Small but very nice private access studio with bathroom and patio in serene neighborhood setting with ocean views. About 1/3 mile down a medium slope to the Pacific Coast Highway, beaches and buses to downtown. Full bed plus twin convertible.
This is a bright and airy guest studio, detached and with a private entrance, an en-suite bathroom, a sunny patio and an ocean view. It is very nice but be advised that it is on the small side and suitable for a maximum of two people. A couple with small child would also work but probably only for shorter stays.
There is one full sized sleeping alcove and one twin convertible sleeper - both very comfortable. The studio contains a kitchenette with sink, microwave, small refrigerator, table and chairs.
The entrance door opens to a private patio with a small table and chairs for enjoying the sun, the ocean view and breezes.
Cable TV and hi speed Wi-Fi are provided as are beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas as a guest courtesy.
We are located about 500 yards from Pacific Coast Highway and the great beaches of South Laguna. Main Beach and the shops, restaurants and nightlife of Laguna Beach proper are about 4 miles away and can be accessed easily by car or by convenient public transportation. There are many hiking trails in and around Laguna including the Valido trail head which is only minutes from the studio and from which you can access great views of the Pacific, the town and Laguna's mountains.
South Laguna Beach also has a number of nice restaurants of its own and is home to the world famous Montage Resort. It is also very convenient to Dana Point Harbor, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.
Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Laguna Beach -but within easy access when that's what you want to experience - enjoy the laid back California scene that is South Laguna. Here you will find many of the local's favorite beaches and restaurants, soft breezes, a sparkling ocean and gorgeous sunsets.
There is a hot tub that can be used on request if available. Great star-gazing while soaking.
Interaction with Guests
I always like to meet you once and learn a little about where you are from and what you hope to do during your stay. From there it is up to you to ask me for anything you might need or for advise on anything related to your trip. I live in the main house which is right below the studio patio.
It has a very nice micro-climate - balmy and warm usually. It is very quiet and is adjacent to a canyon with lots of birds and other wildlife - and yet only a short 10-15 min walk to the beach.
Once you get to Pacific Coast Highway the buses run regularly to almost any destination. During the Summer months there is a free open air trolley that is truly a pleasure to ride. Even though car access to the shops and restaurants of LB is easy, the Summer trolley is a carefree and fun way to go.
Other Things to Note
There are currently a few construction projects on-going near by. When you inquire, I will let you know the status to the extent that I know it
Since the studio is located on our property close to our home and is in a residential area, guests must refrain from making loud noises or playing loud music at any time and especially after 10:00 PM.
One parking spot is provided at the garage. From there it is about 30 feet to the studio, down three stairs and then up 2 stairs.
No smoking on the premises.
Generally pets are not allowed but under certain conditions we may make exceptions for a dog. Please check with me. If allowed, however, under no circumstances may the dog be left on the premises by itself.
Our stay was wonderful! Mikes place was very comfortable, you had all the amenities of a hotel with a spectacular view from the top of the hill. The studio stands alone and is private if you're aiming for a quiet getaway, this is the place to stay. Mike is always available and responds quickly to any questions & Caroline was a charm. We really enjoyed our peaceful stay here and will definitely recommend & return again
We had a wonderful stay. Mike was welcoming and hospitable and available to answer any questions or concerns.
Mike's studio was the perfect home away from home for the both of us. Beautiful view, quick walk to the beach, we really couldn't have had a better experience.
Mike was an extremely kind host and offered up many good suggestions for restaurants and night life. Mike also showed us the ropes when traveling into town on the free trolley. Five stars, hands down!
Simply fantastic! Thank you very much again, we had a great time. The studio is very cozy and perfect as a romantic get away. You guys did a great job making us feel at home. The studio was exactly what we needed and more than we expected as this was our first AirBNB experience. The views are exceptional from up there and you an amazing job utilizing this small and private space! Thanks again and we hope to be back sooner than later.

Mike was a very nice host. We met briefly on our first night of check in and he was more than accommodating. The studio was very cozy and had a great view of the ocean from the hill on which the house is located. The place was clean and had a few extra snacks and drinks in the cabinets and mini-fridge. It was a short drive into town and gave easy access to the surrounding beaches, parks, and shops. All in all, we could not have been more satisfied and are very happy to have booked this place!
This was a great little place. Mike was a very sweet host. Thank you for letting us bring our dog too.
Mike greeted us when we first arrived, even though it was late in the evening. He made us feel welcome and all the extra touches in the studio made us feel welcome as well. There were cool drinks in the fridge and wine in the cupboard. The bedding and linens were 5 star quality. The place is quite at night, which is surprising because it is a hillside residential neighborhood over looking the ocean. The view is great and in the morning having coffee on the lanai, I counted 8 different types of birds. It is a great studio for one or two people. We stayed four nights and it was very pleasant place to rest. If looking for shopping, nightlife, or beach access, I would not recommend it so much unless you don't mind long walks or taking cabs. He does provide parking but the parking in town is a pain. Tommy Bahama's bar/restaurant was awesome on New Years Eve. The White House is a great place nearby too.
I am a semi retired technology/marketing type and live here on Mar Vista Ave. in the main house with Mandy, a Border Collie / Lab mix . I am originally from upstate New York but have been in California for over 25 years.
I would like guests to have privacy but I would also like to be helpful if needed. I am happy to recommend things to do or to answer any questions in general that you might have about your stay here in Orange County.
