Hi, thanks for your interest in my apartment! Here is a short description:
1. the location: city center, great neighborhood;
2. transportation: 10 minutes to the subway station, easy access to everything;
2. Transportation: 10 minutes to the subway station, easy access to everything;
3. Value: The apartment is spacious, 980 sq. feet of space (91 sq. meters), sleeps up to 5 (comfortable folding bed will be provided in the living room), and I provide decent amenities; a hotel room of similar price provides less than 1/3 of the space, or even less.
I also have a one-bedroom apartment available, great if you are travelling in a group of 2 or 3:
Check my reviews.
Now the details:
Located in the de facto center of Beijing, the apartment is one with a bedroom, a living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with bathtub, with around 750 square feet of space in total. (There is also a storage room! best for your luggage if you have a big one) It's simple, but has everything you need, whether you stay short, or long; for business, or for pleasure.
Few apartments/hotels beat us in terms of location (those do are much more expensive): 3 minutes’ walk up the tree-lined street, you are in the Chang'an Street, and to your right, the CBD, where many of the business headquarters are, is within walking distance, or just a couple of bus stops away; to your left, the Forbidden City, the Tian'anmen Square, the 3 main shopping streets, and many others, are just 2-3 subway stops away; up north, the Hutong, Sanlitun, Houhai, and down south, the Temple of Heaven, are all within easy reach.
The apartment boasts easy access to almost everything: airport, train stations, shopping centers, tourist attractions, business center, nightlife area, etc. Most of the tourist places and business centers are within easy reach. There are around 20 bus lines 3-minute walks away; Subway line 1 and line 2 take you to or connect you to most of the attractions (please find detailed directions in my guidebook). Some major ones:
• 40 minutes away from the airport by taxi or airport express + subway line 2
• 10 minutes to the Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the National Mesuem, and the National Theatre by subway or bus
• 15 minutes to the Temple of Heaven by subway or bus
• 10 minutes to Wangfujing the shopping street, by subway or bus
• 10 minutes walk to the Silk Market
• 15 minutes to the Houhai area (pubs, Hutong, drum tower, bell tower, etc.) by taxi
• 10 minutes by bus to the World Trade Center, the CCTV tower, that is, the central business area of the city
• 15 minutes to the Sanlitun by taxi or bus, the night life center of the city
• 1 hour to the Summer Palace by subway line 1, then line 4.
• 2 hours to the Great Wall by subway line 2, then train S2
• 20 minutes by bus or taxi to any of the four major music halls in the city
• 30 minutes to the 798 Art Space by taxi (because that place is out of town)
The nearby streets are strewed with restaurants and cafes. From snack bars to Michelin Star Chefs, from western to a variety of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, from Starbucks to cozy local cafes. Explore a bit, and get surprised.
If you want to buy anything, or to cook occasionally, there is a supermarket (Xingfu) 5 minutes away, and also a morning market to get fresh veggies and fruits. Jenny Lou's, a western food grocery, is some 15 minutes pleasant walk away.
There is a convenience store right downstairs that opens 24-hour, more if you want to walk 2 or 3 minutes.
The neighborhood is quite safe. Actually Beijing is quite safe, street crimes are rare. But of course, you can never be too careful.
• Lots of closet for your luggage, your clothes
• Good Air conditioner/ heating system with full self control
• Free Broadband WIFI (password is on the painting beside the desk)
• TV in each room with international channels in English, Korean, Japanese, Russian, and yes, the remotes work
• DVD player
• Complete bathroom with bathtub
• Complete kitchen including refrigerator, pots, pans, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and full kitchen utensils for 4.
• All towels and bedding are included
• Washing machine
• Hair dryer
• We try to be accommodating to your check in/out time
• Discounts for longer term visitors available.
Lastly, Beijing can be overwhelming. If you're looking for suggestions on how to make the best use of your time/budget, just ask! I have been living in the city for over 30 years and I am more than happy to help you. Please feel free to send me an email or give me a call -- nothing is too big or too small!

