo), and a short walk to the G subway to head anywhere you want in Brooklyn. Also a 10-15 min walk to Williamsburg and all that.
We had a great stay in Mattie's apartment. He was easy to communicate with, friendly but not intrusive, and genuinely seems like a nice guy. He provide us with two sets of keys and was accommodating of our late arrival time. His apartment is in a wonderful and very quiet part of Greenpoint, not far from the G train, a picturesque walk over the Pulaski bridge and steps from trendy Franklin Street. And his veggie garden is awesome!
Mattie was a perfect host. Very cordial and communicative. Was flexible and accessible for key pick up. His place is quiet and comfortable. The back garden and the birds belie the fact that you're in the city. His place is convenient to Greenpoint and Williamsburg. A quick jaunt up the street puts you on the 7 or the G to get you where you need to go. I would recommend staying with him. He was kindly respectful when I worked very late and needed to sleep in the next morning. He also makes a killer smoothie.
