Mill Valley studio apartment alongside the Golden Gate National Park's Miwok Trail. Peace and quiet in nature but only a 10 minute drive to San Francisco & Sausalito. Hike to the beach or the Golden Gate Bridge, Tennessee Valley Beach, Muir Woods or Green Gulch from the doorstep. There are lots of street parking at all times of the day/week.

The space

The calendar tab above is accurate.

The studio apartment is completely private. The retro modern apartment occupies the entire bottom floor of a 4 story private home. The house is on a hill overlooking Tennessee Valley in the Marin Headlands in the Golden Gate National Recreational Area. The windows look out towards trees and the hills of the Marin Headlands. The house is just a few doors down from the end of the street that opens up right up into the Marin Headlands. The apartment has its own separate entrance and staircase from the street. You have your own private deck outside your door. The Tempurpedic style memory foam queen size bed is very comfortable. The bed is in it's own elevated space off the studio floor so the unit is more like a 1 bedroom because the studio space is clear and open with plenty of room even with a couch and dining set. However, there is no door to separate the main living room area from the bed. The kitchen private and is well appointed to make any size meal. It has a gas stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven coffee machine, and full size refrigerator. The bathroom has a shower but no tub. The living area has a couch that could be slept on but would not be ideal for a tall person. For families with small children we offer a collapsible "Pak'N'Play" crib at no additional charge. We can also offer an additional inflatable double bed for larger groups.

You have your own private staircase on the other side of the house from our entrance. The staircase winds through a garden from the street above to your own private entrance on the bottom floor. There are roughly 30-40 steps to the street level. You will be staying in a National Park with the same designation as a place like Yosemite or Yellowstone, yet you will only be a 10 minute drive from San Francisco. Walk out the door straight into the National Park and hike on any of the dozens of trails to the nearby beaches, valleys, the Golden Gate Bridge, and horse stables. The horse stables are just a 15 minute walk away. Sign up to ride a horse into the 10,000 acre National Park that will be your back yard. Easily drive or take public transit into San Francisco. If you work in San Francisco but would rather stay in a peaceful setting there is convenient public transit nearby to take you into the city. Go sailing or have a fantastic meal in Sausalito. Check out Muir Woods National Monument and Stinson Beach. Or drive 40 minutes north to the heart of the wine country to go wine tasting and take in the views. Mill Valley and Vista De Valle is located in a very convenient location to see both SF and the beauty surrounding it.

There is no shared space. You will have your own vacuum cleaner, iron, and ironing table. If you need laundry done just drop it off and our house cleaner/nanny will wash and fold your clothes for $10 per occurrence. She is here 2 days per week.

Nice place as described. Deer off the back porch, great bed -the 1st 19 steps are uneven – beware.

Unfortunately , our stay at Jesse's place was very disappointing. What we thought would be a great experience, turned out to be a real headache. The listing showed a clean and well maintained basement , when in reality it was clearly neglected. The sheets were dirty from the first day we arrived and so we asked our host to change them but our host never replied. The bathroom which does not show in the listing was the worst part of the basement. When we first walked in the bathroom we quickly realized why the host had not posted pictures. Spiders were all over the ceiling as well as dead ones on the shower floor. The towels we were provided with did not smell fresh and when the host finally replaced them, they still smelled bad. The peaceful and quite experience we expected was not met. As of 7 am every morning the kids were shouting and stomping leaving us restless. We would not recommend this place to anyone unless it is your last resort. Our vacation stay lasted 5 days and we couldn't wait to get out of there. We resolved our issue with airbnb afterwards.

Marie and Jesse are excellent hosts. The studio is spacious, with a large, fully equipped kitchen. I also liked the alcove bed layout as it frees up space. The views are simply amazing, especially the morning sunrise. I enjoyed taking hikes into the Golden Gate Nat. Recreational Area, with trails that begin almost from the front door! For those who don't like to cook, a Good Earth recently opened nearby, where you can get healthy prepared foods, salads, and very tasty desserts. All in all, I highly recommend staying here.

The view is terrific. There is long stairway to the unit that is not well lit. The bed is in a raised alcove that may be difficult to get in and out if if you have hip or knee problems.
