The place was great! Was clean, spacious, and in a perfect location. It had more that enough beds for my whole group, and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Nice house in a cool neighborhood. Very convenient to Haight St. and the park. The house is nothing spectacular--two bedrooms, two living rooms that can turn into bedrooms, a kitchen, and 1.5 bathrooms--but it was clean, well-maintained, and a great value for the price. It served our group of 7 perfectly for a long weekend. I would certainly stay here again if traveling to the neighborhood.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the unit itself. Spacious, clean, and with the character and charm of an older house with plenty of history, it was the ideal accommodation for our stay. The kitchen was newly finished, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked it was.
The location was also very convenient: a block away from shops, restaurants and along with bus routes going directly to other parts of the city.
“What do you mean we have ‘poor communication’? We’ve talked to you every day!”
That quote handily sums up our experience dealing with the management company, Casa Buena Vacation Rentals. We had two requests at the beginning of our stay: could we get a couple extra sets of keys (there’s seven of us), and might a late checkout be negotiable (our flight was at night, and we had a lot of bags)? Resolving these could have been dealt with easily in a single communication, but instead became a trial of patience that ate up far too much of my vacation.
I emailed a week before our arrival regarding the first two requests and was ignored. Management seemed annoyed to be speaking with me the day before arrival (“Didn’t you get the email? Everything you need to know is in the email.”), but I was told extra keys would be left and that they would “get back to me” about late check out. They never got back to me, and no keys were left (that took two more phone calls).
As the end of our stay approached, we contacted Management again about the late checkout. It took several more phone calls before they finally confirmed that we could do a later checkout....for $187. We declined. They did offer to let us store our bags at their office, but based on their complete unreliability to date we declined this offer as well.
It’s pretty clear now that management just wanted to wait until the last conceivable moment for someone else to book the place before they promised us a late check out.
And you know what? Fine. They’re trying to run a business. But that cuts both ways. If they expect to be treated like a business, then I expect to be treated like a customer. That means not making me phone a dozen times before getting an answer. That means not forgetting TWO TIMES to put out extra keys. It means warning us that “we’ll bring you more toilet paper right away” means it will arrive 36 hours later (ps. five rolls is not enough for seven people over six days). It means actually calling back when you promise to call back. And if you want to charge half a night’s rent to keep our bags in the suite a few extra hours, then make that clear up front.
The experience with management put a sour note on an otherwise lovely vacation.
les plus:bon emplacement, quartier agréable, souplesse sur l'heure du départ
les moins:ménage et literie douteux, très sonore avec l'appartement du dessus, pas de service d'accueil
Nice place and good access. A bit of climb with the stairs but good for the legs.
The pictures don't do this apartment justice. It is huge, and easily accommodated our group of six. It was clean and well supplied. The apartment is excellently located; the neighborhood has lots of cafes, bars and shopping and public transportation is easily accessible. I would definitely rent this apartment again on a future visit to SF. Jesse was easy to contact and the whole process went smoothly.
Your home was wonderful. I truly don't think we could have chosen a better home. Before the B2B we enjoyed a a good crowd at Hobson's.
And afterwards took the 71 down to Union Sq. to Fino's. Sorry about the pup. Last minute cancellations left no choice. Again I apologize.
We had a wonderful stay. The area was fantastic, close to shops and buses. The area had character and appeal and the apartment was really spacious and comfortable and there were six in our family. We had difficulty (our fatigue at fault) with getting our key and one phone call and some one was there to assist! The apartment was clean and exceeded our expectations. If I ever return to San Fran I would certainly apply for this place again!
It was okay. But the comforter in the second bedroom smells a bit. Parking was also tricky with limited spaces and varying street cleaning day/times.
