Wonderful stay! The cottage was exactly as described and pictured, very clean and well-stocked with essentials. We used both the kitchenette and BBQ grill. The area is very quiet and peaceful, nicely landscaped too with lighted walkways. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Big Island! Mahalo!
The cottage is very clean, very spacious, and the location is lovely. It is located in a very nice rainforest. I was there with my girlfriend and we enjoyed staying in the cottage. We recommend this place.
The check-in and check-out went great. Georges was very responsive and flexible. Georges was also very welcoming when we met him.
Staying at George and Barbara's was an absolutely delightful experience. They have a beautiful piece of property that feels at once remote and wild and is immaculately maintained. We stayed in their "Lavender Cottage" which was clean, comfortable, private, and really cute. They are low-maintenance, easy hosts who were very responsive to our questions and needs and made sure that we knew how to get there. George also gave some great recommendations for other places to see and things to do in other parts of the island, which we gratefully took up! This felt like such a special, secluded place - and an experience of the island we would otherwise never have had. Definitely recommend!
i have only terrific things to say about this space. exceptionally beautiful, quaint, and in a perfect location if youre looking to hide out a bit. the space itself is very homey and and welcoming. the only mild downside is due to the location of the home (in the forest on a volcano) the wifi is a bit weak... but then again.. when youre staying in a rainforest- do you really need to be connected to the outside world? it didnt bother me one bit.
This place was very quiet, peaceful, and serene, just what I had been looking for. The unit looked great on Air B&B, and was even better that I expected upon arrival. Well appointed and in a great location away from the tourist areas. Very comfortable bed; slept like a baby the whole time. Did not get to meet George & Barbara personally, as they were away at the time, but their on-site person was great, offering much info on things to see and do in that area. Communication was good throughout the process. Would stay here again when on Hilo side of Hawaii. Thank you!
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic experience staying here. We arrived a few hours after we thought we would be there, and George was so nice and came out to show us where our cabin was. It was extremely clean, had a kitchen with all the cooking gear we needed, and the grounds were beautiful. Close to lots of cool stuff in the Pahoe area. The bed was very comfortable as well! Hope you have a great trip!
the place is just great. quiet and cleaning. Mrr George is so kind and thoughtful. I liked this place very much. a fantastic thing is that A kind of bird, never know what looks like, sings whole night with "bi bo, bi bo". George prepared very nice tropical fruits for us. If i have chance, this place will be my choice again.
one problem is that I came in the evening and It was so dark that I could not find the place and GPS did not provide a accurate site. the mobile signal was very bad there. So, just remind "don't come too late".

Aloha, George and Barbara moved to Pahoa in 2008 to enjoy the peaceful rural Puna area. We enjoy hosting guests from other places and making new friends. We owned an award-winning B&B (2004 TripAdvisor Top Ten B&Bs in the USA) and are now managing four vacation rentals. We provide a kitchenette in each rental so you can cook your own meals. We provide coffee, tea, fruit and biscotti for your first morning with us. We think you will enjoy the central location of our property and will have easy access to the Puna beaches, Pahoa town, Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Kea Observatory Visitors' Center. Let us know if you would like to plan an event with a group.
We recently purchased a second home in Gulfport, Florida near St. Pete Beach and wish to share the apartment in the back with our guests! Come visit us in Sunny Florida as well as in Hawaii!
