My boyfriend and I were delighted with our accommodations through Airbnb / Veronique & Jimmy. We were looking for a place to stay during the Grand Prix, and this was just perfect for us: it was an amazing deal and located in a pleasant, quiet area, away from all the craziness of the weekend but very close to a Metro station to get us to the race. There were plenty of places to shop and eat in the area, though we spent most of our time at the track.
The apartment itself was nice because it is in the basement and stayed quite cool (the temperature outside was hot during our stay). It is small, but had everything we needed. As previous renters noted, the bathroom and shower do not offer a whole lot of privacy. That was fine for us, but do keep it in mind, depending on who you are staying with! The TV had plenty of channels for us to watch the news in the morning, and I appreciate the electric kettle to make myself tea as well. Some other nice touches around the apartment: Montreal guidebooks and maps, cleaning supplies, grocery shopping bag in the closet, toiletries in the bathroom, an ice pack in the freezer (which we borrowed during the race to keep our drinks cold!). There were a lot of extra things around that made our stay more convenient.
The bed is very comfortable; the apartment overall seems quite new and was clean for us.
It was a great stay at a great price!
The ONLY thing I have to add that might be slightly negative is that there is a cat in the apartment next door (we are told we shared a laundry room with that apartment; we never used it, but perhaps that's why I heard the cat more at certain times). This wasn't a problem at all for us, but if you are allergic to cats you might want to know it in advance, as I could smell the cat sometimes. I don't have an allergy so I'm not sure how important it would be to people, but it is something I would want to know if I had an allergy.
Thank you for the great stay, Veronique and Jimmy!
Firstly, Véronique and Jimmy were friendly and nice. I mainly spoke to Véronique however, Jimmy was very efficient in helping us when we had problems with the door. The minute the issue was addressed, they attended to the problem immediately.
More importantly, the apartment itself was stylish and cosy. It's best suited for a one person or couple. It has everything that you need: kitchen with all the essential appliances and utensils, accessible laundry and the bed was extremely comfortable.
Location is great. It's right near the supermarket and 5 minute walk to Metro station.
It's my second airbnb stay and so far, has been the best for me.
Neat layout and decor. Very comfortable place and located in a great neighborhood, conveniently close to the Botanical Garden.
Polite and responsive host. Check in time was 6pm which we found a little late so I strongly suggest to triple check the check in time before booking. We appreciated the additional towels and sheets, and cleanliness.
It was very easy to find free parking on the same street. Residential feel of the neighborhood made a huge difference.
There's a really nice park where my boyfriend and I enjoyed our morning coffee and yoga.
Overall a great experience. We felt like locals around town. Thumbs up to whoever designed the studio layout, tiny space very well used to fit everything that's needed and still be welcoming.
Would definitely stay here again. Merci Véronique & Jimmy.
We met with Veronique and she was SUPER friendly! The studio was absolutely adorable, so comfy. I felt like I was at home. Didn't even feel like someone else is place because of comfort and Veronique and Jimmy's hospitality towards us. Kitchen was fully equipped, more then enough linens and pillows for the bed. The bed was so comfortable I actually miss it. Hahaha. We couldn't meet with Jimmy when we arrived but he did stop by after to say hello which was great! I can't wait to stay there again!!!
We had a lovely and comfortable stay in Montreal at Véronique and Jimmy's studio apt. It's perfectly situated about 4 blocks from Préfontaine on the green line.
Je suis resté 2 jours dans ce studio tout est comme sur les photos. Pas de mauvaises surprises l'hôte est vraiment très gentille !! On s'y sent bien très rapidement.
Veronique's place is a very cute studio. There is a park just down the block, so it isn't as densely populated as some other areas, and parking on the street was easy to find. It's only a few blocks from the green line on the metro, which makes it convenient to downtown. We didn't drive anywhere all weekend.
There is a sufficiently stocked kitchen, TV, hair dryer, etc. We were out and about most of the time, so we didn't utilize many of the amenities, but they would certainly be nice if we were there for a longer stay.
If you're looking for bagels, it's worth stopping at St. Viateur. For French cuisine, Bistro Florin is a BYOB place just off of the green line and was quite excellent. Conveniently, there are two SAQ stores within a couple blocks of the restaurant. I would recommend getting there early or making a reservation.
We had a great weekend, even despite the icy conditions outside. My only warning is that the place is small (it is a studio after all), and there isn't much privacy when using the bathroom. Best for individuals or couples. Maybe not the best place to stay with your mother!
The place was exactly what we were looking for, and Veronique was very flexible about check-in when I got stuck in some bad weather and was late getting in.
The place is the perfect size for a couple, and I would definitely stay here again!
This is place is a treasure for a getaway weekend! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The studio apartment is extremely well-equipped with everything you need for a short stay. It was cozy, quiet, comfortable, and within easy access to all the places we wanted. We left knowing we definitely wanted to come back again.
