Puivert village, 5 minutes' walk away, has a post office, and small general store, as well as a café and 2 restaurants. In season, the swimming lake has a lifeguard and bars and cafés.
Guests have their own private driveway, terrace with table and gas barbecue, garden with deck-chairs, and direct access to the studio apartment.
We look forward to welcoming you to Green Horizons.
You are welcome to share the six acres of grounds, swimming pool (in season) with sun-loungers, childrens' play area, and pool-house with bar and summer kitchen. Two adult bicycles are available to borrow, or we can provide safe storage for your own bikes. Clothes washing and drying facilities are available on request.
Interaction with Guests
The hosts live in the main house next to the studio, and are available to answer any questions or give advice about the area if requested, otherwise we will keep out of your way! The studio is attached to the main house but is not overlooked and has a private entrance, terrace and garden. The main grounds and pool are shared with the hosts and a small number of other guests.
This is a beautiful area in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the South of France. The Languedoc is one of the sunniest areas of France, with over 200 days of sunshine a year. Puivert is a pretty, friendly village with castle, swimming lake and beach, museum, grocery shop, and cafés and restaurants. There are lots of hiking trails nearby, and watersports at Lac Montbel. The nearest ski station is 28 km away. Whether you like history, castles, wine-tasting, mountains, fishing, watersports, cycling, skiing, or just relaxing in the sunshine and enjoying good local food, this is an ideal centre.
In termtime a bus goes from Puivert to Quillan and back each day. There is also a local mini-bus service costing 2 euros, which can be booked the day before and goes to a different town or village each day. From Quillan, there are one-euro buses and trains to Perpignan and Carcassonne. You are also welcome to borrow our two bicycles, and we can arrange free transfers from Quillan station if requested in advance.
We ask guests to respect others when sharing the grounds and pool, and also to leave the studio apartment clean and tidy on departure. You are welcome to smoke on the terrace, but not in the apartment please.
From 11 to 25 of August we had a lovely stay in Ruth and Peter's studio. A perfect place to be and to visit the region (Pays de Cathare).
We loved their warm welcome and services.
The swimming-pool is an outstanding extra moment of relaxing after our journeys, just reading and sunbathing.
It was a pleasure!!!!!
Lovely place, exactly as described, peaceful and quiet. We had a great time and the hosts are very welcoming.
Greeted by our lovely hosts Ruth and Peter, we liked Green Horizon
immediately. We stayed in the spacious studio with a spare bed and
enough privacy for two persons, a kitchenette and the feeling of
living in the middle of the huge garden. Cats were everywhere and the
pool was very appreciated after a long day discovering the Pays
Cathare. The B’n’B is very good located (even when you are arriving by
UFO ;-)), with Puivert and its Castle in walking distance. Thanks to
good timing we even got to see a great firework at the lake of

Thank you so much for your lovely review Bernhard and Nicole. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and liked the garden and the pool. It was great that you arrived on the day of the Puivert firework display! I do hope your onward journey went well, and we very much hope to see you both again sometime. Ruth and Peter

Hello, I'm Ruth. I live in the Languedoc with my family (plus our cats, guinea-pigs, chickens... and lovely volunteer helpers). We love this beautiful area and are very happy to have an opportunity to share it with our guests. When I am travelling, I much prefer to stay with Airbnb hosts rather than in anonymous hotels.
Looking forward to meeting you!
