This family is very nice and welcoming and the house is very nice, although I do not feel it is quite accurate to say that it is surrounded by wild flora and fauna; the yard has many large trees but it is surrounded by pastures and it is 12 km to the park on a dirt road so it would be at least 30 min drive or more. They did give us a good and generous breakfast and were kind enough to lead us into town to find a restaurant. The room was okay, but not worth the price IMO. For $92, especially in Costa Rica, I want to be right at the beach, right near the airport, right at the entrance to the park, or be staying in a fancy private room with a private bathroom rather than the reality. The beds were typical for Costa Rica which is harder than we are used to in the US. This is only a problem when paying the price charged. Bathroom- for $90 we would expect a private bathroom where we are not sharing soap etc with the family. I don’t mind sharing soap with the family, but not when I am paying top dollar. Listing mentioned 2 bathrooms; not sure where the second one was. During the night with the fan on and door open, we both got chilly and needed a blanket. My friend felt that the fan was noisy and had trouble sleeping because of that. There was a phone in the room and it rang at 6:30am; luckily we were already awake. The place was hard to find and the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps location on airbnb was incorrect. They need some sort of sign at driveway as house sits back off road. After three tries to find it as they sent different (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) drop pins, we finally got the father to come and meet us at the soccer field and lead us to the property.

Waking up in them morning and being welcomed to the table with "pinto", scrambled eggs and more delicious meals has no price. Felt like I was at home all the time! I would stay again without a doubt.

I have travel inside my country all my live, and in 9 differents countries for the last 10 years. But the first time with Airbnb, and this place exceeded all my expectations. It was simply beautiful, big place, very private, my friend and I were the only ones, so we had a peaceful time there. It is 30 minutes from Tamarindo beach and 5 minutes from the town if you need to look for something. VERY NATURAL, perfect to see animals, walk, do running, bicycling, chil out. And the attention was just perfect. Walter give us a ride to the town so we didn't have to take our car so we could get some drinks. They sold us dinner and breakfast very cheap but taste like expensive, yummie. Fully recommended.

Walter and his family have an absolutely beautiful home. Our stay there was relaxing and they were incredibly helpful about the next leg of our journey. This would be a wonderful place to stay if you wanted a relaxing and quiet home base when visiting Tamarindo or other beaches on the Pacific Coast, or Dirria National Park or the Nicoya Peninsula. Walter's very sweet son even changed our flat tire for us. The breakfast was lovely. This family went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. There are howler monkeys that you can hear living in the trees nearby, livestock and dogs on the property (very nice dogs), and a little river up the road.