The apartment was as advertised although a little more run-down than I expected. The photos are very forgiving. Beware, the beds are hard which might not be a surprise if you stay in budget hotels in Asia. We had no problem with hot showers and we used the air-conditioner while we stayed without a problem. The location is good. 15 minute walk to the subway and it was the most convenient transportation for us as taxis didn't stop for us. The kitchen is well stocked and Ollie was always just a phone call away for help with anything. Note: just down the street from the apartment there is an international supermarket called Jenny Wang's where we did some grocery shopping for our stay. As others have mentioned, there is a staircase immediately upon opening the door, so if you have a hard time climbing stairs, this might not be for you. We bought a new dish washing sponge to wash the dishes because the one provided looked old and very worn. Overall, we were happy with our stay and I think it fit our budget.
Ollie is very kind and helpful and left a supply of fruit and water for us that was much appreciated. His apartment was very comfortable for our group of five. And out of the three apartments we rented via AirB&B in China and Hong Kong, had the largest/most functional kitchen (most others are simply for reheating food) and more importantly- had the most consistent hot water for showers. :-) Ollie is also very, very prompt with replies and confirmations.
Ollie is a wonderful host, very helpful and you can contact him at any time if you have any problem.
The appartment is confortable, 15 mins from subway station. A lot of convenience store near by.
Air conditioning was a little noisy in the bedroom but it was not a real problem.
Ollie's place is pretty good for a group of 5 people. Though be warned, if you have heavy luggage like my friends and I did (because prior to this we were travelling around Japan), there are stairs as soon as you open the apartment door. The apartment did seem a little old and a bit rundown, but for the price, we couldn't complain. It was a nice comfy stay and had all the necessities we needed. The location wasn't bad either. My friends and I walked to the trainstation every morning during our stay, and it didn't really feel as far as it was when we first saw it on the map. Recommended stay if travelling with a group in Beijing.
Ollie's place was great. Exactly as advertised and Ollie was lovely and friendly. I would definitely recommend Ollie's place.
Thank you for your kindness that would have us all, and your apartment is comfortable and strategic place. We would recommend your place to others, It's gret time for us can stay at your place.
This was a nice apartment in an area of Beijing with fine restaurants nearby and a small supermarket for snacks and other last minute purchases. We were constantly on tour and didn't go to the shops but I think there were some a few streets away.
Ollie was a very pleasant and helpful host who left a fruit platter and tea/coffee (except milk.)
My suggestions are to leave a small manual with all info such as internet password, local amenities etc. Also it was disappointing to not be able to have a bath as the plug was missing.
Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Always a pleasure to stay at Ollie's. Everything was working just fine. It's a very warm apartment during the winter too.
Ollie's place was as described. We loved staying at his place as it had everything we needed and more. As a host, Ollie was one of the best we've had as he really took the time to make our stay in Beijing as comfortable as possible. His tips and guidance throughout our stay on where to eat and how to go to places of interest was really invaluable. My family and I are very grateful.
Stayed here with 4 other family members for 5 nights in Beijing over Christmas last year, highly recommended!
Prior to our arrival Ollie had contacted me to confirm flight details etc. so he could arrange to meet us at the apartment and we managed to find the place without too much trouble. The apartment is good for even 5 adults, with 1 pullout bed. Was also pleasantly surprised that he had prepared 2 bottles of water that was certainly essential after an overnight flight, and some fruits in the fruit basket as well. Over the course of 5 days whenever I had questions on the heater for example, Ollie replied almost instantaneously, thanks!
Location of the apartment is good, there is a small supermarket just downstairs, and many good food choices around the area. So eating will definitely not be a problem. Train station is also just a 10-15min walk away, or if you just feel too cold on a winter morning you can get a taxi. Just plan your time early as traffic jams during peak hours on week days could get quite frustrating.
Overall I would definitely recommend family and friends to stay here should they be visiting Beijing. Cheers!
