Hummingbird Haven takes you back to a time when life was simpler. With no TV or internet, the cabin is a sweet disconnection from technology. Of course, we do have running fresh spring water and an indoor bathroom! An on-demand water heater, ensures plenty of hot water for well used muscles, after a long bike ride. There is a radio, board games, and some cellphone service on the porch.

The space
Hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner are provided. Good tasting, tested, spring water flows from the tap. It is a quiet place, except for the rich sounds of nature. Over 40 different birds frequent the haven. The cabin was built in 1952 by a fellow named Squeamy Womack. (Can't you just hear his mother saying, "Squeamy Alexander, you get in here right now and clean up your room!") Squeamy was an accomplished builder for the cabin survived the tornado of 2008. There is a queen, comfortable, bed in the bedroom, a single bed and a futon in the living room. Well behaved pets are allowed. Cupboards and refrigerator are stocked with breakfast foods and various items for your use. Hummingbird Haven is used as a place to rest on a journey, but also as a place to heal, to reflect, to study, to create and a place to celebrate life with loved ones. Honeymooners return on anniversaries, families enjoy holidays here and friends meet here to renew relationships. The cabin is yours alone to enjoy. We love this place, the serenity that comes with simplicity and nature. We invite you to share it with us. We enjoy our guests and are available for as much or as little interaction as you like.

Guest access
Entire cabin, the yard, the creek, hammock.

Other things to note
We have a horseshoe pit. If you are responsible, we can't see any reason not to let you use our mountain bikes. We like to walk through the hayfield to the small country church. Cell phones may or may not have a bar on the screened in porch, but work in the hayfield or at the end of the drive.

Location

Fairview, Tennessee, United States

Neighbors know neighbors here, care about each other and are always ready to lend a hand when needed. Just a short distant out our driveway is a quiet road with very little traffic and pastoral countryside. 4 miles away is Fairview, TN with Bowie Nature Park with 13 miles of trails in woods, for walking, biking or horseback riding. Lieper's Fork is an 8 mile country ride through a beautiful wooded area. Once there you find a fun town with an art gallery and fun craft store to wander through.
We love this area! can you tell?

We are not dull or boring. Both of us are very involved in our wonderful country community. We love to travel and do so at every opportunity. (We have an amazing concierge, who is your host when we are gone.) Tony was born in Buffalo, New York. He then lived in Montreal, Canada, where he learned a little French. Before he came to Tennessee, to find and marry me, he enjoyed Hawaii for 12 years. I am a Minnesota country girl that grew up on a dairy farm. I herald from a large family, 6 siblings, 81 first cousins. I aspire to be fluent in Spanish, currently I speak it slowly as a tourist. In the winter, I try to get some quilts made, put jigsaw puzzles together and make lists for Tony, who keeps busy fixing things all year round. In the summer, besides keeping the hummingbirds fed, we have a large garden. Both the B&B and our cabin were built by by a fellow named Squeamy Womack. Our cabin in 1929 and the B&B in 1952. Squeamy, ( I love that name), did an excellent job as evidenced by both cabins being structural sound after surviving a tornado in February 2008. We were displaced for 4 months. We would be happy to show you our rustic cabin, no matter how dusty it might be, if you are interested. Just ask. May 2014 marks our 1st year as innkeepers. We are thoroughly enjoying this retirement adventure. In case you haven't guessed, we enjoy people and hosting and look forward to your visit, then you coming again.

During your stay
Our home is just across the yard from your cabin, we enjoy people, and have lots of ideas of things to do in the area, which we are glad to share. It is almost like going on holiday ourself.
